I had one calico cat in the past - she was not aggressive at all, but preferred to be left alone. Then I used to live with a red cat - he liked to sleep with someone and to play, but he didn’t liked to be petted. And now I live with another calico cat - she is like a little baby, she is so social, she wants to be carried, petted and played with all the time. Also she sleeps with us and gets upset if we leave. But interestingly she is very territorial and she will have a tantrum, if some other animal passes next to our house.
Your older cat was just like our tortoiseshell calico, and your most recent one sounds JUST LIKE our new kitty. The older one has always been solitary and quiet. She just wants her food and a bit of lap-time once a day or so. The, uh, standard calico screams and cries when she's left alone, and she's super social and outgoing. She's such a sweet and loving little thing. If you saw her give affection without seeing her body, somehow, you'd think she was a dog instead of a cat. 😅 She rides on my shoulder around the house!
My beautiful 7year old rescue calico is a very sweet, affectionate lap cat. I don’t believe she fits the typical temperament description. She’s an absolute pleasure-best cat in the world ❤❤❤
I’ve only had one calico and she was the sweetest, most maternal cat I’ve seen. She had a fun personality and slapped our golden retriever if he trespassed on her space. I’d love to adopt another calico, but I’ve had a hard time finding one at shelters and rescues.
@pilarq7886 I just put down my 19.5 year old calico baby. She was always mothering someone, just so loveable and unique. Take care of your baby, we are the lucky ones to have such special friends for so long. 🥹
That is probably because calicos are not as common as the video says, and they are so loved that relatively few are surrendered to shelters (they are likely to be homed by their owners or rescuers). If one does get surrendered to a shelter, she is likely to be quickly adopted unless she is over seven years old, or does not get along with other pets. Have you tried notifying rescuers that you are specifically looking for a calico?
I just got a dilute calico a few weeks ago!! She is very playful but sweet, purrs and follows me around constantly. She’s only a year old. She nips a little bit when she’s excited or annoyed but not hard. I love her!!
12:07am I had a really sweet Calico and she was totally am indoor cat. I was given my choice to choose 1 from a litter of 4. Having every intention to get a white one. The white one scratched me and seemed to careless about me. And the Calico just hung on and wouldn't let go of me. Guess she chose me,glad she did. Didn't automatically appear to want to be a lap cat. I would sit put her back in my lap. As I brushed my hand gently over her, speaking softly. She and I both found it to be our favorite, I found my comfortable seat in the evening. She found my lap as soon as I sat down to relax. Unfortunately, she had gotten cancer. And only had her 8yrs.
Great video. We have been adopted by a stray dilute calico who we rescued off a roof. She has quite the personality. We are certain that we were catfished because when she was trying to get us to let her in the house, she was the sweetest thing ever. Once we did the real “cattitude” came out. She believes she owns the place now🐱
I had a female calico cat for 15 years. She was an indoor/outdoor cat. Later in life, she wanted to be outside all the time. She never left our backyard, so we let her stay out. Roxy was very independent. She would only eat one kind of food. If there was a light rain, she would sit with her legs tucked under and stay out in it.
My Calico just seems to be smarter than any other cat I have had in the past. If I tell her to go into the kitchen and eat her food rather than have a treat she looks me in the eye and just does what is asked. She just does odd things. When I have a dropper to squeeze medicine in her mouth she just turns looks at me and opens her mouth wide and takes her med. I’ve had cats all my life and she is just different. She does not like being held, and will not lay on any laps..she sleeps right next to me, not on me. Anyway, she is a wonderful cat a beautiful.
My Calico cat us kind of stubborn. She likes to get petted when she feels like it. It's also a very curious cat. She watches me workout and stuff like that. However, I love her.
*I rescued a calico kitten I saw in the hospital where my mum was admitted. She’s 2.4 years old now, and she’s the chillest cat we ever have at home. She’s very introverted and quickly fears things, noises, and new people. She also likes being alone and rarely plays with my other cats. Unlike my other two male cats, she doesn’t like playing rough. She’s also not a very active cat, so according to her vet, she’s overweight for a domestic shorthair. We are now making her play and jump more so she can burn fat and lose weight to keep her healthy.*
I have a calico cat my brother found as a newborn in the street, she’s now 3 and she’s the biggest blessing. She loves being babied, loves kisses, she gives everyone except me an attitude if it isn’t the right time to pet. She loves when I sing to her, especially if I place her name in the song, i try not to cry because it upsets her a lot, she’s the sweetest little baby. She has an extra thumb and an extra toe, she has cute spots on her lips and her white paws. She has a black mask like robin and her snout is white except her nose is black it was shaped like a heart when it first started to come in. She’s quite perfect, one ear is orange and one is black. My grey white Siberian is calm and lovely, she doesn’t like cuddles but allows to be petted, she’s super sweet and protective but very independent. Unlike my calico who is needy and loves being cuddled.
I adopted a female calico 3 years ago, and she is a weirdo: since she was a kitten she loves armpits. She will put her face in my armpit, her paws around my shoulder, and go crazy on the sniffing (I swear I am a clean person 🤣). She is also super chatty, always talking and makes so many different types of noise. She is sweet and loves to cuddle, not aggressive at all!
We actually have 4 calicos. 2 of them standard patch, one long hair, one short. Both very opinionated but 95% very loving as well. Then 2 adorably beautiful dilute calico tabby sisters. Got them as bottle babies - foster fail. One is a brat and just absolutely does what she wants. Climbs out over fenced in porch, opens drawers and doors but also sweet. Her sister docile and loving. And both so pretty
I've had 2 calicos - my first was "traditional" black/orange, also a polydactyl, and had endless patience. Her sassiness was entirely concentrated in her air raid siren meows when picking her up from the vet lol. She'd never draw her nails or anything, just MOOOWWWW and give you a look 🧐 My current one is a 15 year old dilute calico (grey and beige) and is ~*SPICY*~. Personality wise, she follows me around like a dog but is still cuddly, just on her own terms (usually at night when I need to go to bed...). This one I frequently think was a blessing it is she didn't get thumbs or the trouble we'd ALL be in 😂. She has that tortitude 100% and she's not afraid to use it 😤💅
My calico female cat definitely has that attitude! My family and I call her "the queen of Sheba," because she acts like she is the queen of the house! She has a tendency to bully the other cats, and acts aggressive even to her own kittens. My family knows not mess with her as she gives us the "death stare" lol. Great video BTW! 😼😼😻
Mine too! She didn't like her own kittens, didn't even wanted to nurse them. Now we also have russian blue cat, and she hates him. He tries to melt her heart, he is very sweet boy, but it is not working. But, she loves our dog very much, she is very gentle with dog.
My Clico's personality is pretty awesome. She lets me know when it's time to go to bed and MUST sleep with her head on my outstretched arm.....every single night. Loves to go for walks and sticks right by my side, never venturing far from me, even indoors..One time a young male cat came around and my cat would hiss & growl at it...even though it was super friendly and sweet. A neighbor moved in a few weeks ago and has a Black & White (but no orange) cat that is friendly as well (not sure of the sex). As the nights are cool, I leave my front door open, and my cat let this strange cat inside and just watched it roam around. It surprised me to see my cat let this stranger inside to explore her turf. Strange. My cat has been spayed.
My tortie is a bit aloof. She is the daughter of a long haired affectionate tabby but she displays none of these feelings. I’ve gotta wait till she’s in the mood before I can pet her. And that only lasts for about a minute. But, all in all, I love my Robbie just as much as my Luc, even though it doesn’t look like she loves me back. Kitties!
my Calico cat JayBird was very vocal and affectionate. she liked to be up high and was always very active and attentive when I was around her. I lost her last year and miss her lots! I called her Jay because she had a large upside down J in red across her face. her siblings would chase her and in black and white her sweet face looked like war paint.. After she passed away I was calling out to her some days after her burial and I heard her meow in the kitchen where she sat on the top of the range where the dials are . I ran to see and recognized her voice. I clearly heard it once and only once but it was her. she musta really wanted me to hear her. And my other cats who have passed away have always let me know in their own special way that they are ok on the other side. It's comforting.. anyway thank you for the show and enjoy!! God bless you and your family!!
I have torbie's. But, Daisy, the one with more orange loves the sound of her hiss. She also bites me, on the bicep first, to relax and snuggle with me. She is a guard cat too
I have a Calico, and she has a definite aggressive side. She was a few weeks from being put down if she could not be socialized. I fostered her for a few weeks and knew she would not be socialized quickly. I did get her spayed. She is now 10 years old. She is kept separate from the other cats because they will bully her. Interestingly, she is very affectionate and loving.
I can confirm calico cat tortitude. My mom's torti shell cat was fierce and refused to let you hold her or pick her up. Both calico's I've had in my adult life were both happy with me picking them up and carrying them around, but when push came to shove with other cats, they were alpha boss of the household and outside with strange neighborhood cats.
True I have a calico cat and she is fierce with other cats and tend to make any territories hers. She’s like a boss. But the thing is she’s very clingy and cute when she’s around human or other cats she grow up with. She’s going to be 6 years old. Calico cats are very unique in my opinion and I love them❤
My calico was rescued from a distressed situation. At the beginning she was purring all the time and wanted to be with me like a koala. Then she became more independent . I’m am the only person that she wants to be on my lap . She is not agresive but she is not friendly with other people than me or my husband. I love that she only wants to be with me ❤ . Makes me feel special.
A calico I named “barn kitty” for a while just showed up. She would sit out there all day with the chickens and I noticed she was eating chicken feed. She was automatically so sweet and loving. Appears to be about six months-ish old. Fast forward and she’s not “barn kitty” anymore. She’s Queen of the house and I didn’t know a kitty could give so much love. I’ve always had cats for 46 years but Cali is the most loving. She lays with my Aussiedoodle and they wash each other!!!!!!❤❤
Calico and tortoiseshells have more in common than not is my take on it. As tortsies a Calico have almost the same psyche and both are independent and very social at the same time. I love these cats, but in fact I love all cats! Greetings from a crazy cat man. Cats are lovely whatever they look !!
I have a Calico, her name is Luna aka Lunatic. She will be 6 months tomorrow. There is not a dull moment with her. She loves to jump on her big brother & start fights. She teases the "elderly" Chihuahuas. And she loves to do zoomies at 2 a.m., when we are asleep. I will wake up enough to turn on kitty tv so she can watch birds & squirrels. And we can get a few hours of sleep. I love her personality & I love her crazy butt! 😂❤ Oh and her coat is very pretty to me. The best way to describe it is, her back side is Orange with black stripes (like a tiger). Tail included. One white spot at the back of her neck. Her belly, legs and throat area are all white. And she is also incredibly smart little girl too! 🥰
I have a cali (adopted from the Shelter). She was declawed, unfortunately. She hisses and bites and swats. She's a love-bug IF SHE WANTS TO BE. Very affectionate - as long as she decides she wants attention. Needless to say, I adore her anyway and accept her terms.
I have a calico, her name is Puddy. I like to refer to her as my insolent teenager. Everything is on her terms, and she absolutely hates being picked up although I think that may have something to do with some trauma, she endured as a kitten. She has a very dark coat with patches of orange throughout, and only White on her under side and paws. You can see the tabby striping on her legs. She loves to be close to you, but never actually close enough for you to be able to touch her unless she wants it. Once in a while, she will come up and cuddle on your chest for a short time and drool in purr but then she will go find her blanket and make her biscuits, and then curl up and go to sleep. She never actually sleeps or naps on my lap. She has a very distinct personality, very human like and will chatter back to you if you talk to her. But even though she was very aloof, and everything is on her terms, I love her to death.
My calico is a very sweet, gentle and loving girl. The only time I heard her hiss was when my brothers dog had her backed into a corner and she was scared. She’s never bitten or swiped either. She does sometimes accidentally scratch me when I pick her up and her claws are getting long and sharp. But if she sees she hurt me she rubs herself to wherever I got scratched.
I got my calico cat 2 years ago and she is very sweet and loving but she also fits the description a bit, since she can get very sassy when she gets bored or bothered. Funny enough she’s pretty similar to my personality 😂 The more I learn about her the more I see myself in her and my friends who knows her says the same
I loved my Calico. Missy was her name. She was overly protective of me. She growled, hissed, swatted pretty much anyone that came near her. She had OCD. She loved her sweets and treats. I miss her so much.
Basically I have a calico cat. I came across another calico once and firmly thought it was mine. exactly the same patterns in the same places on the face without any difference even when analyzing this cat and mine in the deepest detail.
I happen to have one of those rare male Calicos, he's even more rare because he was fertile (until we got him neutered)! The vet referred to him as a Chimera. Fionn fathered 9 offspring, 3 of which still live with us. Our male Calico is now 7 and livin' his best life! ~Chris
❌So interesting! I had the good fortune of finding an adorable little calico this week outside my door. She looks to be about 10 weeks old & very vocal 😸 She was cold, hungry, & tired. It’s been down to zero centigrade at night. I think she had been after birds at my feeder. Super stoked to have found her! I recently had to put down my 16 pound Nebelung. He was a beauty that I had found on a walking trail 15 years ago. I was gonna wait a bit before getting another, but this “lucky cat” came out of nowhere. Well, she picked the right person. I’m planning on spoiling her rotten just like my last cat. Her tail is as long as her body. She looks like a chipmunk 🐿🤣haha!
Gracie, my 3 yr old female calico is the queen bee of the house. She needs to know where everybody is and what they are doing. She loves my husband and males seem to be her favorites. Loves to be held and even carried around. Does NOT like to be alone even thou she has a 3 yr old male rescue, Archie (3 times her size). Gracie still looks to be under 1yr of age and weights only 8lbs. Petite and a demanding little diva! My husband and I cannot even think about her being out of our lives. We rescued her at 7 months from a post on line. She was scooted outside because she talks a LOT!! Couldn't bear this cutie to be outside so young, so she is now safe inside and loved!
The only breed of cat that I've noticed as a specific type of shared personality traits is Siamese Cats. Every one of them will bite you if you pet it too long. You should do a video on the Siamese Cat breed.
My mom always said our caliby has some Siamese traits. I can indeed not pet her too long or in the wrong place or I will get bit or slapped at but other than that she's very affectionate.
Cali's are absolutely the best cats (along with black😊). I find they're very intelligent, less fearful, more protective and stand out from the crowd. I have a Tortie who will stand up to dogs to protect the pack. She will stop fights if one of the other cats is sick, weak, older or a kitten and is unable to defend themselves. Calico's and Torties and loving, affectionate and vocal and sooooo sweet. They don't get into mischief (like my boys) even as kittens they're well behaved. I have been rescuing kitties all my life. My parents rescued both cats and dogs when living in different countries, so I grew up with a love for animals. Calico's are very special. I find black cats are also very different and equally beautiful personalities they're smart, incredibly loving and adaptive. They also seem to love dogs more than all the other colors. Calico's are so affectionate with owners also very nurturing towards others. However, if you have stepped (figuratively speaking) on their toes, you will certainly hear about it!
I've adopted my Calico Cat back in 2017 and she was at the time 2 years old; She was the won who walk up to me, smell my hand and licked it; she chosen me. Presently 2024 she been my fury roommate with a mind of her own and very well trained. She sleeps anywhere she fills comfortable and she friendly to strangers but to other cats (male cats that is). She always sleeps next to me and lay next to me while I'm watching tv or sitting down at my laptop. She's my little fury friend forever.
I have 2 Calibies, both female and they are VERY feisty. Extremely playful and love to "play fight". When the 2nd one was introduced, the bonding period was very rough. The first one just wouldn't have it. She was furious and growled and hissed at the 2nd one constantly. But a week later, they seem to be best pals, constantly playing with each other. They are 2 months apart. The first one is predominantly white with patches of tabby and 2 orange patches. The second one is "cream" with small patches of black and white. Both are loving, but the "cream" one is much more loving.
OMG this makes So much sense 😂 we found a caliby kitten 4 mo ago and my mom kept her because I already have a cat. But Wow, She is a handfull 😂 she doesn’t walk, She runs, se jumps on everything from humans to furniture, She attacks & bites (hope she’ll outgrow that a bit😅). She Could play for days. A cat like No other, That’s for sure 😊
😲😲😲 oh wow my baby Dru is Calico!! On her adoption paper they regarded her as Tortoiseshell so that's what I thought she was, even made comments on videos about her calling her tortoiseshell. But her feet all have white socks, she has a white bib under her chin and very small thin white line just above her nose. She's CALICO
Loved this! I have had 10 cats, and I've never had a Calico (or siamese). I know one of my next cats were a Calico, I 'll be looking at all of the calico combinations of nearby cats.🐱
I have a loving diluted calico with grey and tan spots on her head and back..She is very smart and affectionate only to me.... Calico cats are beautiful and rare in my neighborhood.....
I have had probably 50 cats in my life. I am 62 this year. The love of my life was a beautiful black tabby that I saved and gave CPR too when she got trapped in her Mama at birth. From the moment she breathed for me she never wanted her Mom but me. She would crawl away from her and head to me so I had to pet her as she fed off her Mom. That lasted for a very short time until she found my ear and cat food. I have Crohn's Disease and as she grew she would constantly kneed my hot and sore spots on my belly. She slept on my head and with me and my husband for 19 1/2 years! I have never in my life had an animal that so adored me or I adored as much as my Latte! I lost her 4 years ago and I still cry if I talk about her. I never wanted another after she passed! The Lord has different plans sometimes and a poor baby rare female orange tiger tabby found it's way into our home after being dumped in our ditch. So here we go again. Calico cats are to me the best of breads especially the black coloration tabby's. They truly are the Coat of Many Color best choice for me. If God loves me as much as she did When I get to heaven that sweet baby will be running to great me! Please let it be so!
I have a cat, Calico. When I found him, I didn't know that he was mostly female, so I named him Józek. This is my first and probably the cutest cat in the world. He loves playing and combing his fur. He often behaves like a dog and walks at your heel and generally likes to be around people. I had no contact with cats before and now I can't imagine not having a cat in the workshop - I often call it a furry worker. Catching mice, a bowl and a blanket for sleeping are included in the contract. You can see the recordings on my channel.
The cat I grew up with was a calico, very beautiful and affectionate, but more my mother's cat than mine. She was notable in that she could be petted for an extended time: half an hour or more, before getting agitated. My mother told me that the cat would spend all night snuggled up near her face. The Somali/tabby mix who showed up on my patio in 1986 got twitchy and tried to bite after only about 2 minutes. My current cat, an 8-year-old tuxedo who chose me at an adoption fair, has a little more tolerance. All my cats have been females, but that is coincidental as far as I know. I think that any attempt to assign behavioral characteristics based on coat color is questionable and affected by small sample sizes.
My 2. Calicos have been very playful, courageous, demanding in a cute way, and smart. Affectionate, too since they demanded you pet them. Also werentas friendly to the boys….so that hypothesis of the female characteristics seems to be true with mine. I think they are so special😊
I know this video is a year old but I have a calico now and she is insanely daring but also really smart. She figured out how to open cabinets and how to get my attention, while also being the most hyper thing in the world. She is really cuddly too at the same time, just not when she’s jumping off 20 foot ledges. It’s funny because her brother is just calm and always tired of her sh*t
Our caliby cat certainly has a personality, hissing and biting if you get in her way too much and defending her territory fiercely from other cats although hiding when there's people visiting. But she will mostly be playful, speak her mind if she wants something and be on your lap or end of the bed. Also very affectionate and welcoming you when you return home.
I have 2 Calicos they only have white on their paws and stomach. I love how they have the split pattern of black on one side and orange on the other. I know my 2 are very shy around new people but are the sweetest and loving.
My susie is the best cat I've ever had her brother was an ginger and white boy since he passed aways she has become more vocal and she seems to understand that I'm still grieving and still love her and him the same way ❤
I have NINE CATS, one of which is a TUXEDO. The others are: Two Orange (one shorthair, on long hair) Two Totrties One Calico One Black One Tabby One grey and white. *The TUXEDO is sweet, loving, and has the most anxiety. * The ORANGE cats both have the 'Garfield' personality. *The TORTIES...typical TORTITUDE. *CALICO is very sweet. *The BLACK cat is very intelligent and behaves like my dog. Loves to go for walks...exact time every day. *The GREY and WHITE cat is loving to the point of being needy. *The TABBY has no particular personality traits. Obviously, there are more personality details, but these are the prominent traits of my cats. Hope this helps.🐈⬛🐈
My calico cat is very sweet, but not super affectionate. She's definitely a loner. Though she does sleep with me at night and she suckles her blanket before falling asleep. She will only play with a laser light and no other toys. She was found as a stray when I adopted her. She definitely does not roam or leave the yard. I don't know what her past was like. They thought she was a year and a 1/2 when I adopted her, but I think she's much older. She loves to eat, too much. She's a chubby girl. 😊
My calico is a angel 😇 she would never hiss or swat at anyone she would rather hide. My other two tabbys both were males with attitudes if angry they hiss, but otherwise very affectionate cats.
I thought my cat was a calico, but my veterinarian says she's tortoiseshell with white. She has a white belly, white paws and some white on her nose. Other than that she's vibrantly orange and black brindle, with orange tabby stripes on both back legs ... a beautiful patchwork! Yes, indeed ... she's got major tortitude!
I've had tons of cats and have eight currently two are calibys... They are sisters they have a large and in charge kind of attitude do not like other animals but love people ...they don't even like each other much lol The rest of the cats very friendly with each other and other animals
damn right torti/calicos have strong personalities I had a calabi adopt me! She jumped into my window to say hi and started to visit every week until it was daily, then I woke one morning to find her in bed with me! She was very very swatty and hissy at first - eventually after a couple of months one day she rolled over to let me stroke her belly. Then, that was it we were equals ! I named her Jumper and she’d respond to her name. After a hard day at work she’d run the length of the street to greet me. Then would play it cool in public. Lol Sometimes I think she thought she was my mum and would tell me off if I started being silly with daft singing - give me that look. Could have whole conversations with her.. . and one day when I had like a PTSD crying episode. She jumped off the window sill, where she was sat keeping watch, and stayed snuggled by my leg. Looking up at me every few seconds I miss her dearly - didnt see her after the day I was evicted through a ‘no fault’ eviction and was made street homeless. I’m in a homeless hostel for military veterans surviving stress (I’m ex Royal Navy) … Not allowed pets here. As soon as I get my own place - no iffs no buts - I’m getting a torti/calico! Reply
My ex mother in law gave me a 3 week old calico kitten as a housewarming gift.I knew nothing about cats,so I raised her like a dog.she played fetch, always wanted to go with me to stores,a lot like "Walter " from the Chevy Truck commercials. She lived till she was 16,miss her every day.
My Calico just gave birth today .She delivered 3 kitties 2 orange and white and 1 black and orange . She surprised me I didn't know she was pregnant because she only 1 year old Calico cat . She is very sweet and playful cat , I love ❤️ her so much .
my calico female definitely has an independent tortitude😂she’s not fond of my sister and i picking her up, she demands water from the sink frequently by meowing (despite having a water fountain), and she can swat or bite at me suddenly when she doesn’t want to be pet anymore. despite this, she also has a loving side and can get very cuddly and up close with me and my family
No black patches on ours. Just tabby and white with white feet. The most sweet cat I ever had. loves to play and sleep next to us while purring all the time. Took her off the streets as a kitten and is in better shape. Very kid friendly that I have to get the kids to back off from her. Name is Mittens
My calico cat is named Cookie's n cream, and she is the type of cat that just wants to sit next to you. I do hyperrealism sketching and sometimes I'm sitting for hours at a time so focused on my work, I look up after few hours and realise that Cookie is still next to me and then I start petting her. So much time can go by, and she just sits with you, no meow no purring nothing just quietly sitting there with me giving me company and moral support ❤
There's actually a second way for a male cat to be calico/tortoiseshell. Chimerism is when an organism has cells that are genetically distinct from one another. Basically, two embryos fuse extremely early on in development, so a black male could fuse with a ginger male, resulting in a male tortoiseshell (technically, they aren't genetically tortoiseshell). Male-female fused chimeras are also a thing. Theoretical a cat with chimerism could have 4 distinct patches of color. For example, if a chocolate tortie fused with a tuxedo kitten, you'd get a cat with brown, ginger/cream, black, and white.
My CALICO cat. She is white with black patches. After 10 years and this video l checked and found that the under-fur near her face is orange. My little girl has, over time, become bonded to me. She is sweet, friendly and after years of socializing likes pets. She is OCD, and skittish. She HATES change except at dinner we play WHERE DO YOU WANT YOUR FOOD TODAY? Otherwise she sticks to her schedule. If l try to make my breakfast first she stands in my way and STARES at me. If l go to bed later (she, her cat brother and l sleep in the same room) she whacks my leg (no claws out) until l retire or give her a treat. Her name is Tippy because she has a white poof at the end of her black tail. She is an ex-feral kitten and a sweetheart,.
1 pm My calico is beautiful. She is very independent. Does like our gray tabby at all. Loves to be petted when she wants. She climbs all over me if I'm not awake when she wants something.
I have a Torbie with an attitude! Recently she was cuddled up during a chilly morning but later that night she became very hissy and was growling at me for no apparent reason 😬
Nice informative video, my calico has 5 colors, appart from black, white and orange, she has cream on one of her front paws and on her lower jaw and also a deep redish on her back, also she has stripes on one of her legs (which's orange) and she has a mole (or freckle) on her nose XD
My calico who I named Cali is obsessed with hunting gophers. She doesn't eat them, just waits outside their holes patiently. Then she'll go to my neighbor's yard and exterminate their gophers. She sleeps next to me every night and when I'm home she's usually close by. Cali is also shy around other people and territorial with other cats. Cali loves playing with string and chasing little foam Nerf balls.
Depends on the cat. My first calico cat was very... regal. She liked receiving pets, but hated being picked up and it was a rare treat every couple weeks when she decided to join you on the couch for an extended cuddle session. My next cat was a dilute tortoiseshell. She was more like a toddler than a cat, always wanting to be held, hugged, loved on, extremely needy and cuddly. My current calico cat seems to have inherited the "orange cat brain cell" because there are no thoughts in that pretty head of hers. I have seen her hunt down and eat a bug, then cry and look around wondering where the bug went for the next five minutes. No thoughts. Head empty. Like the first calico, she loves pets but doesn't like being picked up. Unlike the first calico, she seeks me out for cuddles every night, sometimes multiple times a day. The rest of the time she just wants to play. The only cat with an attitude I've had is my other current cat, a grey tabby girl who wakes each day actively choosing violence, but I think that's mostly due to her chaotic first six weeks of life than anything to do with her coloration.
I rescued a calico kitten 3weeks old. I have 2 other rescues i have had for 17 years. Both are not calico. She is now 1 year old. She has a attitude she will bit swat but sheeps on my chest she is playfull gets on with my other older cats. She is awesome.
My father has three calico's, all siblings. Then they arent busy tryingbto slash any hoomin dumb enough to get withing striking distance, they usually turn on each other! Oh and super smart.
My Tortoiseshell are very stubborn and might bite. My other Calico are very independent with strong personality, they set the rules for other cats and human around them. Brats!
Black male--mostly super sweet, loves to cuddle and play and sleep. Female tabby-very playful, eats everyones food, has started to cuddle, but loves to sleep near. Then we have the female orange, white, grey. She seems like she wants to be sweet, but has very random moments of meanness towards us and other cats. The black male and female tabby are true siblings. they have been such since 5 minutes into meeting each other. only issue they have is male does try to mount her here and there. at first the male and calico got along. she would try to sleep with him, but then she got aggressive and they fought alot. the tabby and her had issues at first, but once we got the food issue settled the tabby has no issues with her. like i said, she loves everyone's food. the issue now is we can't get the calico to lay with us. she just hovers near with ugly glare but looks like she wants to belong. and she is either on good terms with the male but not the tabby or with the tabby but not the male. she is on prozac, which has helped. she was found on road and locked in room until we took her in. we had the two cats, plus two dogs, plus two boys, and were in the middle of redoing floors on bottom story of home. vet said she had ptsd. which i get. the house was crazy chaotic when we took her in. not the best timing, but she was going to be put down and her and our autstic son do have a special bond. she sleeps with him and is never mean towards him or gives him ugly looks. any tips on how to help her feel more at home and loved would be great.
My calico cat is very protective of her home. She will chase away dogs that get on the lawn. She is jealous when I pet other cats. She will hiss and claw at the other cat until I pet her. She then purrs very loudly and is quite content when I pet her.
I adopted one week ago a Caliby (Caliby right? 😅) and she's spicy but not as much as my orange cat. Caliby name is Miso Mei and when she puts her mind into something like bite my cords she just sticks to it regardless of many No's, putting a toy in front of her or putting her in another space. She doesn't like to be held or being in the lap and she likes to be petted when she's almost falling asleep or when she wakes up and that's it.
Just today I adopt a calico cat
Your older cat was just like our tortoiseshell calico, and your most recent one sounds JUST LIKE our new kitty. The older one has always been solitary and quiet. She just wants her food and a bit of lap-time once a day or so.
The, uh, standard calico screams and cries when she's left alone, and she's super social and outgoing. She's such a sweet and loving little thing. If you saw her give affection without seeing her body, somehow, you'd think she was a dog instead of a cat. 😅 She rides on my shoulder around the house!
My calico is 12 and is the exact same way as your current!
That’s amazing, the last cat you mentioned has the exact same personality as my calico cat, lol
@@harrywu3102 haha same
My beautiful 7year old rescue calico is a very sweet, affectionate lap cat.
I have a beautiful sweet healthy 19year old diluted calico if i die you take care of her
@pilarq7886 I just put down my 19.5 year old calico baby.
She believes she owns the place now🐱
She does own the place, she just lets you stay there because she can't open the food container. 😜
However, I love her.
no mine is lazy and dumb
*I rescued a calico kitten I saw in the hospital where my mum was admitted. She’s 2.4 years old now, and she’s the chillest cat we ever have at home. She’s very introverted and quickly fears things, noises, and new people. She also likes being alone and rarely plays with my other cats. Unlike my other two male cats, she doesn’t like playing rough. She’s also not a very active cat, so according to her vet, she’s overweight for a domestic shorthair. We are now making her play and jump more so she can burn fat and lose weight to keep her healthy.*
My calico cat is the opposite. A stray I rescued off the street. She's bold and brave and pregnant rn.
I'm so lucky somedays I feel like I'm dreaming.
My calico was a sassy, feisty girl but she was an affectionate love bug at the same time
Ive had one Calico and she was very vocal, and quite the lover. She craved affection. I couldn't pet or brush her without she getting excited.
We had a beautiful male Calico for many years, sweet as sugar, I think he inherited the ginger gene for being a loving cat. Sure do miss him!
Wow! That's very rare congregation's
Cats get off to human pheromones from example Armpits. Purrfectly normal.
I have a long haired calico who is sweet and drools like crazy. She's a boss that doesn't take crap from my other cats.
I have had 3 calico cats and they all had the same personality... Talkative, bold and
confident, and very loving to their "staff."
I've had 2 calicos - my first was "traditional" black/orange, also a polydactyl, and had endless patience. Her sassiness was entirely concentrated in her air raid siren meows when picking her up from the vet lol. She'd never draw her nails or anything, just MOOOWWWW and give you a look 🧐
My current one is a 15 year old dilute calico (grey and beige) and is ~*SPICY*~.
She also has "death stare", and my favorite "you disgust me" if we pet other cat 😂
Calico cats are very unique in my opinion and I love them❤
My wife and I rescued a Calico about 8 years ago and at the time I wasn't a cat person, but she changed all that. Chillest animal I have ever owned.
Two calico sisters. One sweet. One spicy 🌶️. And a Tortie who is gradually trading her tortitude for sweetness. Love all three.
She lays with my Aussiedoodle and they wash each other!!!!!!❤❤
Love my Calicos!
Oh and her coat is very pretty to me. The best way to describe it is, her back side is Orange with black stripes (like a tiger). Tail included. One white spot at the back of her neck. Her belly, legs and throat area are all white. And she is also incredibly smart little girl too! 🥰
I have a Calico named Luna too. She is a total loon 😂 but I love her to bits ❤
What a cute name!!
I just got a adult one she is amazing so loving ❤
I got my calico cat 2 years ago and she is very sweet and loving but she also fits the description a bit, since she can get very sassy when she gets bored or bothered. Funny enough she’s pretty similar to my personality 😂 The more I learn about her the more I see myself in her and my friends who knows her says the same
Thanks for the info I have a calico cat her name is Cally and she is my life. Love your channel so far glad to see many cat lovers here 😎❤️
I loved my Calico. Missy was her name. She was overly protective of me. She growled, hissed, swatted pretty much anyone that came near her. She had OCD. She loved her sweets and treats. I miss her so much.
I have a 18 yr old Calico that's so demanding. She is lovable and attached to me. Follows me everywhere.
~Chris
I have a calico who is also polydactyl. Ive never scene so much personality in such a small thing! Shes so unique with her 27 toes
I also found this kind this week and planning to take her home 😊
I see so much in my neighbors cat eyes😁so sweet
Nice video. Their genetics is interesting.
Thank you very much for posting these videos!
Thank you, Charles!
One like for beautiful cats. 😍
My susie is the best cat I've ever had her brother was an ginger and white boy since he passed aways she has become more vocal and she seems to understand that I'm still grieving and still love her and him the same way ❤
She's my first female cat aswell ❤
I have NINE CATS, one of which is a TUXEDO.
The others are:
Two Orange (one shorthair, on long hair)
Two Totrties
One Calico
One Black
One Tabby
One grey and white.
They are sisters they have a large and in charge kind of attitude do not like other animals but love people ...they don't even like each other much lol
The rest of the cats very friendly with each other and other animals
damn right torti/calicos have strong personalities
I had a calabi adopt me!
Lol
Sometimes I think she thought she was my mum and would tell me off if I started being silly with daft singing - give me that look. Could have whole conversations with her.. . and one day when I had like a PTSD crying episode. She jumped off the window sill, where she was sat keeping watch, and stayed snuggled by my leg. Looking up at me every few seconds
I miss her dearly - didnt see her after the day I was evicted through a ‘no fault’ eviction and was made street homeless.
I’m in a homeless hostel for military veterans surviving stress (I’m ex Royal Navy) … Not allowed pets here.
As soon as I get my own place - no iffs no buts - I’m getting a torti/calico!

My cat had 2 kittens. One was orange and white. Another one was black and white.
My Calico just gave birth today .She delivered 3 kitties
2 orange and white and 1 black and orange .
I want a video about the host of this channel 😃. Wheres she's from, what she's passionate about, how many cats she has etc
Never gonna happen. Creeps like you chased her off the Internet
❤ my calico and tortoiseshell!
My cat’s name is Calico, didn’t know it’s a coat pattern. She looks more like a tabby 😂 love her so much
I have a Torbie with an attitude! Recently she was cuddled up during a chilly morning but later that night she became very hissy and was growling at me for no apparent reason 😬
I highly agree that calicos have more of a “catitude”. I love calicos because of that.
The state cat of Maryland looks like our glorious banner
People that have been involved in this situation have changed their lives
The only cat with an attitude I've had is my other current cat, a grey tabby girl who wakes each day actively choosing violence, but I think that's mostly due to her chaotic first six weeks of life than anything to do with her coloration.
i have a 9 month old calico tabby and she’s so spunky. if we dont let her out the room, she grabs the handle and opens the door herself
I rescued a calico kitten 3weeks old. I have 2 other rescues i have had for 17 years. Both are not calico. She is now 1 year old. She has a attitude she will bit swat but sheeps on my chest she is playfull gets on with my other older cats. She is awesome.
Yo siempre quise tener una gata calico, la adopté y soy muy feliz con mi pequeña tricolor❤

I have a 12 year old calico cat, she is great 2:28
CALICO CAT!!!!
