#7. I get what you are saying about luxury brands, but it makes sense from a business perspective because here’s the goddamn ugly truth. Koreans, young and old, are unhealthily obsessed with luxury goods, optics of wealth, and keeping up with the Joneses. I believe that Koreans are the #1 purchasers of luxury goods in the world. My mom told me that there used to be a Korean phrase to describe women who ate ramen and other cheap food in order to afford a luxury handbag or to drink coffee at cafes (that used to be a mark of status). I always get a little stressed when packing for trips to Korea because I know that my relatives will judge me based on what I’m wearing and what handbag I carry. This last Christmas, my cousin was bragging about how he bought his wife Chanel this and Saint Laurent that. I internally rolled my eyes. While my mom, sister, and I are immune to this obsession, my dad isn’t. He only buys Mercedes Benz cars even though my mom doesn’t like them (although last year, he bought a Genesis because several of his friends bought one). My dad bought a ridiculously expensive rice cooker while shopping with friends because they bought one (my mom tells me that it’s been sitting in the garage, never used, for the past year).
Actually I saw a video explaining that obsession. This woman was explaining how they base their success in the perception others have of them so unless you live as the rest you are percived as less successfull. In the case of millenials and younger generations that no longer can afford housing in the mayority of cases they think there is no reason to private themselves of luxury in the present (even if that means max their credit cards) instead of save for get it in the future because then thay items could, maybe, againg be out of their reach. So the circle perpetuates, if someone of your office has a luxury bag it is expected everyone to be abble to afford one, even if it was a present. And with idols it is the same, if a 13 years old can afford to have a full wardrobe of Prada (even if it is sponsored) then all 13 years old should be abble to have luxury items or they are being left behind. The famous "spine breakers" were a super expensive brand of jackets all teens should have because if not it means your family was not at the level of the rest of families, so parents buy to their children even if they had to "break their spne" working to afford one of it.
Also the number one global purchasers of plastic surgery. I read somewhere that sometimes people take photos of idols (in full make-up) and ask for the look. The immoral surgeons don't tell them to stop being silly. Meanwhile, none of this seems to bring peace of mind and happiness.
@@AbbyA-z6j i always laugh when I see fans brag that their fave idols never had surgery - I would bet that 99% of female kpop idols have at least had 쌍꺼풀 수술 (double eyelid surgery) - the young woman in AKMU doesn’t seem to have had the surgery. Many male idols have had the surgery also, but to a lesser extent. My mom offered several times to pay for my sister and I to get the surgery, but we both declined.
@@belaytriks Yup, it’s all about perception. My parents recently moved from a mostly white neighborhood into one with more Koreans. My mom complained that now she felt pressured to wear makeup and nicer outfits when just walking around the neighborhood or shopping locally in case she runs into other Koreans because she knows that if she doesn’t, the other Korean women will talk about her.
@@hestergnu6627 😆 The "we both declined" suggests such conversations are normal in South Korea. If my mum ever said this to me I would be so crushed that I would need therapy. 2. With some groups, with the styling you cannot tell how old the idol is bc most of the time the stylists and makeup etc will make the idol appear older than they might actually are. However, first time seeing that gg maknae and she looks like a child even tho she has similar styling as other gg idols. Now that I'm older, I dislike the idea of really young idols in kpop, it's just gross to just think about the stan adults who think stanning a literal child is fine. Like sure, I didn't think like this when NCT Dream debuted and Jisung was only 14 back then, but I myself was closer to their ages just slightly (17-18) so I didn't think it would be weird at all. Now that I'm closer to 30 than 20, I just feel uncomfortable with having way too many under age idols nowadays and like I refuse to check out new idols bc of their ages. There should be an age limit in kpop and knetz should stop shaming idols being old like i honestly dont understand knetzs at all. (Also even tho I'm nctzen, I still haven't been able to check out the newest unit bc they are so young and the maknae is literally 9-10 years younger than me and idk)
7. This is soo true. Not to mention these "brand ambassador" idols, young & old, know nothing about fashion, or even the campaign they are attending. I remember fashion week interviewers asking Jisoo about some Dior related collection she was attending, and she totally dodged it. SOO embarassing. Makes me think how many ACTUAL korean fashion influencers, models are there who know FASHION and are deprived of the opportunity of becoming brand endorsers just because they were overshadowed by their own people. Its a pity, really, how idol marketing has reached this level of ignorance.
What are you saying.......even before kpop idols, pop singers are the global ambassador of luxury bands. Even Chinese actress is former brand ambassador of dior. Even indian actress is ambassdor of gucci. So it is nothing new, they make brand ambassador who are actually popular and influential, nothing to do with fashion.
@@vquiz2719 not as common as kpop idols. The other countries choose standard people with some notable work. How can you defend a 14 y/o who just debuted becoming brand ambassadors? lmao
One thing to add about teens modeling adults brands. We rearelly see thins in male idols but for us, women, it perpetuates this idea we can not get old, we should look like as teens in order to be "desirable and successfull". You are punishing older women for ther age and erasing the teen experience for teens and making women above 30 invisible. You do not see that with male idols, they have all kind of styles, clothes and even shappes but females idols the thinner the better, the younger the better, the most perfect the better, the most sultry the look the better... And then they cal 20 years old like if they are "ancient beings" and undesirable, not apt for being idols nor good enough to be followed because they are not young and do not look like children. That is twisted as it can be... It is borderlin... The word that can to be write.

#4: fan protests are so infantilizing towards idols. Like, imagine being a member of a group and having to attend meetings with your whole group to address your fans crying over you not getting some part in a song or more screen time. How embarrassing. None of us know what really goes on behind closed doors and in most cases we should just keep our noses out of it. #5: this obsession with visuals ane looking perfect at all times drives me crazy because it's just so boring. Like, you all end up looking like clones with no individuality. In Japan there is the philosophy of wabi Sabi, or finding beauty in imperfections and impermanence, and I feel like kpop could use a good dose of that. Also don't get me started in how "Y2K" fashion is a scam. As someone who was a preteen/teen in that era, real Y2K was a bizarre dumpster fire and that's why it was fun. Trying to make Y2K aesthetically pleasing defeats the point. #7: I mostly hate the luxury good obsession because of how boring it makes kpop stage outfits. When idols are constrained by brand contracts, we typically end up seeing the same variations on boring looks over and over. If I never saw a plain t-shirt that says Celine on it on a kpop stage again it would be too soon.
1. I understand nmixx not being able to go to coachella. It reminds me of when jisoo performed flower on coachella. 2. I personally have no problem with people stanning 13 year olds. Thats if youre a teenager. But if youre an adult stanning a 13 year old, thats a problem. 3. Theres fans linking bp and skz to mhj?? 4. I feel like idols get embarrassed when they see those protest trucks. 7. Teenagers shouldnt be ambassadors for luxury items. They dont have the money to afford that stuff.
Why stanning a 13 year old is a problem? I stan people for talent... When I am 18, my Queen Ailee is only 9 years old. Her YT Channel show how she growing up from covering on Rihanna', Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Jordin Sparks, Whitney Houston's song.... I won't feel a shame because she got real talent!! I don't understand why there is a problem. ruclips.net/user/shortsWfhtc-hw_xw?si=rlqnq8kXyiG01Kt2 Let see a recent Ad-lib Acapella from Ailee, should I feel embarrass as I stan a 9 yo Girl when I am a Adult?
Despite the hate train in NMIXX in their starting year, they were able to pull off a tour in US. With live vocals AHHAHAH. Also their recent album is well recieved in the west. NMIXX and Straykids have the music to make the crowds go wild especially with their performance. They can sing live and dance so well. Just let NMIXX sing in acapella and the people their gonna be wild HAHAHHA.
As festivals go, Coachella is kind of lame. Good exposure for Kpop groups within the pop niche for sure, but the untapped potential in America are the rock fans that wouldn't be caught d**d at Coachella. There's so many better US festivals out there. The way to make it in America is to tour, tour, tour.
My opinions new people in groups level, encouragement within their groups working together as harmony, together talents, including different ideas music including dancing too
Yeah those protests trucks are not it, if anything I think it can make things more difficult for the idol and not to mention the fans could be way off base and even make things embarrassing for said idol
yeah idk who signed off on that 13 yo debuting.. is it really that hard to debute freshly 18yos?? is it really that hard to protect kids?? it’s so exhausting seeing it over and over again
I think people are forgetting you need to be popular or somewhat relevant. Because if you watched aespas Coachella people were walking off and little to no cheering. I think Coachella worked well for blackpink because they’re already huge both in Korea and US so Coachella supported and funded the stage preparation more. Nmixxx aren’t popular that’s the sad truth they’re not popular in Korea and they’re definitely not popular in the west unless ur into K-pop🤷♀️ they would not be a hit at Coachella, nothing against the girls but in the music industry it matters more how popular you are not how talented you are.
nmixx song is childish? except young, dumb, stupid and gabby doll house, all of their sound are far from childish. if nmixx song is childish, idk what to say about other kpop group.
1. Nmixx definetly could pull of cochella! I don‘t even know most of their songs but it‘s clear that they would rock lol 2. If you are around the same age ok, but if you are over age: heck no! You can still support them but don‘t stan until off age. That‘s also the companys fault which is why I loved it so much when KOL debut and had only over age members because why can‘t that be the f*ing normality! 3. Unpopular opinion but I don‘t stand with MHJ but also who tf stans a company in this day and age, admitly HYBE is one of the shittiest companys out there right now but I still stan svt, txt and bts the most, does not mean I have to like the company at all. (Rant incoming: Two out of those three are also extremely self made and honestly the money from hybe helped svt in mv production and stuff but is holding them back from a wider international fanbase right now just because it wouldn‘t make them as much money in the short term #boycotthybe ) 4. Protest trucks are being used for the dumbest things because you can use them for media attention. It‘s just a tool for haters at this point. And Emails are most likely going to go under the sheer amount of them at this point they are only searching for stuff they saw articles about via word search because what else are they gonna do and then that has to go a long way to get approved for a meeting of some sort and by that time it‘s almost too late. 5. I never understood the visual role but as in korea having the perfect face is a pretty big deal I can see how the role came to be. (Heck you don‘t even have to work in entertainment to have to get plastic surgery for a better paying job) But I wish they abandon that drastic culture 6. Yeah Wake One is definetly more in the public eye related to Kepler. I didn‘t even know they were under a subsidiary. 7. Definetly agree. It‘s one thing to have them wear brands on stage and it‘s another thing to have them directly promote it. Because the pressure is already there also for these Idols themselves but to activly be part of and promote that circle is another thing.
nmixx might have questionable music but stage presence there vocals there and stability there. They have boom ,love me like this, passion fruit ,dash even sonor. They would so amazing that people would be to high on their energy and vocals to play attention to the music.
Actually, in JK of BTS case it was cristal clear how he was stuck in his teen years till their long holyidays before "ON" and the pandemy. After he spend a lot of time alone and by himself he finally seemed more calm and have been abble to catch with his real age.

I don't understand why there is a problem.
ruclips.net/user/shortsWfhtc-hw_xw?si=rlqnq8kXyiG01Kt2 Let see a recent Ad-lib Acapella from Ailee,
should I feel embarrass as I stan a 9 yo Girl when I am a Adult?
My opinions new people in groups level, encouragement within their groups working together as harmony, together talents, including different ideas music including dancing too
Opinion 2 is reasonable to agree with, but remember Korea’s kpop industry was saved by a thirteen year old. I’m not joking.
Who
@suyeesia7770 boa, i think
Opinion 6: Probably becausr they don't know it's a sub company. People know what other companies are under Hybe because... it's Hybe.
thank you for talking about aespas improvements .
I hate their debuting literal child. It’s so wrong. The entertainment industry is no place for minors
can someone tell me who the blonde girl is in 9:17? she’s beautiful
The group is Kep1er but i don't know the member
nmixx song is childish? except young, dumb, stupid and gabby doll house, all of their sound are far from childish. if nmixx song is childish, idk what to say about other kpop group.
1. Nmixx definetly could pull of cochella! I don‘t even know most of their songs but it‘s clear that they would rock lol
(Rant incoming: Two out of those three are also extremely self made and honestly the money from hybe helped svt in mv production and stuff but is holding them back from a wider international fanbase right now just because it wouldn‘t make them as much money in the short term #boycotthybe )
(Heck you don‘t even have to work in entertainment to have to get plastic surgery for a better paying job) But I wish they abandon that drastic culture
8:41 bro how is it, not a problem, try listening to models and how hideous the back side of that industry is!!!!
nmixx might have questionable music but stage presence there vocals there and stability there. They have boom ,love me like this, passion fruit ,dash even sonor. They would so amazing that people would be to high on their energy and vocals to play attention to the music.
Nmixx is amazing, you guys are haters and all their songs will be loved in America.
How is nmixx song childish?
You listen to YDS and call it a day
Actually, in JK of BTS case it was cristal clear how he was stuck in his teen years till their long holyidays before "ON" and the pandemy.
After he spend a lot of time alone and by himself he finally seemed more calm and have been abble to catch with his real age.
Stuck in his teen years? He was 22 during the pandemic, so he was barely OUT of his teen years
5. EXACTLY. Soyeon is not a visual member yet she’s got one of the best stage presence in 4th gen.
Lol NMIXX at coachella😂😂😂....they can pull off if they do some cover songs because their music is trash....they are still surviving because they are from jyp....none of their song is a bop and they are flopping so hard despite being so talented
Haters who don't even get paid 😂😂
At this point honey this is jealousy. Thats not even a valid opinion cuz your arguments are just judgments and nothing is solid and backed with facts or exemples. So honey instead of wasting your time on shit talking about people works, do some research on if your making a good point or not.
Babymonster and nmixx are on the same page , talented but flops🤷
@@ratangarg3821 yeah like, you’re here yapping like you’re going to get paid from doing this 💀
@@Kitty_missss Wow you don't know what flopping is do you?
Ahem. XG
Let's all just stop bringing up the hybe thing because that man is not doing so good in korea 😒
Did you like aespa supernova?
Idk what to say . My expectations were high.
It just too bland for me
Nah
@@badkarma5245 yeah it's kind of simple but it's just a pre release they look like they're having fun
Nope!
I liked it but I kinda expected more from the teaser ( but I like it more than the first time I listened to it)
100% agree
#2 i don't get it, so we shouldn't stan them cause they are young? I personally think debuting minors isn't the problem, but the fans !
That’s crazy💀💀💀
@@Divetiny ??
Fans r exactly why its a problem tho? And the industry itself aint a bed of roses that it seems. Stanning them is another topic tbh, im just replyin to the last part of your comment
@@Rorapudd debuting minors is a problem. Fans aside, the industry is cutthroat. You know how hard they have to be working? Missing school, skipping meals? Definitely not a place for a minor
@@Gojo-ki-poookie Exactly the last part of my comment but in different words
The first comment it is right, they need songs that are good for festival and nmixx don't even have a song that went viral internacional or well know. I love lana del rey, but they no business bringing her to coachella, her songs are not good for a festival. A good group thar would have been great it is itzy instead that have more tradicional songs you just dance to the beat.
#3 Yes Blinks and Stays even Exo-ls were so desperate to link into the Hybe Mhj mess
Assumptions much?
You wish
Kpop hype up coachella to the point u think it s some privileged western award just bcs bp got fans and got relevant in the us doesn’t mean your idol will lesserafim didn’t get sh1t ateez didn’t znd so is aespa so give it up
What do you think happened with ATEEZ and Coachella. Lots of people like their performance more than BP's two performances...
