    Two best back exercises; Weighted Pullup variations and Seal Row Variations.

    I don’t think I’ve seen anyone do rows laying flat on their back with a lat pull-down or weight stack pulling horizontally. Kind of the opposite of a seal row
    Seen what is called a supine Lat pull-down which is similar to what I describe but the line of pull is more horizontal or diagonal .
    Wonder how it would feel

    Hey Phil, I really like how you bring back such a great movement from the graveyard.
    I wonder if you could make a video/suggest more lower back friendly row variations, other than those you already talked about in previous vids?

    Exceedingly based video bossman. Truly the most underrated back exercise imo. Every gym should have a seal row setup. Unfortunately i need to grift around the entire gym to find all the items to build this mf every damn time. And if any one of those storied items are in use you're just out of luck. It's a damn shame.

    Would you consider the chest supported row machine the same thing? About a 45 degree angle with a landmine anchored bar to where your feet are. Love to see the channel back up and running, keep up the good work.

    • @redcat608

      It is not the same! The dynamics of the lift are entirely different: there is less stabilize muscles in a machine.

      Too many stabilizing muscles in those. Seal row almost exclusively separates back from the rest of the core muscles and legs. Plus it’s extra safe for lower back and you can go really heavy with it.

    If you care about increasing your deadlift should you prioritize bent over row variations over their seal row counterparts? Or do you think seal rows can be beneficial on lower back recovery which allows you to deadlift more and then you can just make sure you do direct lower back and core work and add exercises like good mornings, hyper extensions, heavy ab work, etc so your bracing is still strong?

    • @PG.Coaching
      @PG.Coaching  5 лет назад

      Really depends bro, but the lift can be used for a wide multitude of different reasons, see what works for you and experiment!

    • @asdf1234_.
      @asdf1234_. 5 лет назад

      @@PG.Coaching he says that's why he prefers pull ups and in silverback you do pull ups twice per week but rows only once per week. But let's say somebody wanted to modify this for higher row frequency what do you think about higher rep bent over rows on the light days and if you want extra rowing volume on the heavy day and/or volume day you can do seal Row variations and modify the program overall so the total volume and periodization makes sense

    • @HolidayFortnight
      @HolidayFortnight 4 года назад

      There’s more specific ways to work the erectors. I’d rather do supported rows and pull ups to work the rest of my back and save my lumbar for heavy squatting and deadlifting. That includes variations like pause deadlifts and deficit stiff leg deadlifts which will really challenge isometric erector strength in a way that has direct carry over to squats and deadlifts. The lower back tends to not enjoy frequency as much as other parts of the body.

    I have tried the barbell seal row.but I find that because the bench we have is so high, I can't reach the bar below. I have propped the weight up on 1x pair of 20kg plate but still cant reach. Are there any other practical alternatives to raise the bar to me?
