Did mine today and it went pretty well thanks to this video. My bed was off so it was a lot easier, but still knowing how to remove the connectors was useful, not to mention the locking ring. Why Ford uses a metal ring that rusts so bad to hold the fuel pump assembly is beyond me. Something made from hard plastic or stainless steel would be a much better option. I used a wire wheel to remove a lot of the rust from the ring which made it easier to go on I think. Thankfully mine came off a lot easier too. One thing that did not come across well in the video is that the fuel pump assembly hits the bottom of the tank and is spring loaded so you need to push down to compress the springs. I'm sure that is why you mentioned having two people, but it was not clear...at least not too me. I thought at first I had the wrong pump so I pulled it back out to compare and figured out then that it had springs that needed to be compressed. Anyway, thanks for the video....well done !!
Imagine a world where the Ford engineers designed in a plate in the bed that secured with 3 bolts so you could change the fuel pump from above without removing the whole tank!
Is the filter built in with the pump. I cannot find the fuel filter on mine anywhere and where the fuel filter usually is there is just a vapor canister.
!!As a mechanic one thing to note is that you can only do this on a fuel pump that already has been replaced once but if it's the original you're trying to remove most likely it will come out by forced and in pieces probably!!!👈🏽
Hi, I have a 2014 XLT F150, been having issues. Is there a fuel filter. If so is it in the tank or along the frame somewhere. The usual place is held by the Fuel Vapor Canister and can't seem to find the fuel filter to change out.
Hey there I have a 2007 ford 150 xlt crew cab truck and last week my fuel gauge jumped to zero when i turned the truck on then i reset the battery and the gauge went up to full when i only had 3/4s of a tank left. Then just yesterday the check engine light came on so i took it to AutoZone and the computer read the fuel sending unit is bad. So since I was able to have the check engine light turn off by resetting the battery is it really the sending unit or do I have to take down the whole tank and replace the whole fuel pump and everything on the tank just to be safe? Where exactly is the sending unit located?
i literally love and hate you right now haha. ziptie...as ridiculous as that sounds its going to be the fastest and easiest way for me to get that connector back on because IT WILL NOT CLICK BACK INTO PLACE!!!
What is the name of that connector that you had to wire tie? I have the same truck and my same connector broke and I need to replace that connector but I'm trying to figure out the name of that connector or what hose it's for?
Help i did everything you did in this video but my truck only ran for a minute with the new fuel pump and will crank but wont start and gave me a code p0627
Is the video broken for anyone else? I’ve tried 4 different times, and I can get subtitles, so the video IS playing, but there’s just a black screen with no sound
+Danny Almanza There could be multiple different reasons for needing to replace the fuel pump. If you are having issues, we suggest having a mechanic take a look at the vehicle to determine whether the fuel pump should be replaced.
Mine on this truck. Started cranking slow...Fuel gauge started going all over the place and then a bout a week in. .. yesterday sewage smell all day. Followed me around... and today not crank.

I’m glad I live in the South!
Is it easier to pull the bed off?? Or drop the tank??
Seems like you should have brushed off most of that rust with the old fuel pump on and air gunned the rest .
Stay on ground. A floor jack works. Done it few times. On different truck wasnt as bad. But..... im wondering.

that truck is full of rust. I recommend selling the truck or send it to the junk yard
Think you can fine another vehicle with some more rust..lol
Symptoms leading to fuel pump change? or was there a code?
