This kind of content helps those who really need to save, want to save, or just don't use there phones enough to justify the need for more "frills". Stetson, what about US Mobile's pooled plans?
    Even if you made 3-5 5GB individual pools so people don't use more than their share, the lines are 19.49 each (only $0.49 tax per line unlike their other plans). $9 + $2*5. Pools are great for flexibility too, we share 3 GB for our pool and add 1GB/$2 as needed mid month. If it's one pool, then sharing data is even more helpful.
    Also, interested in Google Fi's basic unlimited plan. Pretty good with a lot of people on the group and they seem to have good deals on Samsung phones nearly every year. (But their support is the worst of any MVNO I've ever used, which isn't as many as you but still a lot).
    Great video as always! Also interested in how variables like Netflix or other perks impact the bottom line. So many variables! :-)

    Stellar video. I like the comparison of the “true cost“ of each plan. Last year when I was comparison-shopping, I noticed that 5 lines of the AT&T Unlimited Elite plan (factoring in the signature discount) was slightly less expensive than the Cricket More plan, once you take into account the device cost and trade-in credit.

    Thanks. Could you do one for someone that needs native international roaming? It's important to have access to the US number all the time for calls and texts. Even paying say a one time pass for $50 for a month of high speed roaming is fine. Currently have family plan on T-Mobile postpaid but wanted to see if there are better options. We typically buy our phones outright and don't want to FAFO with trade ins.
    At least 30 GB of priority data and deprioritized unlimited afterwards is okay.

    Nice video. I would that for me sometimes I call customer service and "negotiate" certain deals. What I find is that if you push a bit they will an old promo or trick to enable a current promo you want. I did this twice with tmob. I got a magenta max discount without having to upgrade my entire 9 lines to Max. Plus you can use the rules to your favor. Like adding a line for a promo discount and then dropping another line 3 months later & not affecting the promo.

  • @sohailsiddiqui5232

    I think you missed the part where Tmobile required a new line for the phone discount. One cannot add a new line every 2 years to get free phone, that does not make sense. can you adjust the pricing to reflect this? Also trade in value is not free money and cannot be simply deducted as free cash. You need to adjust for that also.

    good video overall but I am curious y the visible $45 plan was not included anywhere? it includes taxes and fees and is only $45/line and has 50gb premium data. also another thing to add is digital perks can save people for example US Mobile lets you pick a service or 2 depending on how many lines like HBO Max or Apple Music, and Verizon does the same and t-mobile.

    The thing with going with small carriers that people need to be aware of is dropped coverage, and it happens a lot. As an example, if you have service with Metro you're using T-Mobile's network. If that network is getting congested and bandwidth needs to be freed up to keep the data flowing, who is getting their connection dropped? If you guested you on Metro as opposed to the T-Mobile customer, you would be correct. All the major carriers do it the same way, which is fair since their primary customers using their networks are paying more in general.

    You need to more clearly define how you are calculating trade-in values for a better total cost per line. How often are you getting those trade-in credits? (It is not the same for all carriers.) Also as some others have pointed out, the discounts require adding a new line which is not practical. I believe there are a decent amount of people that get second-hand phones so more clearly defining your assumptions on the average money spent on new[-ish] phones per line would go a long way in clarifying your comparisons. A consumer who typically buys a $200 phone every four years is not getting the same value out of a $800 trade-in credit every couple of years (though they would probably be getting a better phone more often with that much credit).
    I do realize you list a device cost per month and perhaps this is what we need to rely on to pull device cost back out of your numbers.

    Did you know that the Motorola Edge Plus 2022 is not 5G. Blew my mind when it's labeled as 5G on the box. Even Best Buy has it labeled as 5G with all major carriers.

    • @NateBraska
      @NateBraska Год назад

      Can you clarify? Like not 5G at all or just not mmWave? I could see it having some 5G capability but not all the most advanced 5G. If that's the case, it's technically not wrong and common for several phones like Pixel 4a 5G and many others in 2021/2022. If it's truly 4G LTE only, then yeah that's bad.

      @@NateBraska It is bad. They can't even get LTE to work on it. It's just 4G. I'm paying for their top 5G plan. And made sure that I'm in a 5G/4G LTE area. I'm guessing it's a defective phone because I bought it brand new from Best Buy.

    • @StetsonDoggett
      @StetsonDoggett  Год назад +1

      US Mobile’s Unlimited Premium Plan is a great plan. However, if you factor in the phone discounts from Verizon, then Verizon’s 5G Play More & 5G Do More plans become cheaper. If you prefer purchasing your devices outright, then US Mobile is still great. But if you are okay financing, I think Verizon becomes the better deal.

    “Get a free phone every two years” - you seem to be ignoring “and new line” and “add a qualifying line”. Existing customers can’t just add a new line over and over.

      It turns out that the deals around the holiday season typically apply to existing customers as well, with no new line requirement! So you can upgrade an existing line, trade in your old device, and get the credit. Unfortunately I didn’t have a screenshot on hand to represent that, but this has happened for the past 3 years.
