    Even if you aren't into racing games, this is without a doubt a MUST own. Probably the greatest VR game ever made in terms of what it actually delivers. Sony are fools to not be advertising this to push out more PSVR units.

    VR makes everything better. I didn't think I'd love this game anywhere near the amount I did. Now I'd really love it if someone remastered the old star wars pod racer game for VR.

    Superb review discussion. Yea it's a nailed on 1. I played the first hour with a permanently wide open mouth. Could not believe it. And having the camera set to the pilots head really makes u lean your body into corners which adds a lot to the feeling of being there. So so good.

    Been waiting for this episode since Wipeout got released. TO THIS DAY I consider it to be THE killer app for the entire VR platform. I wish more developers could/would take a page outta the Wipeout team’s playbook, they did an amazing job. Best. VR. Game. PERIOD. Great content as always, guys! Thanks for always serving the PSVR community! 👍🏼

      Lightspeed Edition is just the complete game with all the DLC. The PSVR patch was supposed to be out by the end of 2017, so yeah, the patch is EXTREMELY late. It would be nice to hear an update (even "don't worry, it's still coming" would be fine.) :D

    I bought PSVR just to play this VR dlc a few months ago. I play it nearly everyday since I got it. I hope sony makes a new WipEout that involves more narrative between these different brands and your piolet. We have visual immersion, all that's missing is RPG-like elements that make you feel like you're a legit piolet. The world is so rich and it's a shame I can't see more of it. I would also like to design my own ship decals, colors and subparts.

    I bought an Oculus Rift this year and have been primarily using it over my PSVR due to a much more powerful PC powering it and its much superior tracking. However, this is still the best game I've played in VR.

    Awesome guys! I agree with Dez that people need to experience a game like this to understand how great it is but I think Sony is wary of just having the headsets out for people to try without having a person to help put it on deal with any issues a random person may have with setup problems comfort issues etc. I still think it's a good idea but maybe an expensive proposition?

    btw I've found best settings are actually with the blinders OFF, and lock VR to pilot. Feels odd at first ONLY if you played with lock to track or lock to cockpit first. But Took only moments to get used to it and feels SO much more realistic. Main tip.....MOVE YOUR HEAD. It's when you treat it like looking at a TV, that things feel weird. Move your head like you would in real life, and it's awesome.

    Experienced motion sickness pretty bad for the first time in VR with this game, wasn’t keen on that. Good game, but felt it even playing for a short time. After checking your review here though and knowing there’s an option to switch the camera to not locked to the pilot's view, hopefully it’ll change things. Will have to try it.

    The original on PS1 was one of my favourite games when it came out and really defined a part of my gaming history as a young teenager. It played a massive part in the UK of making the playstation and gaming seen as for more than kids with Sony installing demo units in clubs on launch (creative marketing & marketing budget the PSVR could do with!). So got the Omega collection on launch and loved it playing in 4k on a pro to start with. Was so desperate for it to be in VR I would play in cinematic mode in first person view (as close to the cockpit view as I could get at the time) so was incredibly happy when the VR mode got announced (something I had accepted wasn;t happening after one of the developers said it would make people too sick) and when it actually came out it excepded expectations. No way I can go back to the flat screen version. Between this and dirt rally (was really hoping for a dirt 4 VR mode but doesn't seem like it's coming) they have ruined being able to play flat screen racing games for me!

    This is a game I've been debating buying during the big sale. I downloaded the demo, and I love the visuals, the music, the speed. The thing is, this is the first and only game that has given me severe VR sickness. I've played Doom VFR with the DS4 and all comfort settings turned off, the Res7 demo with all comfort settings turned off, and not so much as a tummy grumble. But I can only handle WipEout for a few minutes before I have to take the headset off and lay down. I'll have to play with the comfort settings and see if I can work it out, because I really want to be able to play this game!

      The rating scale is way too basic. But that's why we don't just say "This game is a 2" - we say "This is a really strong 2" then follow it up with about a minute or two explaining our final thoughts. Maybe we need a better scale...?

      Hey Matthew. I played League of War twice and somehow never got a review done. It's short, should only take 3 or 4 hours to beat, I only lost two matches the entire time so I found it extremely easy (no strategy at all) and the multiplayer is a joke. All that being said, I had fun with it! It's like playing with army toys that come to life and shoving them at your enemy en masse. :D

    I wish I could get back into this game. I was trying to get platinum for a while and I even got all elite passes on the 2048 campaign but after that I kind of gave up. It’s weird because I could spend hours trying to get an elite pass on one really difficult track but now I get sick of tracks very quickly if I can’t pass them.

    • @WithoutParole
      @WithoutParole  6 лет назад +1

      That's strange, I'm totally the opposite! Even when I'm capturing footage for the review or this video, I had to force myself to try different tracks instead of just playing the same one over and over. Does that happen to you even in non-VR mode?

    • @matthewuzhere
      @matthewuzhere 6 лет назад

      PSVR Without Parole I honestly never really play without VR. I guess I just like 2048 much more than HD and fury and so I just have a hard time replaying those tracks while I could play 2048 forever (but now I don’t have any incentive to since I’ve finished the campaign).

  • @neonpop80
    @neonpop80 6 лет назад

    Guys, I’m disappointed you didn’t mention the non VR backgrounds. The backdrops aren’t stereoscopic so they don’t have true depth. Which explains why you don’t get sick at high speeds. I was so disappointed in this. I just felt something is off. Ultrawings is true VR and there’s way bigger difference in true VR.

    • @WithoutParole
      @WithoutParole  6 лет назад

      Do you have a link you can send me to support this?

    • @neonpop80
      @neonpop80 6 лет назад

      You can look at it yourself. Close one eye then the next. There's no actual depth. It only rotates as VR but not actual stereoscopicly. Then compare with other games. They wont be advertising this.

    • @WithoutParole
      @WithoutParole  6 лет назад +1

      I'd heard this rumor before and did exactly what you're suggesting - and the image shifted accordingly. I feel like the tracks have depth (as with Thumper it's easier to play in VR because of that depth) so I'm happy with the effect regardless of how they pulled it off. I can't go to bat for something I don't believe, but I'm more than happy to be proven wrong! :D

    "Wipeout," as in the surf rock song, by Dick Dale? You either have to listen to the original -- if you've heard some bad cover -- or I need to make a mental note never to pay attention to your advice about cultural materials, beyond PSVR. Dick Dale is awesome, and so is Pee Wee Herman. That's one horrible, sweeping opinion about music, TV, and film -- basically all the other types of A/V content.
    Otherwise, I like the show a lot. Thanks for the time and effort! Def worthwhile waste of my time... 😂 🌊👑👍🏼

    • @WithoutParole
      @WithoutParole  6 лет назад

      The version I'm familiar with is by The Surfaris, but my comment wasn't regarding the quality of the song itself. It was about how that song had been used, reused, and overused by in movies (and even worse, a million tv and radio ads) thus giving the name "Wipeout" such a generic connotation, rather than the "extreme" feel Psygnosis was going for.
      I love video games and have been playing them all my life, so you can probably trust my opinion on them.
      Everything else should be questioned. :D

    Is everything in this game playable in VR?

    • @WithoutParole

      Yes, they ported all three games COMPLETELY over to PSVR. Crazy, right? :D

    Good game but much like most a week after launch and at least my list of vr friends are never on it. :/

    For multiplayer, does it combine flat and vr players?

      Yes, absolutely. :D

      Cool, so finding players shouldn't be bad

      It depends on the day and the server honestly. Your best bet though is to join a PSVR community (like ours, or countless others) and try to schedule a time for everyone to play.

      Just comment anywhere on the channel but add a #viewertakeover - that's what I usually search for when I'm putting the show together (like I'm doing right now!)

    I like everything about it other than it making me feel like I'm going to throw up.

    Sorry Sony. If you want me to buy another one of your video game consoles, like I have with every other, then you need to make a NEW Wipeout game. Not spit out rehashes of the ones that were released before axing a 20 year partnership with the developer. I have every Wipeout game except for this, because I don't have a PS4, because there is no Wipeout game for the PS4. The VR support looks good. If I would have owned a PS4, and if this were a game I can't already play on my PS3, Vita, and whitelisted PSTV, then I would buy a VR on top of a PS4. Sony apparently thinks killing off their Mario is a good idea.

      Neil Hogg try switching to EU servers (if you aren’t already in the EU) and there are usually at least 2 online games going on

      Or jump into our PS4 community (PSVR Without Parole Gamecats) or any other PSVR community and schedule a time to play Wipeout. I think you'll be surprised how many people will join you! :D

      Oh man I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you'll be able to play it some day - pretty much everyone I know has overcome their motion sickness with time and can now play every game without issue! :D
