Hi Helen & Dave. Have been enjoying watching your videos. We stayed at Whitefield Forest a couple of years ago, was just a couple of pitches along from yours, and thought the site was excellent. We had a red squirrel visit our canopy every evening. And the IoW is a lovely place. Hope Helen got her way to visit the Garlic Farm shop 😂 . We were amazed at the variety of goods they sold with garlic in it. Who knew?
Hi Tony, hope you’re well and thanks for watching. As you can tell, like you we really enjoyed this campsite and our stay on the IOW. We had been before about 35 years ago but never with the caravan. We’ve been to Whitefield Forest a few times now, last time in June for two weeks. A lovely site! Bus stops handy too. You can walk to Ryde, St Helens, and Bembridge. The only drawback of this site is the speed of the road outside (50 mph) and the blind bend when exiting the lane. Other than that it’s great!
Hi Roz, thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Whole heartedly agree, in fact, a set of traffic lights at that junction would be the answer. Loved it though, just like you. Stay tuned! Helen & Dave 👍

We are currently at The Old Brick Kilns site in Norfolk (which we have visited many times) and in September we have also booked to visit Whitefield Forest. I must admit I was a little concerned about driving through Portsmouth with the caravan, but you have put my mind at ease. We get the ferry back from Yarmouth to Lymington as we have 5 nights at Centenary camc site in the New Forest, followed by 5 nights at Back of Beyond. It would be too much of a coincidence if you are going to these sights as well. Jayne and Richard
Hi Jayne & Richard, some coincidence are you sure you haven’t hacked our email account? 😂 Don’t worry about the drive through Portsmouth, it’s geared up to take the ferry traffic and vehicles of all sizes. I did the route via google street view first and even visited Portsmouth the day before because I was concerned but I needn’t had bothered. The motorway takes you straight to the centre and it’s only 5 minutes from there. We moved up to Poole in Dorset after IOW and stayed at South Lytchett Manor also a very nice site (incase you want to change your plans 😂). Enjoy your trips and keep living the dream, just off to change our email password 👍 Helen & Dave

We love the IOW and go almost every year, staying at Appuldurcombe Gardens Country Park at Wroxhall, which is just a few miles from Shanklin and Ventnor. We use Red Funnel as they do offers with the Campsites that mean you get a greatly reduced price for the ferry. Our 10 nights at the end of June cost us just under £450 for ferry and pitch. Look forward to seeing your next video of where you went
Hi Mike & Rose, amazing value when you weight it all up. Will investigate the campsite at Wroxhall 👍 We were really pleased with the Isle of Wight and had a great stay. Thanks for watching, Helen & Dave 👍
@@HelenandDave typical autocorrect - it’s at Wroxall and is a lovely open site and you can walk across country to Godshill and Shanklin if you like that sort of walking

Helen and dave if your on the isle of wight you would be standing in my work i built the waiting shelter on the ferry when i was at work the ferry was built on the clyde a few years ago
Hi Cameron, interesting fact 👍😊 I wonder what it cost to build? Can you remember how many years ago that was? Thanks for watching. Helen & Dave
Was in the late 90s only management would know costs think would be a few thousand though bet it wasnt 6 years late like the calmac ferries are just now lol
@@cameronstevenson7138 yeah, wouldn’t have been cheap that’s for sure. Great ferries in the Calmac fleet, must take a while to build 👍
Welcome to my home island if your still here Ventnor Fringe is on for 10 days something for all
Hi Alyson, you live on a wonderful part of the country. We’re not on the Island now but we particularly liked Ventnor but we enjoyed so many other areas too. Thanks for watching. Helen & Dave 👍
Great video, as always, might give IOW a shot next year, might have missed it, but have you reported on how the sportage is towing and performing, I saw the one on the pickup 😢
Hi Colin, thanks for watching and we would have no hesitation on returning, we really enjoyed it. As for the Sportage, I’m yet to get around to making a video on it but hope to at some point. Must say though, it’s a great tow car imho, better than our previous Volvo XC60. Appreciate your support. ATB, Helen & Dave
Hi Helen and Dave 😊.
Well thats been an eye-opener.
Often fancied the Isle but never been brave enough.
This vlog has certainly changed our thoughts 😊.
The crossing, site, food and scenery all looks amazing.
Can you choose your own pitch or are they allocated your pitch looked great.
Looking forward to the next vlog 😀.
Take care as always and stay safe.
Paul and Joanne 👍 ❤️
Hi Paul & Joanne, are you home from your trip away? Gotta tell you the IOW in a caravan was easy, stressless and we were on our campsite within 15 minutes of leaving the ferry and as you will see next week there is plenty to see and do there. Take care, Helen & Dave 👍
@HelenandDave
Hi,
No, we are currently in Barnard Castle. Unfortunately, we have to go home on Saturday.
But it's been a great 3 week tour around 😊.
Looking forward to Incleboro 👍
@@Meggy6571 excellent, safe trip back and have a lovely weekend. 👍
Are you still on the Iow ? We have been many times over the year ,the dairymans daughter is a great pub to eat if you are xx
Hi Edwina, we’ve moved on now but a couple of people have mentioned this pub too. Next time! We had a great stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thanks for watching. Helen & Dave 👍
Desmond he say NO. I think if we went that far south we would hop over the channel. Could then go to see where football went😇
We can’t take Bella abroad, she is allergic to the inoculations so this was the next best thing, good old English grub too. Hope you’re both well. Helen & Dave
@@HelenandDave All well thank you. Hope Helen and you are doing well and Helen is coping. Stay safe.
@@DesmondsDondersCheers 👍
We are going on the 11th 14 nights at the Orchard caravan park
Hi Jon, thanks for watching and we hope you have a wonderful time. Next week we will show you some of the great places we visited. Safe travels, Helen & Dave 👍
@@HelenandDave cheers it's our first big tow from York. Looking forward to it 👍
Hi Dave did you put the spooky voice over when in the hare and Hounds if not did anybody else hear the tour and voice saying get out
Maybe it was Michael Moray coming through but more likely it was Dave messing about with effects in the edit. Yes it was Dave, he’s like a child at times. Hope you enjoyed the vlog and thanks for watching. ATB, Helen & Dave 😊👍
Don't think I've paused one of your videos so much before, lots of info. Never been to the Isle of Wight and never considered it either, think that might change after this. Good tip about booking the ferry, do you know if this applies when booking with CAMC by any chance?
Hi Caz & Squash, hope you’re well. Honestly it’s worth going, I think there may be a discount with CAMC but haven’t checked. It was a lot cheaper than booking direct. Ferry process was really easy and the drive to and from both ends was really easy. Didn’t need to get out of the car but we did just to stretch our legs while we were waiting. Thanks as always, Helen & Dave 👍
Lovely video my cousin lives in freshwater maybe you will visit it sometime ☀️☀️🛳️🛳️
Hi Frances, thank you for watching. Freshwater looks like a fab place to live! Stay tuned 👍 Thanks, Helen & Dave 👍
How much did the ferry crossing cost you?
Hi John, it’s in the video but it was £190 return car, caravan and passengers including dog.
@@HelenandDave wow that’s good was that with caravan club discount?
@@johnp6636 Hi John, we found it cheaper to book the ferry with the caravan site we stayed with. They seem to offer the best discounts. 👍
@@HelenandDave crazy I live on the Island and I have just paid £235 return for a CAR and 3. Red funnel and wight link are ripping Islanders off left right and centre
@johnp6636 that’s crazy, I would have expected you to get the cheapest deals of all.
Daft question do you need passports for IOW?
Not a daft question but the answer is no. We took our passports and driving licences but we’re never asked for any id at all. 👍 Helen & Dave
🏆🏆🏞
Thanks for watching 👍

Hi Mike thanks for getting in touch more than happy to oblige but our next video will be out next Thursday so it will be a belated greeting. Hope that’s OK. Best wishes to you and Alison and we hope she has a great birthday. Bella says Hi to Scarlett. Cheers, Helen & Dave
