Honestly, if I was as experienced as you and making videos about these bikes; I can't imagine a world where I could do it any better than you... you are the standard by which all others should be measured. Nice comparison, to keep up to date with latest models. I would have categorized differently though: - ultra-light (55-70kg): LightBee/Talaria Sting - light (85kg): UltraBee - normal-weight : freeride e-xc, storm-bee - full size/heavy bike: starkvarg - off-category: ...
@YaitsTac I would go for it. Get the version with the Factory or Fastace fork and enjoy it. Even if you're waiting on the Ultra Bee, it'll be several months of time that you could be riding your Talaria!
@@Regdor Your question really reflects your username! Haha. Love it. I can't really verify when the production units will arrive at dealers because it sounds like that is still up in the air. Everyone is still dealing with supply chain/port issues but the safe answer is that the Ultra Bee's will be hopefully be available for purchase within the first half of the 2023, which could mean summer 2023 at the latest. So your dealer is probably correct in giving you the safe answer. The unit I'll be test riding in a few weeks is just a single unit that was sent for that purpose and unfortunately not part of a big container shipment of production bikes.
I’m 6ft tall 195 lbs & just purchased a Sur ron x & I love the light weight & smaller size it makes the bike more fun to ride . I don’t know why it doesn’t come gear down, I went with a 54 tooth & it gained torq & still goes 50 mph . I do a lot of hills & it can be geared down even more .
Glad I found this channel. I ride mountain bikes daily and when I considered an e-bike I started looking at dual sports. Ebikes are too expensive to justify being an early adopter as transportation, reliability and safety are all in the new modest options for less than a MTB. I would love an ebike someday but my budget or income would have to change unless one of the bigger traditional manafacturers off something to compete with a KLR300 or similar options in size/cost. I dont even have to ask if any of these bikes are priced below $6000. Working on and servicing ebikes is still anew deal too but all things equal I would ditch loud and smelly in a heartbeat. Hopefully you cover enduro, smaller sized options late too.
I agree I've wanted something like A Levo for years but I couldn't afford one, So I bought 2 mopeds for $2500 *for both* One 2004 Honda metropolitan for $1000 And a 2019 for $1500 So me and the wife could both Cruz around town and take them camping etc. For the price The 2 mopeds were definitely the better deal and They hold their value, I'm certain I could sell them and get 100% of my money back because I bought them used.
Great comparisation! How is the throttle latency on the start varg? On the ktm e-ex, this is perfect with almost no latency between sudden throttle input and rear wheel movement. I have ridden light bee and zero fxs, and both suffer from too high throttle latency for slow technical riding.
I am sure you have tested the armstrong . I like the way the swingarm is in pivot with the drive sprocket no chain tighting or looseing on rear wheel travel. I also like the adjustable seat height and the light weight . what are your comments on the armstrong xr-e ?
@Colt Middleton For sure! I spent a few weeks with the Armstrong XR-E. The video will be up soon and I don't want to give too much away but I think it has some hits and misses. One of it's strongest attributes is the powertrain. I'll explain what I don't like about it in the review video. Don't want to blast that out here!
Decided on purchasing the EM Escape R. Here in the northeast, most trails are rocky, tight, with downed wood and technical with rocky brook crossing all over the place. Placed a deposit a couple of weeks ago and should be in next week.
Great review and very informative. I have only ridden the Sur Ron LB, the Time ET, and currently own the Velimotor VMX3000 which I believe is the same bike as the Admitjet. Of the 3, I definitely favor the VMX which is somewhat of a KTM Freeride E copy chassis with a 12kw peak, 4 speed transmission motor. I was wondering if you have rode this bike yet and I'm very interested in your opinion on it. I only have around 20 miles on it, but thus far it has been pretty impressive as far as build quality and performance for the price. Keep up the great reviews!
This is very helpful. I've had two T.stings and they super to ride. I have just took up MTB downhill so the sting comes in handy for practice riding at speed over mix terrain.
How about a list of those "To keep a close eye out for" and why? The Varg is my choice - today - but the cost is somewhat prohibitive. Are there any up-and-coming competitors that will compete well against the Varg but have a cost appreciably cheaper?

Really great video! I'm also tired of the robot style best-of videos, & I agree with your assessments of all the bikes from what I can tell. And so that new SurRon Ultra Bee won't be here in the US then? Thanks, finally a proper thorough review.
The XXX seems to be an entry level bike (belt drive, lower power, simpler design, smaller standard battery). It'll probably take the top budget spot next year.
What if im 6'-1" 260lbs, im used to the 450 dirt bike. KTM etc. What bike would you recommend. It needs to be street legal. In the NJ Pine lands the bike needs to be legal for the street.
It's a decent set of choices. However, it's very USA centric. Is most of your audience in the USA? The Storm Bee enduro and street versions have been selling in some countries for a while. I've had mine for over 1 year. The enduro version, so I'd like to nominate it for the best dual-sport. The Zero is more of an adventure bike and not particularly good at that due to range - current battery tech makes adventure touring almost impossible for electric bikes. It's reputed to be quite poor off-road. Dual-sport, to me, means more off-road weighted but with the equipment to make it street legal.
@Martin Foster For sure. We love the viewership from all the countries who watch content on ECR but we are largely speaking to a North American audience when it comes to bike availability. It's a shame that bikes like your Surron Storm Bee aren't street legal in the US but it doesn't help our audience to recommend a bike that they can't buy or can't use as intended. The Storm is indeed a better off road bike than the Zero FX but because you can't plate it in the USA, we can't consider it to be a dual sport here.
Watching THIS channel and others has really got me thinking of an electric dirt bike. I'm 6' - 160lbs., I've been riding for many years, though would need to get back in true riding shape. The Sur-Ron X Light Bee is looking a little small. It costs a LOT to upgrade everything, so I'm counting that one out. The Ultra Bee looks promising, so that is certainly in contention. It is about 6 inches longer and a couple taller in the seat. All the other options for battery, controller, etc. seem to be what you would put into the Light Bee for only $2k more, so it seems a no brainer. I would like to have 18/21 wheels, so that would be an addition. Are there any under 10k bikes that would fit the bill?
@Bob Johnson They did indeed. I think they were before their time. I just don't think the market was ready for it. Almost a similar story with Alta. Not to say that was the reason that Alta went under, because it wasn't. But I think a lot of people were watching from the sidelines and now that they are gone, they are missed. You know what I mean?

Which of all the bikes or any others have the biggest frame. I'm 6'2" and looking for something bigger. The Sur Ron looks mini when Im sitting on it. Id like to take my wife as a passanger sometimes with added foot pegs. Any suggestions?
Stark Varg said they were going to produce bikes by end of 2021. Then they pushed it back to September 2022 and I still don’t believe they have started making the bikes for the people who put deposits down in late 2020 I feel like they will push it back to late 2023 crazy if they do
You are an actual reviewer not just ride video poster. So when can we expect some new reviews on the other bikes mentioned including Artic Leopard ect ?
The Sur -ron light bee don't have power and buy a bike and remove the main components to upgrade is just stupid. Definitely the Time ET or Nicot are much better option that the light bee in this moment. Maybe the ultra bee make more sense
@CarChrisMC For sure man! Yeah, we can only really speak to US stuff because that is where we are based and so is much of our audience. There is a lot of similarities though, Europe has all of these bikes and more!
@@ElectricCycleRider Looked into the Stark and really nothing to compare to next years! Pre ordered 80pk, why not?! 😆 Made in Spain and I live in Spain, so... was logic 😆🤙🏻 Can't wait!
@@CarChrisMC Hell yeah! Very possible that you'll be one of the first to receive yours due to proximity. It's an amazing bike and for sure, why not go 80hp!? You can always dial it back. And trust me, you will. I even dialed back the 60hp bike when I rode it. Bike is an absolute rocket ship.
@@ElectricCycleRider Being able to dial the bike exactely to my likings was the main reason I chose the Tony Stark bike! Even more than the power! Clearly a lot of work has gone in this video, nice work. Quite unfortunate there was no mention of which of those were clutch driven eDirtBikes. A bike without the ability of clutch modulation is absolutely USELESS in extreme enduro. Anyway, thanks for the video, would LOVE to see a future video on clutch-driven eDirtBikes
@@duyenmy1935 Why is it useless in Hard/Extreme enduro? Because the entire time you’re riding the bike by slipping the clutch between 20% to 90%. How does one do pivot-turns (front wheel up, bike stationary) and switch backs on rocky embankments without a clutch? I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong here, honestly. I’d buy an electric dirt bike right now if they had a wet-clutch setup.
Looking for mid sized e-bikes for my 8yo. He had an iron-e (Stacyc) but has out grown it. Also, he is too small for a full size. Help! I’ve been scouring RUclips.
2024 bikes will be available before the Stark Varg gets delivered to anyone. Give the performance class to THE KTM e-freeride, again. This thing has dominated the class like Suzuki did with the RM 125, every World Championship from 1975-1984. With no other manufacture winning that title. HAIL TO THE NEW KING !
Problem is some of these companies have crap customer service especially if you were sent a non working bike. And parts? Good luck . Make sure you research that stuff especially parts availability
I'm digging the trials bike. I grew up around trials competitions because my uncle was a competitive rider. He was one of the first pro motocross racers back in the day. As he got older he got into trials and was one of the pioneers to bring trials to the u.s. He's retired and old now but it was always fun going to his competitions
Problem with bikes out west here is they make no noise, which is good on one hand and bad on another. Horseback riders can't hear you and you pop around a corner and scare a 1200lb animal and you'll lose. No need to mention moose and grizzly bears.
Nah. No ways on the artic leopard vs Escape R. Yea...it's a sick bike, but without that wet clutch, it's just not on the same level of hard core obstacles imo
Agreed. I went through 3 different electric Dirtbikes before I got the Escape R. It's SO much easier on difficult trails its not even fair. Easier than my GasGas 300, Cake Kalk, 72v SurRon...
@@kymitchell I modded my SurRon best I could for my 6'4" body. Its still just too small. My Cake bikes are a good fit for tall guy, but my current favorite bike is Electric Motion Escape R. I find the clutch to be super handy. And in general, I feel like i have 50% more skills on that bike. It climbs like crazy, is the best thing ever in the sand. Its great.
@Crone Jones The whole channel is based around testing these bikes. Check it out. Also added specific links in the description if you want to see the individual reviews and tests of the bikes mentioned in this video.
@@ElectricCycleRider I know you mentioned them for 2023 I was just wondering what your thoughts were on ‘22 model, I have seen a couple good reviews on RUclips and am currently working on on getting one shipped to me from a dealer here in the USA.
@@ronnieelliott7292 For sure. I've heard the same thing. Maybe a little bit on the heavy side but overall a good bike. I should be riding it in the coming few months and will make a specific video about it.
@GsF The Pohlbock looks amazing but we were told that the bike will only be sold in Europe for now. We're talking about bikes that are sold in the United States.
These aren’t real bikes but they should make the world go “Google”hate the fact that I’m not in the states to take the advantage of test driving the “Tesla s” hope all is going well with the attachments keep it up#gravity#
I have nothing against the concept but for my needs they are unfortunately useless. If I spend at least a week in the forest, riding several hours a day these cannot replace my regular dirtbikes. Charging batteries with a generator, solarpanels or buying tens of batteries doesn’t sound sane.

i hope we get more informations about the yamaha one soon
Do a vid on making the Storm bee street legal
Wait… the stark varg is only $13,000?? I thought they would be like double that and around $23,000ish for the varg
The Sur -ron light bee don't have power and buy a bike and remove the main components to upgrade is just stupid. Definitely the Time ET or Nicot are much better option that the light bee in this moment. Maybe the ultra bee make more sense
Thx so much m8, 2023 I will buy one of these! 👌🏻🥳
Shame youtube is 99,99% about US related stuff... we need a European version only
@CarChrisMC For sure man!
Made in Spain and I live in Spain, so... was logic 😆🤙🏻
Can't wait!
I am just worried about the range and how long everything will last...
Living at 900m height here next to a 600 hectare forest, with heights up to 2500m and I drive always at the hardest 😁
Push the sur ron to the finish because your battery is dead . Ohh well. Stark Varg ???? my November 23rd 2022 delivery date where is the bike?? Just bought a KTM Xcw learned alot while waiting 2 years for the STARK Varg . is the bike real I dont know but you see I need to Freaking ride . $ur-ron stock is LAME way to many upgrades needed .
Did You try Delfast ?
I've wanted a E bike like a Levo or similar for years but Can't afford one, So I bought a used Honda metropolitan (gas) used for $1000 in perfect condition with 900 miles on it. Get 100 miles per gallon and Is a way better value, Not to mention I could Sell it and get 100% back at anytime
Which one win in range test?
@electriccyclerider what you say about Drill Evo? Im 6.1 and 225lbs...
Battery range on trials, my height and Weight for this bike...
best bike to mount 2 72volt batteries?
I want maximum range
stark varg insane
These companies NEED to make a model with fatter tires , some cargo carrying capability , much longer range and possibilities of two up ...
Any of these bikes handle a snow bike kit
Why the sur ron over talaria?
Clearly a lot of work has gone in this video, nice work. Quite unfortunate there was no mention of which of those were clutch driven eDirtBikes. A bike without the ability of clutch modulation is absolutely USELESS in extreme enduro. Anyway, thanks for the video, would LOVE to see a future video on clutch-driven eDirtBikes
Why ?
Help! I’ve been scouring RUclips.
really bummed the Storm Bee won't be street-legal.
Do you know any dirt bikes for around $2000 that is about the size of an 85 gas bIke I have a razor e bike but that is way too small
Almost subscribed until that advert
@Sodunk WALES These videos cost us a lot of money to produce and those advertisements allow us to continue to create videos.
When are you doing an update??
I am looking for very light bikes... I am very sorry you don't have this category or not even mention the weight in your list.
A one that doesnt cost as much as a truck would be nice
What about Yamaha trials bike
Are these just single track trail bikes. Keep up with an ALTA. WTF?
Apollo RFN Ares.
Problem is some of these companies have crap customer service especially if you were sent a non working bike. And parts? Good luck . Make sure you research that stuff especially parts availability
Mainly bikes made in China . Let me clarify
I just like my electric dirt bike to look and feel like a dirt bike not a fast mountain bike
Problem with bikes out west here is they make no noise, which is good on one hand and bad on another. Horseback riders can't hear you and you pop around a corner and scare a 1200lb animal and you'll lose. No need to mention moose and grizzly bears.
$TSLA dirt bike?
flux primo ?
I am shopping the Arctic leopard and e motion now I am 6”2 210 and my Segway lifted up and modded still feels small. What is y’all’s take??
@@kymitchell I modded my SurRon best I could for my 6'4" body. Its still just too small. My Cake bikes are a good fit for tall guy, but my current favorite bike is Electric Motion Escape R. I find the clutch to be super handy. And in general, I feel like i have 50% more skills on that bike. It climbs like crazy, is the best thing ever in the sand. Its great.
No test?
@Crone Jones The whole channel is based around testing these bikes. Check it out. Also added specific links in the description if you want to see the individual reviews and tests of the bikes mentioned in this video.
"Stark varg" is swedish and mean "strong wolf"
Sarap Surron80PMH E-bikes okay po Pinoy Philippines Filipino USA😲😲😲
How come no mention of the Nicot e beast, they are available for purchase in ‘22
The Nicot eBeast and eFox were mentioned at 1:16
Expect their availability to improve in the US in 2023.
And where is our bikes ?)
Is ther any bike that is not over 3k dollars
They are just sooooo expensive
our AdmitJet has competitive price, friend
If u order a stark varg today u will probably get the bike in 2025 lmao
i wanna hear about the ones you cant talk about so bad....
@Tesla Dirt Bike?
Pohlbock deserve to be mentioned at least, imo
@GsF The Pohlbock looks amazing but we were told that the bike will only be sold in Europe for now. We're talking about bikes that are sold in the United States.
@@ElectricCycleRider Fair enough
2023
These aren’t real bikes but they should make the world go “Google”hate the fact that I’m not in the states to take the advantage of test driving the “Tesla s” hope all is going well with the attachments keep it up#gravity#
I have nothing against the concept but for my needs they are unfortunately useless. If I spend at least a week in the forest, riding several hours a day these cannot replace my regular dirtbikes. Charging batteries with a generator, solarpanels or buying tens of batteries doesn’t sound sane.
alta
30 min at full power before recharge - No thanks ! I'l keep my Four Fifty
Hopefully not
