- WipEout Omega Collection has got a free PSVR patch, and we've slapped on our PlayStation VR headsets and taken the title for a spin on PS4 Pro. The results are staggering to say the least.

It’s amazing! Easily the best driving game on PS VR and one of my top 10 VR games overall.
Trying it out tonight as I've been working, so glad I picked this up on sale a few weeks ago.played every wipeout game since the ps1 original so having this to play on VR is awesome to say the least.It may even knock superhot vr off my top spot.
Its fantastic....its comfortable to play clear and clean graphically and incredible fun.
Oh wow just binged it for 5hrs straight it's awesome not a hint of motion sickness.
I'm prone to motion-sickness, but this game, with its comfort-settings off, doesn't induce motion-sickness at all, even at breaknecking speeds. Only during replay I have a bit of trouble. And outside the cockpit, I can't handle it at all. Played almost 2 hours straigth, without trouble.
This game in VR is just pure awesomeness!! Sheer quality!! Didn't expect this kind of quality.
I'm concerned about it myself, as I tend to immediately get terrible motion sickness. It's encouraging it didn't bother you.... maybe I can try it.
I agree. It's the ultimate racing experience for psvr. This is really gonna skyrocket the sales of this game. Every psvr owner should own this game.

Me too man, but just leave the settings as they are and you'll experience no motion sickness what so ever. a lot of people turn everything off, there really is no need at all. Its amazing which ever way you play it.
Simon Thurman I don't know if that answer was for me, but as I said, although I'm prone to it, I don't get it with this game, even with all the settings off. A testament to how well this works.

I instantly turned off the blinders. Ive had zero motion sickness after 3 hours of non stop playing

Totally agree with this review. Amazing achievement by the Wipeout Devs and a real treat for PSVR owners. My only criticism is that when you look around the cockpit the pilots arms don't move. It'd be great to see the pilots arms moving the joysticks in the same direction that you move the dualshock. Only a minor gripe as its a fantastic free update and really.breathes life into an older title. Hope they give us more VR updates. Last Of Us VR edition anyone? :)
Some people are missing the point with a view to this game saying it is one of the best psvr games, as I would go further and say this is among the best and coolest games period. The VR element absolutely makes this mind blowing...
Hey people just a heads up, make sure you turn off supersampling if playing on a pro. This caused my version to get stuck on the load screen time and time again until I turned it off. Enjoy! 😀

Its a dream come true for me. I bought ps1 with wipeout and that blew me away. Never thought i would be playing it in vr in my lifetime. You say best vr experience on psvr . I think its the best on any system. Has occulus n vive got anything this good?

From what I heard about it, the reason they said they can’t really do Elite on PSVR is because the resolution wouldn’t be clear enough for the text you’d be reading in game and other issues. It bums me hardcore because every time I play it, I keep thinking how lucky the PC players are for the VR support :’(

Have to agree, instant killer app. Hard to believe how much cleaner it looks than most PSVR games. Up there with Bound and Wayward Sky.

MOA THERMA is something else. I could charge admission fees to my house for this, it's a theme park attraction. So good!
A showcase for the PSVR and proof that with time and effort a lot of older PS3 games (like Skyrim and Wipeout) could be ported quite quickly using old assets.
Just took this badboy out for a spin and I have to say, it's outstanding!
My one criticism thus far is that while I like to play with the pilots head mode for camera tracking it seems to rotate unnoticeably slowly (so much is happening during the race...) that you end up with a camera 15/20 degrees off center from your original viewing position. Holding down Select to reset the view doesn't fix this and so I found myself turning the vr headset off and on again every few races to negate this.
Anybody else having this issue???

Just got VR and this was first purchase, I remember playing this at a buddies computer store back in the 90’s as my first multiplayer experience. Loved it then and even more in VR!
Had to look up reviews of this after a random purchase earlier today. Turned it on right before I had planned going to bed, but the game FLOORED me, and I kept playing for over an hour with a huge grin on my face. The sense of speed and smooth driving is amazing, and although the option for locking the camera to the driver feels somewhat insane, the other cameras feel super smooth, and the option for hiding my peripheral vision was not needed at all. I cannot wait to show other people this, this just blew me away. And the sound effects! And music! Oh my god. I had such a great first hour with this, and it's still downloading :D Can't wait to see the rest.
Ya take off those blinders. You're missing out so much on the environment.

great update but found one bug. if you have super sampling turned on for you ps4 pro. turn it off or the game will crash or give you a blank loading screen

This is one of the best vr games i have played on the headset easly sits along with resi 7 and dirt rally, impressive stuff. It does make me think the headset has more potential then i thought after seeing how good this looks.
Dirty Rally had me experiencing motion sickness within seconds so I was apprehensive about playing this in VR but it's so far a flawless experience. Even with the camera fixed to pilot setting.
Dreamskaype it odd for me as i dont suffer from motion sickness at all, well i thought i didnt until i played skyrim in vr, i litrally can not play that game at all with how sick it makes me feel even after a few minutes.
Skyrim and Doom make me wanna puke when sitting and playing with DS4 but once I switched to move controllers and standing it all went away.
I lent out my ps vr. I need to get it back like right now lol

Wow, that's crazy. I set strict rules and make people agree that if they break it they bought it just to play mine. I wouldn't loan it to my momma, lol. Seriously though, the only way it leaves my house is in the trash when it stops working or through thievery of some flavor.

What does rear view look like? What does looking over shoulder or left/right windows look like?
Never been a fan of racing games, but given the rave reviews I'll pick this up if it goes on sale. I do have GT Sport which I picked up during the last big sale, and I did enjoy it in VR quite a bit more than I expected I would.

I have gotten motion sickness from playing this. But nothing worse then can be expected from an intense rollercoaster. Either way it's such and awesome experience it's well worth any discomfort.
Main quest = Go fast. 10/10
Bought my VR a day ago and got to use it for the first time with Wipeout. Thought it was incredible but it did make me feel a bit sick. But it was my first go.
Also tried the Jackal demo from Infinite Warfare. That was cool too and free.
UPDATE: Jackal Assault gets old quick. It's just for show and it seems impossible to die.
Wipeout is great though.
I loved the Jackal demo too, played it like 5 o 6 times when I first got my PSVR. Then bought Eve Valkyrie, which is a similar game, controls are different though and take getting used to. But Eve Valkyrie is a full game and pretty damn cool. It has a demo you can try.

Always preferred Fast RMX. Before today. Now there is no going back. Felt like a kid today, pure joy and happiness.
I am very happy to see that they haven't given up on the psvr the way they did on psvita. As an early adopter of both systems, there is nothing I hate more than having to rationalize your
acquisition later in the cycle when you start to realize that the system is not really well supported. This was very frustrating with the vita and I had a hard time justifying the 400 plus bucks I spend on the system + accessories.
The psvr so far was in the middle. At the beginning, i couldnt lay it down cause I was so trasnfixed by riggs and eve valkyrie. However, since then, only few games, notably RE7 and the Eve updates, have managed to bring me back to it, and the system is gathering dust.
So the fact that one of my favorite racing series evers is getting a VR update...makes me happy for more than one reason.
Thanks for the review, this is amazing. PSVR is killing it. Microsoft missed out big-time.

In the US I've occasionally heard people call the turn signal on a car blinkers, never heard either term concerning a horse. He repeatedly said they can be turned off, but didn't say how. Got on my nerves cuz the options aren't always clear with what VR settings actually do or change. Would have been helpful information.
It's the 'Headset Settings - VR' option. Choose from Large, Small or Off.

Maybe it's different with vr on, but every time you hit the speed pad, it didn't seem as though you actually hit it, if you know what I mean.

Fuck that! Turn them 'comfort' features off!! I wanna feel like inside the cockpit and rotate with it! In glad they gave me the option to do that. Gonna pick this up tonight now that it supports VR.

The marketing peeps at Sony need sacking. They should be screaming from the rooftops about this game. This would sell huge amounts of headsets and can you believe it only took 5 people 6 months to port it VR! Utterly stunning game !!!!

kraenk12 Actually I'm an Indie VR dev, besides, pretty much anybody with eyes can see that Triple A has been afraid of VR games for some time.
It's becoming less a problem now since, like I said a while back, the motion sickness has started wearing off for early adopters (entirely for myself, but I accept I'm an outlier)

kraenk12 It's true, it's been increasing more recently, but the honest truth is, VR has been being pushed forward by Indies from the start, and even now the boundaries are pushed mainly by Indies, it's a lot safer for a big company to rely on tested formulas, tested by Indies of course :D

Motion sickness on VR varies from person to person, it's not about "the tech getting better".
CK TV so the technology will never be improved to limit the motion sickness? I thought that was one of the main goals? To limit the sick feeling that comes along with it.
PewPro there is a natural disparity between what you see and the lack of g forces on your body and in particular your sense within the vestibular apparatus. Not sure anything less than a full 360 degree motion cabinet would suffice for some sensitive folk. I know that the range of comfort options on wipeout are very comprehensive so most people should be able to play it in vr.
PewPro then please tell me, o wise one, how improved tech would make people less motion sick?
