    Couldn’t get my Mercury to pee after bringing it out of winter storage. Watched this video, flushed it through the top hole (without running it), and now she pees like a racehorse. Great video!

    I bought a quick disconnect hose setup. You don’t have to spin the whole hose when you connect up top.

    Some models require the engine to be running for the top hole method. Mine does. Read the manual.

      I did! I love it. Haven't fished fresh water in decades. Literally. Had it on the Colorado a few times where I plan to concentrate on Flatheads. Have a 12 gal Moeller gas tank on order. Wanna do a bigger cranking battery and add another trolling motor battery. Would love to do a bunch more stuff (and I will) gotta wait for my budget to match my needs (wife claims they're wants) :)

    flush from the bottom should be enough , hose feature is a perk, no diferent from bottom just easier

    So, is it required to do both flushing (top port and ear muffs)? Do they flush different parts of the engine? Thnx!

    When you say "the motor being hot" am I still good to flush the engine that way after a 45 min ride home? Would the motor still be hot at that point or is that just recommended for using right after u shot off the motor?😊

    Big part of the flush is do not start if you r doing a upper flush

      The manual says to start the engine in idle when using the top flush port and run for 3 to 5 minutes in order to open the thermostat

    • @perfecthourglass
      @perfecthourglass Год назад

      Yeah the manual says nothing of muffs and just talks about that top port and says to run it which makes no sense because it's otherwise an output. What's with that?

    • @perfecthourglass
      @perfecthourglass Год назад

      Do you know why the manual says to run it when you obviously shouldn't?

    • @lukefh3093
      @lukefh3093 Год назад +3

      @@perfecthourglasswhy should you obviously not run it? The manual for my model (20HP 4 stroke EFI 2023) clearly states that when you use the flush port, to run the engine for 3 to 5 minutes in order to open up the thermostat so fresh water can get into the whole cooling circuit. It says do not run it above idle. I'm pretty sure you're not going to burn out your impeller as long as you don't rev the engine above idol while it's being flushed through the port hole that's specifically designed for flushing. The internet is a total clusterf*** of misinformation on this stuff, just follow the manual

      The mercury owners manual says to turn the motor on when u connect the hose to the top outlet

    • @tone-np2mf
      @tone-np2mf 2 года назад +1

      i have a 2021 Boston whaler 60 hp and i have been told by many boat mechanics not to start the engine when you do a top flush because i will burn my engine out.. but my Mercury owners manual says turn the motor on when you connect the hose to the top outlet so just to make sure i called mercury and talk to the warranty department they ask for the model number and serial number for my engine and they told me this is a brand new engine and do what the owners manual says.. keep the engine running on a top flush especially that the engine is under warranty..now I'm thinking maybe the older models mercury engine you can't run the engine on a top flush because you might burn something out..just to make sure i would call the mercury 1800 number and give them your model # and any other numbers they might ask for just to be sure because you don't want to burn your engine out..

      @@Carlosboatingadventures20007 Yes, for a 2016 Mercury 115 EXLPT 4S service manual requires engine to be off as flushing from the top is a back flush. I suppose other merc engines top flush that requires engine to be running, feeds into the inlet of the water pump. If not, your water pump will be fighting water hose pressure.

  • @-CHeWy-
    @-CHeWy- 2 месяца назад

    This is bad info. They need to flushed for 12-15 minutes minimum. The engine needs to get up to temp to help break down the salt. This thing will have a ton of salt in it.
