The brand new Solar Eclipse Ebike has a featherweight Carbon Fiber frame limiting the weight to just 138lb while simultaneously packing a potent 72v 45ah 3240Wh battery under the hood. This Solar Eclipse Review will show you my experience on this electric dirt bike and what you can expect from it.
All that lithium ion juice is pulled from a 300 amp max 120 amp continuous sine wave controller and sent to a swing arm mounted PMSM electric motor capable of running 2500 watts continuous and cutting you off at 8000w max out of the box stock - although I have received instructions on how to bump this power limit up to untamed this newbie-friendly beast... new video coming soon!
In sport mode the spec sheet claims this electric motorcycle can hit speeds of 60 mph, but the dashboard tells a different story. I hit 55 mph according to the onboard speedometer, but closer to 50mph according to my GPS speedometer, in stock form with a 200lb rider.
The Solar E-Clipse has integrated regenerative brake levers built into the brake levers, which is always a welcomed feature - not so much for recharging the battery, but more so for saving unneeded wear and tear on the brake pads and rotors.
If you've been looking at the Sur Ron Ultra Bee you may notice a resemblance in this Ebike, however, the internals are significantly different.
This Electric motorcycle comes with a key fob, push button start, a 10 amp charger, KKE Factory suspension, and an IP67 water resistance rating. The max user weight is 330 lbs. It has a headlight and turn signals, and will become road legal in the USA and Europe.
As of the time I'm writing this description the Solar E-Clipse is still the Ebike you can't buy... even if you wanted to.

I boosted the top speed on this bike ruclips.net/video/BrB3ZXq9fM0/видео.html
With the video being shown the rider seems a bit too open and naked to the traffic around him
2023 is gonna be Epic. Lots of competition in the E-Bike world.
"Right from the beach onto the highway"!!! Sick!!! Livin the dream, love this bike 👍🏻
Surron is taking a real beating from the competition lately. Just a little over a month ago I was about to pull the trigger and just buy one knowing that i would prob have to spend about as much in upgrades for it to be what I wanted. Luckily I snapped out of it and came to my senses. I couldn’t justify spending that much money upgrading it and knew that I wouldn’t be happy with just a stock one. After seeing this bike and the new Talaria, that decision not only saved me a lot of money but also a serious case of buyers remorse. Thanks for the great review and looking forward to your review of the new Talaria Sting next !
Sting R MX4 video coming soon, I rode it yesterday and filmed, editing now. It's pretty sweet, but has some downsides too
@Adan M talaria is only couple year old company so they are also new I also was about to buy the talaria but this looks sick I'm glad I waited I think I'm gonna get this is instead of talaria
Which one do you like better between tal or sol help meale decision
For me I ride off road in the forest, top speed is not a problem. I need durability and good suspension. This bike is worse in the forest with no motor protection and a fan under the seat that will get very wet and dirty. So even if it has better suspension I dont want it. Also it is easy to upgrade the Surron.
On road it is a different story but I think this bike is ugly.
This is a Denzel
This video along with the other one you made was what made get the solar eclipse at the end of the day. I had a few problems with the brakes when it first got to me, but the support team was nice enough to make an appointment with me to check it out since it was a problem they haven't seen before. It's been so much fun riding since i've got it fixed and I can't wait to learn a wheelie xD
Do you still have the bike?
I can honestly say after watching this...this ebike is SICK, totally AWESOME
That is definitely the bike to buy nowadays. I hope they sell a bunch, get better bulk purchases, and drop the price tag a thou or so. I'd grab one in a second.
man how cool is this. i would much rather have this than a surron. the solar is simplistic but has all the features you need.
This thing is amazing. What's even more mindblowing is that it costs less than a good e-mtb
lol I thought it was more expensive 6k seems like alot
🇬🇧Give it a couple of weeks and all the ebike community will be raving about this bike I think it looks brilliant as well as being 72 volt it's cheap out of the box compared to a surRon upgraded so I think it will sell very well! 💯Great Video!👌
🤘😎🤘
Thanks for entwining you’re 6’5! I’m 6’7 myself and one of my concerns was the bike feeling good to ride because of my size, but you seem pretty comfortable on it in the video.
Can't help myself but loving this e-motorcycle! 😍 Few little upgrades here and there and it's perfect.
To bad they are 6k 😢 I was gonna get one thought they would be more affordable
@@Ytshorts-q1o yeah i think all e bikes are so over priced....i had to settle with a e scooter, but still does 45-50mph :D
For fast e-motorcycles you need to pay a lot. But I think it's worth it as I love the instant torque and stealthy sound.
that push to start is fire! love the screen.
I learned you can also start it by double tapping the key fob ⚡️ button
on my buying list, getting this as soon as I am paid
Sweeeet
Nice bike...Think I'd install some kind of pedal kit, just to be able to pretend it's legit...
Certainly is a possibility, I’d never wanna mess up the riding position, maybe if I run into problems with not having pedals I’d consider it
how
can i install pedal kit to e bike like this one
@@suleymanates1127 You would need fabrication skills..I can do it, but most people could not..Just the way it is...Doesn't even matter if they work, they are there for appearances, cop candy...
@@realeyesrealizereallies6828 thanks
Is that how you get away without having a plate? Seriously curious about how that works?
Just bought one! I’m excited to drive on these county backroads here in Texas and hit the gym on my bike. I’m 6’4 so I’ve been looking for a bike appropriate for my size, and also I love the look of it. It’s cool that you can ride on the street sidewalk or dirt. Unless I’m carrying something, or going out, or driving far this will be how I get around. Thanks for the review! I’ve been following the e bike rabbit hole and it’s led me to suron, solar, and e ride ss pro. I chose this because it’s sleek, slightly bigger, and has better lights and display for the road.
Do you have it registered?
Would be interesting to see this side by side with a Talaria Sting R MX4.
I may do that, I actually just rode and filmed with the talaria sting R mx4 yesterday, will be publishing that very soon
@@JuicedJoyrides my R is in the mail, whenever FedEx decides to grace me with their presence.
@@JuicedJoyrides would definitely be interested in seeing that, I'm trying to decide between these two
buying a bike soon after seeing all the good reviews
Woohoo 🙌 you’re gonna love riding
Epic day!🎉 great video good distance !
🙂
Thanks 🙏 good range for sure
I got the email from Solar just before or after launch, if this e bike but they did it like a surprise and I blindly clicked, thinking it would be a new e scooter. When I saw it was a bike, I said if it’s around £2500 I’ll buy this beauty but I looked and it’s about £5000 maybe a little more. I don’t have that much spare cash but I hope you really enjoy your Solar E Bike! I was thinking about buying a pre owned Suron but as they super illegal, here in London, I don’t want to take the chance.
If you want 50/50 on and off road versatility, your best bet and bang for your buck is the newest Talaria sting or a SurRon. This bike is not designed for off-road. The motor does not have enough protection whatsoever, is located more on the swingarm than central body for less flex and stability, too much exposure which also sits the motor lower in a more dangerous/damageable position, the controller is too exposed on the rear, and the battery is harder to remove needing tools to do so… sitting at a price point that is roughly $1500 more than the competition. It looks cool for what it is, but as much as it kind of looks like a Talaria or SurRon, I wouldn’t put this bike in the same category as them. 🤷♂️
Holy shit you are right by me,. I thought it looked familiar
A legit nice bike, road legal hell yeh
Yessir
Drives by RUclips HQ while making a RUclips video... 2:56
Strong flex.
😂
If they use a better looking swing arm, rear spring, bash guard, and throttle/ grips it would be a competitor to the mantis or talaria. I feel like surron is pretty solid in the mtb genre of ebikes
Light bee is a great platform with tons of aftermarket support and proven track record, love mine
Looks he says 😂 yes because looks cause performance increases or decreases
@@JR113FTW in the review he said it’s pretty solid but that swing arm looks like it doesn’t belong on the bike and seems like they had to use that design because of where the motor is placed. Half the reason you buy a sur ron or talaria is because of how it looks and how the bike fits together, and the Solar Eclipse has a few things they could fix to make the bike look better.
So I now know the origin of the skid mark I see in all the other videos lol
Great demonstration! Thorough. Looks like you had fun
Thats nice, really big battery for that price its a steal
It really is
Damn the Lightbee X cant take a break... first the Talaria sting R, then the new Talaria XXX, and now this bike or the Rawrr Mantis!
Competition brings innovation, that's good news
I definitely got speeder bike from star wars vibes from this thing and where you were riding.
Changing the sprocket might make it more fun
That mad I’d buy one just to get to work and home
Bro driving in GTA V map.
He's taking the OG line up Chilliad. He'll have to Hail Mary it at the end to be in with a chance.
I think the battery and controller is fine with increasing the amperage but it seems the motor is the limiting factor. I have a variant, the vmx08, with the only differences being the display and instead of an eco mode I have cruise control as well as a "thumb throttle" that activates Regen brakes. I suspect you could increase the amperage from 80 to 100 or even 150 almost doubling the power. The controller is a Kelly programmable but it does void the warranty in increasing it.
So the VMX08 is a better Solar E-Clipse?
@@jaimecucalon2804 I'm not sure which is better. They have different displays and controllers and different methods of Regen. I prefer the thumb throttle Regen but some might prefer the brakes utilizing it when touched lightly. Same bike otherwise.
@@williambontrager2349 Thanks!
@@jaimecucalon2804 both are great bikes and you'll like either one.
That bike is looking good, only thing like you mentioned the pegs and kickstand def need to be changed... right on bro 🤙🏼
And a power boost
@@JuicedJoyrides I heard you can tune this bike with their android app and also unlock it for more speed...

I remeber this bike from 2017 in Canada from a guy name Alex G. I forgot the company name but this bike was called the carbon fiber there is several versions available Glad to see they finally making a break thru in the U.S.
Denzel
@@DGelectrock is the denzel bike the same as this one? if so, isnt that kinda sketchy? Seems like solar is just selling a rebadged Denzel bike thats old
@@saberterminal871 not sure what you mean. Denzel is still making Samurai
This thing is awesome, I’m saving up to get me one someday
Now I gotta soul search... Talaria Sting R MX4 Or Solar E-Clipse.... So hard to make the final move.
Hey juiced where you were riding at the beginning of the video, I live there.
My understanding is this bike is engineered for street and light off road only. It won't tolerate jumps or severe trail riding. I believe there's a disclaimer/warning on this in the owners manual. If you ride as intended the bike could be great, if you don't the bike will be junk in short order.
😆 I didn't know that, if definitely doesn't feel like it's made to be landing those jumps I did, it does feel nice on the street
So glad you rode the dirt bike off-road...
It does alright on trails but doesn’t like getting air
“This is called the Solar E-Clipse, Have you heard of the surron?”
“Yea my boy wants one”

Looks sick, let's see the wheelie update!
Coming soon. Here’s a little teaser for you, and my last ride
I got into the app and increased the power and top speed, then I let a stranger borrow it and he crashed it. It’s all on film.
@@JuicedJoyrides damn but did u do a wheelie?
Starting now im working 2 jobs to get 10k so i can buy this. I'm tired of busing and gas is not it
How much for the bike? Looks like a good way to commute to work
That bike is really NICE!!
Heck yeah! Loving it!
In the U.K. it has to be off road only - unless it has a licence plate (we can’t take motorbikes on the road without one unfortunately)..
That’s a sick bike bro. Just a question, do you need a license of some kind to drive it or no?
Only if you plan on riding on public roads. in which case you can easily register the Solar E-Clipse with the DMV and ride legally!
Awesome 🎉😊
🤙⚡️
competition is good. I'm glad the surron is getting so much of it. We can finally get cheaper, higher quality ebikes
moddified surron is like 12-14kw as this is only 8k and u can get a base surron for prob less than $3K used and upgrade it for less than $3k more for 50-60% more power though
just respect others around n it shouldn't be a problem
This
bro how did u get it this fast bruh i legit just saw the release trailer

@@GBR080R and the wife/girlfriend.
there's a chinese bike on the market that looks identical to this one, and also has an all carbon fiber construction called the Denzel Samurai. My fear is that this Solar e-clipse bike is just a rebadged version of that cheaper Chinese one. the chinese one even has the same specs, the same engine start stop button. literally identical other than the headlight. kinda scary.
pros and cons with the motor being part of the rear swingarm. Positive chain tension, regardless of suspension travel….but the motor is more exposed, and looks a bit out of place. Heavier means less responsive on the rear suspension…yet motor IS tucked close to the pivot point, so maybe not too bad. 6 grand is still too much for a small sized electric bike. I’ll stick to making my own e bikes from scatch. It’s satisfying making your own bike, and no one has one like it.
True, the price is a big ask kinda, I’ve been loving it. It’s really grown on me for street riding. Ultimately I think I’ll convert this to belt drive and street tires, maybe even plates, we’ll see haha
@@JuicedJoyrides belt drive would be epic, get rid of the whirring chain noise. 👍
Pegs forward of the motor and motor as unsprung weight will prevent this from ever being a major surron competitor
Bullpups your E-bike
I'd buy that
The logical extension is when there will be recharging stations that will provide a full charge in under 10 minutes.
for the reflective screen a matt screen protector cut to size would help not perfect but lot better
Wow, regeneration even, nice 😊
Very cool ! I really want one but I'm just a poor boy 👍

2:55 bro pass youtube lobby
With all these rides you got you must have a huge room
You have to do something about that floating brake cable. That's screaming to get yanked on something
I think you swap the motor with the Sur Ron, they are pretty much the same. KO moto has 2 replacement motors, but they are 60v not 72v. Both have a higher top speed.
OMG! First I thought the unprotected fan was a joke. But it's meant to be there! 😲😱
It's a rebranded Denzel samurai they've been out for years just never did well with sales... definitely a better road bike than a surron but not a good off road bike, you void your warranty if you jump it or do "extreme riding" also motor is vulnerable for off roading. Oh also it comes tuned down you can turn up the power in the app and should go like 65mph
Nice, never heard of that bike, i’m gonna play with the app this week and turn up the power. I did notice that the motor sits a little bit low for off-roading and doesn’t appear to be protected.
@@JuicedJoyrides just spoke with solar and it is in fact the same bike however they made alot of awesome changes first like folding pegs, bigger battery and removable, better suspension, better brakes, and a new controller. I guess the original never really made it to production.
@@MotoAlias Awesome. Thank you for that information.
@@JuicedJoyridesthe original was produced just not well known. I have one that's a few years old. Definitely some slight changes in the display, controller, peg style, etc. I'm seeing more and more of them this year under various names.

Gr8 Video man! The only down side of this bike is I understand the battery is not quick release like the competition which isn't a deal breaker if you have the luxury of being able to charge the bike in a garage. However the more of these bikes the better.

Surron is still the king, the weight and customizability is far passed the comp.
If you’re not going to upgrade sure, but let’s be honest… long term, upgrades is where it’s at
I agree, this seems like a good option for a street legal e moto, looking forward to diving into power upgrades
Surrons whole point is they want you to buy basic and then spend 10 extra to get 10mph more, this comes 10mph from stock
@@bn1401 huh ? bruh... u can get a used surron for like prob less than $3k and make it a 72v setup for like... another $3k more for 12-14KW power... this bike costs $6,000 and only 8KW power.... yourstatment doesn't make sense lol
@@Jryoko exactly, surron is not for people who just buy and ride, surron is for the majority that buy, ride and want to continue making modifications for their liking. It’s the most customizable and personal bike I’ve had

If only I wasnt poor I would def get one. would be a huge upgrade from my 2016 rad rover.
I'd have to buy a plate and insurance here. Which is super cheap, motorcycle insurance is 75 a year for just liability and a plate is $16 a year. But I'd have to pay 6% tax to the DMV.
