    Just bought a 1980 CB650 and I really like the way you've done this. The guy I bought mine from is a mechanical engineer and has kept the entire service history of the bike. It currently has rear-mounted pegs with the shifter flipped. Ill probably do a linkage like what you've done in the future lol

    Just binge watched your build series, what an amazing job! I have a 1982 CB650 with the spoked wheels too. Did some work a few years ago to get it running and rode it a lot in college. This series just gave me the boost I needed to do the real rebuild I’ve always wanted.
    I know you mentioned in other comments that you would have an excel sheet with parts/vendors, did you ever make that video or put it out? Definitely gonna be leaning on your videos through this summer rebuild. I’m sad you sold the bike it was a beauty, but congrats again on the build!

    This bike it absolutely clean. I mean I’m not gonna lie my potential for building a bike is probably how you got it. That why I just stick to my drz it’s got some mods like a stroker kit and a list but the ability to but a bike together like this is beyond simple mechanics. This take a planing. A lot of planing this is like designing a bike a whole bike outta an idea. I really wish I could pull that off

    - What year was this bike from?

    - Any other tips you would give on starting a cafe project?

      -1982 CB650
      -I think I paid about $2k including a second motor; the bike kind of ran but otherwise was in poor condition, i probably paid too much for it
      -A lot of hours, probably close to 100; including the bike, the total bill got close to $10k
      -Just lots of patience; these bikes are pretty easy to work on it just takes a lot of time

    What model of the rick’s regulator rectifier did you use specifically? There are quite a couple of them. I’m actually doing a very similar build. I first did it without changing the electronics so I didn’t have that full triangle in the middle, left the air box and build some side covers but 5 years later I decided to do it the right way. I’m doing a lot of research, I find your build amazing and very helpful. Hopefully I can pick your brain on some of this things that are going to help me to finish mine.

    Anything you don't like about this chassis/engine?

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  3 года назад +2

      Overall power feels great for a bike of this vintage. The only reason I'd recommend this over a 750 is for a level of uniqueness since 750 is so common. My only major gripe about the frame was the hump in the back, but in the end, I think with the seat I built gives the bike again, something unique to set it a bit apart from all the other cb750 cafe bikes.

      Good luck on the build! Honestly if I had to do it again, I'd do it all mostly the same. I think I probably should have tried more tuning with the original carbs before going with pricey CR29's but they were much easier to tune. The only change I've made since this video is putting on UNI pod filters instead of the velocity stacks because without a rear fender, the tire was literally throwing rocks and other debris straight into the open carbs :)
