- Guitarist extraordinaire, Andy Timmons, shows you the guitars, amps and effects used during the recording of his latest album "Andy Timmons Band Plays Sgt. Pepper" available October 25th on Timstone Records.
I met Andy almost twenty years at an Ibanez clinic with Shawn Lane! I had never heard Andy before (he was just releasing his1st solo CD) and was there to see Shawn, they both blew me and my friends away! Shawn gave us his phone# and Andy hung out later that night and jammed Kiss songs with a local band. Have seen him numerous times since and what a great guy!
It's a joy watching you play
My FB buddy,Ron DiBuccio told me to check you out. I had never heard of you before and after
watching this video, you now have a new fan !!!
Really honest interview...I have so much respect for him.
Incredible tone, control and phrasing!.....
@KevenHyun such a simple motion of the finger but such an incredibly emotional effect. Love it.
This lead tone is fantastic !!
Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I've just "Timmonized" my strat with Andy's pickups of choice, boy did that improve my sound!
I bought the same guitar about two years ago and by the look of that fretboard it's going to look killer after ten years. Let's hope that the skills are included.
He surely likes his delays and echoes. What a wonderful player.
i know what i want for christmas! his gear! damn!
@Bradbssargdons
Your preference doesn't diminish the talents of those outside your scope of preference
@DexterKnows
I'm totally calm and my reply was not made in anger or any other negative emotion.
My point was that there are lots of great players out there who are straight up great players....andy is one of the best but there are lots of great players out there for us all to discover.
Fabulous!!!
Great Job!!
Excellent trolling man, well done! Some almost... fell for it! :-D
neat find. i lived in mckinney for like 15 years. nice to hear theres a good studio out there now. is it yours?
good stuff man! Shawn... RIP
Respect>Fear
Knowledge>Swag
Finesse> Power
"One with six strings would be awesome".. haha.. Timmons greatness!
I think that's what happens when you are a happy, positive person
Nominated for "define:guitar idol"
TIMMONS WHEN ARE YOU COMING TO L.A.
@heliobluesrock The Timmons' signature is lil bit more compressed...
Stratoblogster Approved!!!
@heliobluesrock The Signature dude, the Signature!
Crap, still have over a month to wait for this album to be released :(
@ThieleM
Now I will retort. The notion that Steve Morse, Brent Mason, joe Bonamassa, Albert Lee or Brad Paisley dont play stuff that is as advanced as Andy is crazy(Morse and Mason) especially and can only come from a person that doesnt know what they are talking about. That he deleted his (crazy) comment attests to that.
I would never slight Andy, i think he rules. I have an AT300 guitar, signed by Andy and it is an awesome guitar, amazing really, and bought a lonestar because of him.
Anybody else here is disappointed with the lost of Psychedelia and the resulting Fusion Jazz sound?
@ericmusic13 Fusion Jazz tone that sounds like late '70s stuff. I'm disappointed by the loss of Psychedelia on this whole thing...
@ThieleM Andy is really good but... I wouldnt go as far as to say he is one of the best. I prefer guys like Maneli Jamal or Monte Montgomery. They play with pure emotion. Im not saying Andy doesnt, just... moreso with these two. They make some of the most complex and beautiful music I have ever heard.
wow, mesas all over the place.
no wonder.
What is the difference between BB preamp (original) and the Timmons' one?
I agree with Dennis.
some times andy has the presence on the lead channel on the lonestar at noon, and some times at 9 ockok, when i have my presence at 12 it sounds very thin, anyone else have this problem?
dude actually has a pretty simple rig. Sound great!
wow.. you're really good.
he always finish his sentence with some nice guitar playing, i guess AT prefers to communicate by playing his guitar rather than talking...
i think who adndy is the new steve vai!
Just Ooozes tone for days upon days.
@luisotaviobi only tastier playing, not so out there Andy's tone is massive, sweet & a sonic delight..
@Mariguanamastuh Since you are a famous musician with fans all over the world perhaps you could explain exactly what you mean by 'raw power'?
@MyLifeChanger its not in his main sound
Haha Thats what I was thinking!
Wonder Bread
I met Andy Timmons about two years ago. He gave me a few tips on how to get his tone, and I've been able to replicate it for the most part. Check out my promo video on my channel.
While My Guitar Slowly Burns
did his pickguard break?
@AndreNieri Engraçado que você não reconheceu meu nome e me respondeu em inglês! hahahaha...
PS: sou teu fã também e já me inscrevi no teu canal!
Forte abraço,
Ibanez needs to make more guitars like this one! Its basically a Fender style.....Alder body, Maple neck/fboard....FENDER TONE!!! All the other ibanez's have no life/tone!
The latest stratocaster? you mean the oldest? strats are not apple devices
He must have the young genes, doesn't even look 49 at all.
Dat Ibanez!
There goes the price of Carl MArtin compressors on ebay through the roof...
Phoda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
are you actually being serious? i wouldn't have thought id ever come across a troll on an AT video
Paul Mc Cartney,Ringo Starr,George Harrison and John Lennon like.
Not sure if trolling or just crazy...
@Mariguanamastuh You're high. You really need to stop doing such bad drugs if you think Andy Timmons is over rated. He's very, very, very under rated, by definition. You may not like him (if you're from Mars and tone deaf- which I suspect) but over rated he really isn't.
Before deleting he posted this
@ThieleM Joe, Steve, Brad, Albert, Brent, and even Beck, don't play as advanced as Timmons does. Personally I wish your list contained more acknowledged professional guitarists. At least you didn't say Hendrix, SRV, and Clapton, then I would thumbs down your arguement. But in all reality, Timmons is an advanced blues guitarist with an exotic, almost one of a kind feel, while your list of guitarists don't really break the line between mainstream and unique..
"This guy is over rated"
The hell you talking about? compared to the rest of solo guitarists this guy is one of the lesser known. Expensive studio rigs is what happens when you get to a point where you are sponsored by such big brands, and is not what makes this guy fantastic. As he even said at the beginning of his sponsorship deal, his definition of the ultimate guitar was one with six strings.
Midas.
People who do videos and have to endure comments from small and mean humans (not that Andy would care) that add nothing to what the topic are brave in my view. If you can’t contribute anything or even appreciate the offering, don’t get your piss on others. If you knew Andy, you would eat every negative letter that you regurgitated. Please don’t have kids.
Someone tell him that the rug goes on the floor.
@DexterKnows
Jeff Beck isnt a real player? Steve Morse isnt a real player? Joe Bonamassa isnt a real player? Brad Paisley isnt a real player? ALbert Lee isnt a real player? Brent Mason isnt a real guitar player? Warren Haynes isnt a real guitar player?
I could go on but I think you get the point.
If you want a great interpretation of Beatle songs Bill Frisell and Pat Metheny will teach something about purity but also a lot about improvisation. I like Andy a lotbut I was a bit disappointed in the album and I think it's just too much processing going on. Bill uses effects too but he uses them differently. Metheny throughout the years has always kept it pure
What garbage?
yawn
Preacher At Arrakeen let’s hear your talent after that dismal comment. Contributed nothing to his offering.
so it took you about two years to ruin a Beatles song
oh man that was brutal. i hear jealousy here.
don't fucking ruin this song by making a metal version
