Alcohol is such a dangerous drug. It amazes me that it's legal. Zero medical benefits.

Idk why there’s a distinction for DUI/manslaughter and it’s not just murder.

I believe it has to do with intent. It would be hard or near impossible to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was his "intent" to kill 8 people by drinking and driving, even though it was his intent to drink in excess and then get behind the wheel of a 2-ton rolling death machine.
On the other hand, there is something called the "felony murder rule" which is when a death that occurs during the commission of a felony is charged as a murder under the rule. Some states only consider DUI charges as misdemeanors, so a death during the commission of a misdemeanor probably wouldn't quailfy to be tried as a murder under the felony murder rule. I'm not a lawyer though, so I'm just speculating.
I just wish that the penalties were higher for drunk driving in general. There isn't enough incentive for repeat offenders to get professional help for their problem, and it puts innocent lives in serious danger.

We had a great judge in Citrus Co. who had a criminals car cut in two in order to keep a repeat offender off the streets. They disbarred him saying it was to extreme. Why do we cater to criminals? $$$$$

I'm concerned about the bus operating without seat belts. Responsibility rests with the bus owner, who must be held accountable for their absence, regardless of passenger count. Hence, the investigation should prioritize examining the bus owner's actions. Had seat belts been in place, injuries might have occurred, but fatalities could have been prevented.

@bronxtaskforce01 The reason there isn't usually any on a bus is because if it goes into a river. There will be more people killed! Look up the Bus accident in France. That is just beyond weird and three people got killed it went off a bridge.

@whatmyohmy yea I hear ya but we hear way more busses in accidents than runnin in a river ya know...I remember them telling us in school that it was bc of the belt part being used as a weapon like directly or indirectly .. still it sounds crazy to tell kids you have to wear one its the law -except on the way to school lol

I think it is in poor taste that news reporters, in their desperation for a story, go around and bother others who did not commit the crime. I would be so upset to have my peace disturbed over something I did not do.

it's called "how do you feel" journalism and it's very amateurish. Some reporters will even stick a microphone in the bereaved's face and ask "how do you feel".

If it hit the front wheel and damaged the steering. It could as easily be a bent fender obstructing the wheel.

Miss Ashley Why would you go to the drunk driver neighbors? Sometimes there is a little bit of over stepping lines. Remember a job doesn't last forever. But your self respect does! No need to bother any of those people when the person's already in jail.

DEADLY CRASH KILLED 8 MIGRANTS IN OCALA, FLORIDA
    5-15-24
Destiny has its little surprises. Now the families of the deceased will have to beg for money to bring their dead back home. Their dream for a better life went up in smoke in a flash, and so it is the dark side of the once so famous worldwide American dream.
That tragedy also affected the businesses of all the licor stores Bryan Howard visited to buy his booze to keep him semi-funtional for his daily life. By the same token, the taxpayers will be slammed with higher prices in their essencial necesities to forcefully pay for the encarceration of a penniless inmate.
If one ever thought the fifties would last forever, days when the American dream seemed to be true, that was just a pipe dream. FSLN

They are not illegals looking to make money they are LEGAL workers who have picked and planted crops for us to eat for many years. The money helps their families back home. What are you talking about the American Dream for? How about sympathy for them and their families!
