I never boil my noodles I just make a thinner sauce and cover with aluminum foil bake at 325 for an hour and a half then remove the foil and put it back in the oven for 15 minutes.......... works every time and the noodles are perfect ✌️
Its been a while since I boiled my noodles first. And it works great with regular lasagna noodles or the so called "oven ready" lasagna noodles. Saves some time and saves using another pan for clean up too. Years ago I had to do without a stove and thats when I used a large electric fry pan with a lid to "bake" the lasagna. No way to boil noodles first and everyone saying you dont have to boil them first. Soooo, it worked great and Ive never looked back.
This is the easiest lasagna recipe I have seen, not a ton of ingredients, definitely making this with ricotta cheese. Catherine your recipes are the best and simplest, have a blessed day. 💕💕💕
My grandma was from the Naples, Italy. I learned to cook lasagna and other yummies from the time I was 5-6 years old. Ricotta cheese with an egg mixed in was one of the layers in her lasagna. So delicious, and like most Italian pasta dishes is even better as leftovers.
That's how I was taught to make it too, with a cheese and egg mixture. I love spaghetti leftovers. To me, it tastes better than after it was first served...
Hi Catherine!!!!!!! When I make lasagna I criss cross the lasagna noodles as I layer it. It slices so much easier and stays together in a perfect little bundle of wonderfulness. 😆 Just wanted to share with everyone that little tid bit Thanks
Love this recipe was so yummy. Then did a twist to it. I use 1lb. of hamburger and 1lb. of mild ground Italian sausage. My family went nuts I had no leftovers for lunch the next day. 😥😥
I don't care for the ricotta cheese flavor so I did substitute cottage cheese for my lasagna or baked ziti dishes. I use 24 Oz size of small curd cottage cheese..... oh it's so good.....I love the way you make yours....I am definitely going to make this, thank you, Catherine!! 😋
Ohhhhh myyyyyy goooooodness!!! I'm drooling!!! I've never made a homemade lasagna!!! Bout time to do that, huh Catherine?! Seems easy enough. Thanks for the nudge! I can ALMOST SMELL IT! MMMMMM!!!!!! Big hugs! 🍃🤗🍃
I think I know what my grandsons are doing for their cooking lesson today! We'll make lasagna and cut it up for freezer meals and lunch today. There's only the 3 of us and they're little so I usually cut things up in 3 serving size then freeze for quick reheat meals. Thank you for this and all your videos.
Catherine, thanks for a wonderful recipe. I don't know anyone who doesn't like Italian style cooking, especially lasagna. Part of the reason I love your recipes so much is that they are simple, yet sooo delicious!! Thanks for sharing. Blessings
Catherine , I make my lasagna the same way you do 😀The only thing I do different is I add more mozzarella to the layers and I use Italian sausage in my ground beef 😀I use ricotta cheese once in a while but I actually like the cottage cheese too 😀Thanks for sharing 😀
This looks wonderful Catherine! I grew up with the cottage cheese mixture in my mother's lasagna, but now I just add a little of both! Thank you for another great recipe this looks scrumptious
That sizzle with the onions and peppers is all I need to come running. You just know that something delicious has started to cook. I love both cottage and ricotta in lasagna. My Mom also used cottage in her lasagna. Ive decided to make this tomorrow, I have everything I need for it. Just need to thaw the hamburger! Love you guys. God bless. Shirley.
This looks wonderful! I’m a ricotta lover, I put it on drained pasta even when making any kind of baked pasta! The heat from the pasta melts the cheese and adds a lot of creaminess . I’ve seen several videos of lasagna this week, some not even remotely close to the real thing. You lasagna is the real deal! Love your videos!
I like to use Barilla’s no boil lasagna noodles and I only use ricotta from now on I used to be a cottage cheese person but found a very good brand and of course fresh basil love lasagna thank you for your recipe!
Absolutely ! I never have success with pasta sheets that you have to boil , they either stick together or tear when removing them 😩. I find Barilla is the best make . Don’t buy the ‘Jamie Oliver’ ones, they are rubbish and just dissolve into cream 🤢.
I have always used cottage cheese in my lasagna. I mix an egg, parsley, Italian seasoning, oregano, basil and Parmesan cheese in with the cottage cheese. The mozzarella is a separate layer on its own. Your lasagna looks very delicious, though. Thank you for your videos. God Bless You!
We always used cottage cheese when I was little, but as I have gotten older I prefer to use ricotta. I think that mostly had to do with availability rather than preference. I grew up in a very small town and some things were just hard to come by... I will definitely be trying this one....Thank you💖
They never had cottage cheese in Italy, they didn’t even know what it was. I think its the cost of Ricotta! But I Love Cottage Cheese just Never have it in my Lasagna!! To each it’s own
Hi Catherine, either cottage cheese or ricotta, doesn't matter, it's all about the pasta. When a carb is involved I'm all in😂 Once again such an easy recipe, with ingredients most have on hand, great presentation and enough to feed family, friends or just have left overs. So delicious. I've never put peppers in mine, but I'm going to give it a whirl. I'm Italian, so I'm loving these pasta dishes. Thank you!
This lasagna looks like a delicious sin!!! My mom used to make a very particular lasagna. She made different fillings for each layer, one had beef, another has cheese, another ham and another one with spinach and ricotta. All different but delicious together. I never cooked it because it's too much work but I miss it 😢
Ricotta all the way! We actually use the pasta that doesn’t require boiling. We also criss cross our layers i’m told it keeps layers firm. I’ve tried lasagna both ways and both are good in their own ways. Thanks for sharing you recipe is exceptional!
i’m a ricotta fan simply because my sisters hate cottage cheese…although i might have to change since every time i make lasagna it’s soggy! this works the same for baked ziti or rigatoni, just toss the pasta in the sauce and layer it with the cheese between
Hi there. Good recipe. I always take a package of Philly Cream cheese and Cut into squares and use it combined with one of the layers of Lasagna ..delicious and rich. Also a fan of Ricotta cheese. Anyways you make it..wonderful!
I love lasagna.... I've always used cottage cheese... In with the cottage cheese I add mozzarella and parmesan cheese and an egg....I definitely am going to try your recipe. I love your channel
Good Morning, Good for you‼️ That's why you do these videos instead of me❗️ What a clever way to put your pasta in the boiling water so they don't stick together. And lunch and dinner are served for today‼️ Thank you as always for a great recipe‼️I’m a Ricotta girl myself. Have a great day‼️🌹😷
Also, I’ve made pans of lasagna. With tin baking pans. Super covered with foil. And freeze it. Made it for Christmas one year when I was working retail. Cesar salad and bread sticks. And it was so easy and stress free. Everyone loved it.
@@pattijesinoski1958 , I prefer to freeze prior to baking. You can either cook it longer from frozen when you’re ready to eat it or thaw it in the fridge overnight.
Looks yummy! I never had it home made when I was a kid, we lived in south Florida and my mom rarely used the oven 😂 too hot. I’ve made it myself at 29 when we moved to Colorado and used ricotta when I made it, but will try this with cottage cheese 🤩
This looks really good, will make it soon when the weather cools down. Expected heat next few days in the 100’s. I will add some Swiss cheese in it also. Thanks for all your great recipes! 😋
I love your show. I've made lots of your recipes. Always so good. This looks like an easy lasagna recipe. I prefer ricotta and I add eggs. I also use 5 cheeses. I do 1 layer of sausage. I do 1 layer of San Marzano tomatoes. But this is quick . I'm gonna try.
I love lasagna great stuff I never made it till I saw your channel do all these amazing foods, pasty never ending. I will be making this dinner cause I love love it.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I am definitely a Ricotta fan, and I would add an egg to the ricotta mixture with some Romano cheese. You are clear and concise with directions. A yummy dish..
So delicious Catherine 🥰😘 I always had cottage cheese.but ricotta cheese is good too..if I had to choose between the two,I'd pick cottage cheese.sometimes,I like to make it extra cheesy, and I'll use both.all I know is I really love yours.thankyou for sharing your recipe Catherine 🥰 hv a great day family 😊😊😊😊
That looks delicious. I have not made it in a few years. I like cottage cheese better than ricotta cheese. I also use a cup of red table wine in my sauce. With the wine you don't need to use sugar or, so I have been told.
This looks amazing Catherine! 😍 When I was younger, I used to make lasagna from scratch a lot! But they have so many great sauces on the market that makes it faster and easier. Our family always used cottage cheese for several reasons. People don't realize how it melts well and has more flavor! 😘 This is another great classic recipe! 🤗 Thanks for sharing another great recipe! 🥰
I use a mixture of both ricotta cheese and cottage cheese. I love both! Also, I've found that Lasagna freezes well. It doesn't stY in freezer very long before we are ready for it again. LOL
I like to take this to church suppers! Always a hit and no leftovers!
I like the way you teach, very slow. You give good instructions.
Thank you very much!
Yep. These are great recipes to follow!!

Let your ricotta drain overnight. It won't be soggy. When I mix it I just use egg yolks. I don't like cottage cheese at all.
Looks great! I use fennel seed in mine instead of bell pepper. Ricotta cheese.
Yes! Today
This looks good good..going to try this with the ricotta this time so my granddaughter will like it hopefully lol..fuzzy eater she is lol..thanku ..
