I don't own a rock crawler but I want to try it, trying to decide between the scx24 deadbolt, the new AX24 or the TRX4M. Difficult to decide but I'm leaning towards the SCX for the upgradability. Keep up the good work, its great to see that you can share your hobby with your son.

Yeah! Definitely get a another TRX4M, I would keep it brushes and give the Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster mini 66T a try along with the crawler gears! I have this set up and really like it.
Man, that thing is sooo sick! I would love to do something like that, but can’t bear to dismantle my only “scaler”… Maybe I’ll have to get a second one! I say get another for a scaler! Well done!

Great video, all you need now is rear wheel steer and this thing is going to take over, also yes another TRX4M bronco, and I think you should buy a SCX24 deadbolt and do a extreme cheap build and compare it to your high end deadbolt

Thank you! I think the SCX24 C10 or deadbolt is the most capable. The SCX24 has such immense aftermarket support and it responds so well to mods. Those give it the edge I feel.

I'm using the Injora servo and mount here. They sell the entire kit for ~$50 and it works great. Not super fast like some other high performance servos, but its strong and budget friendly.

I love my skill rigs but I don't really have any big expectations from them unlike performance they just look real cool if I need something that really performs I like my Rock bouncer chassis or a nice set of low CG frame rails with minimum on it

And do you have any recommendations for shocks on it that would add more articulation and I don’t have to change stuff on the shocks because I tried the shocks that you have on right now and they did not go on and I don’t know how to change stuff on shocks. Thank you! Wheels and tires are Injora brass beadlock wheels and Injora 64mm rock terrain tires. If you want more articulation without changing anything else, check out the flex extensions from Adaptiv3 Designs (Etsy or Ebay). They are inexpensive, easy to install, and make a big difference.
Pretty cool option for the Trx4m. The servo sticking up in the air hurts my feelings! It's just weird looking! Looks like your setup could benefit from rubber bands or something on the shocks to help control that torque twist when it loads up! Nice work Adam.

Thank you Guillermo! I think Furitek ships to Spain, but I am not entire sure. I know they ship globally just not sure of which countries. I can do a video on the shock setup of these. I'll try to put something together soon.
Crawler gears. Crawl gears are suuuuupper slow unless you got with a motor upgrade, then they’re good. Stock gears felt too jumpy for me. But you can also underdrive/overdrive the gears now with injoras parts
For me most of the fun is in the process of transforming a stock rig into something unique and wildly different from the start. I almost feel like the Cayman is cheating because it gives you such a capable platform already!
I feel like its the SCX24. The portal axles in the cr18p and fcx24 still have quite a bit of slack in the gears. The trx4m seems to strip gears easier than the worm gear/screw combo in the scx24.
@@CapeCrawlers I was under the impression that the scx24 axles sucked because you can't tighten the nuts down all the way without causing them to bind? I don't have a scx24 only a fcx24 so I haven't used them in person.
For the brushless system I am okay spending the 130-140 on the speed controller and motor… but what are my options for a receiver and remote on a budget? Is the furitek avatar worth the 120+ dollars? Or is there a good budget option?
No I don't think so, but I would need to check the rules again. So if that is the case it's more for just fun and shock value, and it has fun in spades.
For my trx4m? I really want this chassis! I know I loose my bronco body 😢 but I do like the look of this. Reminds me of my Clodzilla chassis a little bit for my old clodbuster!
If modifying to this extent. Save the initial $150 for even buying a stock trx4m because it looks to be that’s $150 battery tray lol. Correct me if I’m wrong. 😂

The grasshopper is great in my mind because it retains the factory appearance but gives you so much more versatility for shock mounting.

Between trx4m, fcx24, cr18 and scx24 who has the best axles. Most robust, least slop.

No, I think the skid is too wide. The Scythe chassis will work for the SCX24 and it's very similar.
