Hey Adam, thank you for all of the great content. As a newbie to the mini crawler world I have learned a ton from watching your videos. I wanted to reach out and tell you thank you!! Jason
If you put some grease in the u-joints on your driveshafts that might take care of that creak. I had the same issue and it drove me nuts. Nice video, it's probably an unpopular opinion but I'm not a huge fan of this look for rigs. I'm not a huge scale person but I like it a bit better when they look like cars. Can't argue with the performance though. Nice job 👍
I will try the grease, that creaking makes me crazy! I am right there with you about the looks. I enjoy them more with bodies and a somewhat scale appearance. I will probably do a spare parts build and resurrect the Capra with the cage on it after this for that exact reason.
As a weldor/artist and a reformed mountain bike junky from the 80's.....I do love me some Titanium!!! I'm sticking with 1/24th, but boy you make it tough to keep the limited funds in the wallet!!! LOL!!!
Oh that’s a bummer, I like the looks of that chassis looks super cool for sure. Just got my pro line pro X tires they are awesome well we’ll catch you on the next one
This is why I flip-flop back and forth, wondering whether it's better to just buy parts and build rather than spend money on an RTR that I'm just going to replace nearly everything on. Especially if I save money making my own chassis/frame rails, links, body, etc. Granted, having an RTR gets you something to play with and upgrading one bit at a time might be better for some budgets and definitely the way to go. But seems at the end of the day, you might only have an ESC and an RX/TX left of anything that came in a box RTR! LOL! Might make a good video to compare the cost math including wasted/non used original RTR parts, time dissembling/reassembling each time you get a single new part to add, extra cost of shipping when ordering a single or couple parts once a month or two versus buying all at once from a couple sources and saving an shipping one or two packages. Lots to consider for sure.
So true. I like the iterative process of upgrading a stock rig. It's fun to see incremental progress. But it is far more economical to do a scratch build. The benefit of overhauling an RTR is that you can rebuild a stock one from takeoff parts and sell it afterwards!
I just checked out your channel. You're doing good, sport. Take notes about camera angles and framing here from Adam. As well as other good guys like 2FM RC, The Shop Mini RC, etc. Some other suggestion, if I may: -Shoot in landscape so it fills the YT screen. -Practice and be mindful of moving the camera slower. It will keep things in focus better when you move slow. Pausing on the part you are talking about lets the viewer focus on seeing what you're talking about. Also, the jerky camera moves always make folk a bit sea-sick.... 🤢😁 . -Try and shoot using sunlight and/or several daylight light bulbs. This will make things 'pop' more, help the camera focus, and cut down on bad shadows. Three light sources are usually good. One just behind and higher up. And two on either side of your camera, about 45 deg. between the camera and the object, at level with the object or a bit higher. (This can very so just do a bunch of test videos just moving the lights around to get it looking good. Again, reference others videos you watch) -Widen out your shots. Wider lens or zoom out or move back further. Helps the shot feel less jittery and often looks clearer due to getting less pixelated/grainy. Also helps show size/scale/context better. -A tripod/stand for the camera would be good to keep shots rock solid. Buy a cheap one, build one or tape your cam to a floor lamp. Whatever is within budget. -Think about what you want to focus talking about in the video and write notes. Doesn't have to be word for word as that can make you sound like your reading. Just key words so you remember what you want to say. Write them in order you want to talk about them so you don't miss anything. Add points to remind yourself where you should pause to focus on the part or scene you want to highlight. And use that point to also take a couple good breaths and remind yourself to take your time. There's no rush. It's easier to shoot little segments and edit them into one video as well, if you have the knowledge to do editing. One long scene like you're doing is hard, but easier with notes to look at and pausing to breath! 😁 -Maybe ask your favourite tubers for pointers on how they shoot and produce their video via DM or Email. Folks are busy with life, so don't be disappointed if you don't get much. But hopefully they'll have some insight into what they've found works. Maybe they'll even send you some pic's of they're behind the scenes set-up or do a video about it on their channel! Best wishes for you Sonic! Wing Nut Bert *** Hope you don't mind Adam. If you want the long post removed, I'm happy to delete. 😁👍
@@wingnutbert9685 thanks for feedback I definitely needed that I am definitely going to try to apply this to future vids and taking a screenshot so I remember
@@SONNIC_BOOM_RC Your very welcome! Good luck with future vid's and enjoy doing them before worrying about making money from them. Fun hobbies can become dreaded jobs if you take them there.
Adam... I just got one of these. Do you have this video in normal speed? I'm doing something like this for the first time and was pointed to you and this video. Great vid by the way.
@@CapeCrawlers thanks for the response. By chance do you know where the small plates attach to? My box came with the two large rails and 4 small. In your video the small rails attached at the bottom of the two large. That would account for 2 large and 2 small so I have no clue where the two others go. All other pieces are accounted for
Thanks for the UTB18 videos! Convinced me to get into the hobby and started there a few weeks ago. Having issues with the Furitek and Flysky GT5 upgrades this week. Signal seems to keep dropping (especially to the steering servo). Did you have any issues or tips regarding setup?
Based on your video, I spent my life and got an FMS FCX 24 crawler along with some upgrades. Put the wheels beadlock wheels and weights (didn't do a good job so that was on me) and then drove it. I realised seeing your videos have spoiled me for quality. I actually liked this rig but something was missing. I was wondering, this is my first crawler so what gives! Then I realised that I see your videos regularly. LOL ha ha ha. I am so spoiled for quality and famished for choice!ha ha :D Great video. I wonder what will happen if you added softer compound tires on this one. I think this will also ignore gravity after that upgrade.
I hope you love that FCX24. It's such a fun rig with huge potential! I have to get the inserts sorted out on this thing. I may try some custom foam as I can't seem to find the right compound right now. I think you're right though, it will be unstoppable with the right tire combo.
@@CapeCrawlers you bet! I've the weights and i am very likely doing that droop setup of yours since the springs on this make the wagon tip over. Already with just weighted tires i can see a decent difference. Yes foams might help. A four wheel low slung crawler is ❤️🔥
Right?! They are very close in size. I am definitely lucky to have that crawling spot so close. Only downside is that it's state owned property and they do not like people on it. I have to be very sneaky when I go in there (shhhh)
I honestly would swap out the servos for the newer reefs 100 made for trucks this size I love the raw 500 but I mainly run it in my RYFT lol super overkill in the ubt18 the power draw will be less but still more than enough power and torque to turn the trenchers. Hopefully this helps. Killer build BTW 💪🔥
Hey just came across your channel and love the things you do! Could you do a budget series where you only have $250 or so to buy mods and the car(ax24 or scx/4?) thx
Hey Adam, can I ask you a question? I don't own a crawler yet but there is a wrangler scx24 for sale near me for £80 (New deadbolt is £125 and Wrangler is £135) but it has the v1 electronics. What do you think? Is there much difference between V1 and V2? I honestly don't know what to do whether I should get this and save money or pay the extra and get a new one with v2.
The V2 setup is much smoother to drive. BUT the V1 has options for more expansive upgrades down the road like a Furitek system, which is not compatible with the V2.
It's a tough call between the warthog and the ugly af comp build. I think I would lean more towards the comp build simply because you have more options for customization and tuning with that chassis setup. Multiple motor options, shock placements, body choices, etc.
The SCX24 or the TRX4M. Both are great. The Axial has deeper aftermarket support and more customization options but the Traxxas is more capable and more scale looking out of the box.
I love your channel and style buddy, you are motivation to be a better channel and you have awesome ideas and skills one day I'd hope to get to meet you and possibly collaborate our channels when mine gets monetized 👍

There's almost literally nothing left of the utb18. You should assemble all of the parts you took off and have the original utb18 back.
I am seriously considering doing exactly that
Do you use a BEC with this dual servo setup ? if so, which one ?
I do not. That's something I need to learn more about and the UTB18 absolutely needs one
