In the long run I do think the spa 2 platform might be one of the best 400 volt architecture platforms available. But the delay almost killed polestar. Caused the stock to plummet. Polestar 3 should have been out two years ago! Mine is due July (fingers crossed)
@@thom-lov Polestar 3 production has already started. Test drives for reviewers will be in Spain late May (source Kris Rifa). First deliveries in North America expected in July.
For Volvo the delay wasn’t harmful at all. They still sell ICE vehicles. Plus they have the ex30 and the recharge vehicles. But for polestar. This almost killed the company. I bet if polestar could do it all over again, they would NOT have agreed to joint build this with Volvo cars. They would have joint built with geely or lotus. And used one of their platforms
I think Polestar did not have a choice as back then Volvo was one of the 2 major shareholders. Despite Volvo now not owning it I do expect that polestar will still have a lot of shared tech, engineering etc with Volvo.
The next Volvo will be the ES90 (I am a salesman at Volvo 🙂). Next to the ES90, we'll also see the EX30 Cross Country & XC90 're-skin'. Thank you for the video Thom!
It is weird that they will come "now" with LIDAR - Since the same platform with LIDAR on the Polestar 3 is delayed until mid 2025. And since it is delayed because of te software not working well enough and since EX90 and PS3 use the exact same platform in all sense, this seems weird..
Could be, still seems weird when PS cite it as being problems with the overall software and in regard to LIDAR and AD/ADAS systems which they both use 😅 PS3 is also already being produced, so something is not adding up it seems in terms of what Volvo is saying or the functionality when it comes out will be limited on the LIDAR/AD/ADAS functionality?
FWIW the dates I got from my Volvo dealer for my EX90 are the next --> Will get delivered to me 29th Sept 2024 (Spain), production happening early August 2024 (leaving the factory August 7th IIRC) in China. I placed my order late 2023.
@@thom-lov Yes, that is what I was told. My EX90 comes from China and that (plus issues on the red sea) makes production to delivery 2 months apart. Actually today I've received an email from Volvo confirming delivery will be before Oct 15th 2024, if it does they will provide me with a similar Volvo (XC90 I guess) for free until it arrives.
Hi Thom! What do you think about the EX90, which will be delivered without ANY of the features is was advertized with? Most of them should come over the air in mid 2025?! Are they serious? I ordered mine 11/22 and now i‘ll get a car that has not even the features an XC60 had already 4 years ago? It would be great if you would pick up this topic, think that would affect lots of customers. Regards Mike/Austria
Hey Michael, already had some DM's about this. I'm quite surprised to be honest. Thought Volvo finally had everything figures out considering the delay it already has. But here we are, haha. I'll surely make a video on this, stay tuned!
I hope the launch of the EX90 is a better experience than the EX30. The EX30 software is frankly shocking, and continuing connectivity problems mean that software updates are non-existent.
I hope so too Robert. Being the flagship vehicle I do expect that. You’d say that these delays also helped them to sort out things with software.. let’s see!
"Volvo insured the vehicle arrived at customers in perfect state" vaaahahahhahaahahaa..looool. you are good... Yoooou are good, man. That was a proper joke. Not only is the Volvo amongst the least if not the least reliable car in the world but previous combustion engine version of this vehicle was so notorious for breaking down and being hard to repair that there are legends told about it. Reddit threads and numerous if not countless videos. If Volvo doing anything it's not ensuring the vehicle is arriving in highest quality. Even in their own marketing their blabbing about sustainability and how everything in the car is recyclable blah blah blah not a single sentence, a single word, about improving reliability, the biggest thing that should have done. I'm going to give 100k for a car. But I'm not going to give it to a company that creates cars that break down every two months. Like they don't care..
@@thom-lov That's true. But I grew up with Volvo being something very special and I thought of it as such. And would like it to be that. I was just too small to know if the stories my parents told me about Volvo were true or not but grew up to be pretty much disappointed listening to all of the stories. So again I am frustrated that they are not as good as they should be. Me buying it has nothing to do with it. Not to mention that I am planning to buy I'm going to have to buy some brands that exists for last 10 years.

Yep! I guess with the EX90 production starting soon, the P3 is already ongoing or very soon to start as well.

Perhaps it also has to do with supply chain issues and such. Maybe they can’t produce both at this moment.

I remember the rumors surrounding XC100. A full-size SUV.
They pranked us with the EM90, lol!
Hi Thom, do you know when the production of the EC40 starts? 🙌 Thank you very much for all your videos.
It already started! First ones are at dealerships already 😁

I really hope they announce the full electric developed ex40. Preferably a ex90 that has been washed to hot 😅
Hahah! So do I, in due course that will surely come. Hopefully they put the 90 in the laundry soon. 😂
In the us, the ex90 directly affects the ex30 launch date.
What you mean with that?
Volvo XC90 Hybrids were a disaster back in 2016, so I hope EX90s stay more on the road and less in the repair shop!
I can remember that, the T8 had a rough start back then 😂
Yeah, my boss had a T8 and I hardly saw him driving it 😂😅😂😅
lol!!

The EX90 range (580 km) is a disappointment.
And that is WLTP/EPA.. Imagine that will do in ‘real life’. 😅

And still waiting for EX30 in USA.
But you do get the EX90 first! 😜

no official anouncement yet.
EV90 wagon please.
That be great! 😉
I am hoping that Volvo learned from the very problematic launch of AAOS. My experience has made me leery about buying another Volvo.
I hope so Richard! I guess the EX90 will demonstrate if they did (or not) in the coming months...
I have heard EX30 screen crashes and goes completely black while driving. Safe?
A black screen helps you to keep your eyes on the road even more. 😉
Computer problems are turning off real customers.
At least this one does have a drivers display.. another issue or flaw for many customers .. 😅
