Hard for me to do the back exercises well as I am not that flexible. I am 68 years old now with arthritis in my hips and lower back.

Shoot! Just do your best and even with limited range you can still get the benefit! What exercise did you have the most difficulty with?

Hello Doctor Michael! I've tried your exercises and I've gotten a lot better... Now i just have some achiness in my lower back. Can you give me a suggestion on how to get rid of this pain too?? I've been dealing with this whole injury for the past 8 months. So, it would be great if you could give me some advice!

Nice and thanks for sharing! Achiness can come and go but my favorite ways to improve this would be mobility exercises. Look at my back stiffness playlist and try this one: ruclips.net/video/2PCPCQggPbA/видео.html It can be great for stiffness from nerve pain! Hope this helps and report back!

You can but you need to be careful. Too much too soon can really aggravate things but doing nothing is almost never the answer. You need to find a physio you trust and go from there!

Howdy. I do not have a history of neck injury. I am 51, healthy and fit. I was cleaning my wood boiler 4 days ago and it requires stooping down on the ground and putting one hand upward as I pull downwards with the other hand, all while kneeling on my knees and turning my head to look upwards and downwards continously.
The next morning I felt a medium range discomfort in my left shoulder and neck. Here it is 4 days later with nearly the same discomfort. It is good at night until I've been laying down for more than 7 hours, then after I rise it worsens over a couple of hours of standing to do light household work.
It gets so stiff where I can't look downwards more than 50% of usual motion, and 100% upward too, left, and right. When I do neck traction for 15 to 20 minutes with a towel, hanging upside down, or laying on my back level, it gets much better. Also dead hanging makes it better too. Then it returns. I have to repeat this throughout the day.
It hurts in the middle of my neck, at the shoulder level, and sometimes across my left shoulder and upper arm, to look all the way down or up, and to look left, to stand for more than 45 minutes, etc.
This must be a pinched nerve, correct? Since it retreats when I do the traction. Thank you!

hi! That's hard to say but it sounds like it's more muscular. Typically my patients will reports unrelenting discomfort and it actually increases at night with numbness and tingling into the arm. Good news for you, it doesn't sound like that is your story. Seems more muscular and try some gentle stretches and heat ;)
