Not only are those engines functional, but they're works of art.
You all prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..?
I somehow lost my login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Khari Keaton Instablaster :)
Sounds like the pistons are swapping holes!😂❤❤

Somewhere, in the dark depths of this world, a member of OSHA is losing their mind
And a few tree hugging EPA goons as well.
ROFLMAO 😂😂😂
Nothing purrtier than the sound of a radial engine :)
Agreed
That is the main reason I ride my '05 Dyna Wide Glide. Harley V Twin, basically 2 cylinders off of a radial engine.
@@xlrider1565 I always thought they should have added a third cylinder to provide smoother every-other-cylinder firing order, like radial engines.
Love radial engines.
1:28 it did put a smile on my face
That C54 actually sounds so mean holy moly
Wat a beautiful sound coming up from that Radial !!!??
What a grouse cammy sound on that dc-6 or whatever it is @ 2.00, sounds better than my old Holden LC- XU1!!!!
DC 4...non pressurized 4 R20007M2...easy start n run wish I had one n could afford the gas..50 gal/hr per engine at cruise more than I make in a year...
I absolutely love the sound of these big plane radial engines starting up and idling! They sound (about 1:50) like a pro stock or top fuel dragster at idle. I often wonder what kind of battery power it takes to start one of these big radials?
The Ed Channel it ain’t a couple of AA ,s
@@tonywright8294 right, at least three alcoholic airmen were required.
these engines have an inertia starter system where either someone winds up or an electric motor starts spinning a wheel which then releases and the engine starts up from the inertia created from the spinning gear
best way i can explain it
@@garygary6032 I don't think that the C-54 has a inertia starter
Some older aircraft (adding other vehicles) have cartridge starters.
I bet the HOA loves these guys!
Cars: I have four pistons
Airplanes: Awww, how cute
Ya know there's more right?
❤❤ great sound, i am a fan of these engines
guy in the first clip is the exact type of person who I would imagine has a radial engine in their backyard lol
1:50 sounds exactly like mt 83 ford f-150 on a cold morning.
Isn't that soiund marvelous ???!!
if you ever wonder what a cammed big block V8 would sound like in a cessna see minute 2:00
0:00 my brain on the first day of school
Le bruit que font ces bonnes grosses gamelles !
Un régal !
2:22 Sure, stay precisely in the propeller's plane !
0:24 I would NOT be standing in the same plane as the prop.
From 1.25....those DC plane radials....
Beautiful sound,rumble tone.
My favorite is just before 2 minutes the green plane starting it’s 2 left engines, serious sound!
DC 6. R 2800's. ❤
3:21 on est content de l’apprendre mdrr🤣
Anybody know why radial engines always have odd number of cylinders?
To eliminate bad vibration issues...
Firing order is in constant rotation.
The multi-row Cyclone and Wasp radials had an overall even number of cylinders. Each row was an odd rumber.
With an even number of cylinders arranged radially and operating on a four-stroke cycle, there would always be two adjacent cylinders firing one after the other. This would be a case of unbalanced power pulses, resulting in excessive vibration.
Loved the beautiful bi-plane
Beech Staggerwing. 1944.
I love the sound of these engines
3:27 Belo avião!
Any RADIAL ENGINE fan ? :)
Idk
Usually air or water cooled
If my dad was alive...he would love channels like this. He spent 12 years in the RAFG after the WWII
Yes! IMHO odd cylinder engines like a radial (especially) are among the best sounding engines
P&W R-985, Baby!!!
Such old planes, but so damn amazing
I'd love to know more about the 3:00 and especially the 3:30 planes. They look awesome.
The first one is a Antonov AN-2. I already flew with one. The 9-cylinder radial engine (ASH-62) is started per inertia starter as you can probably hear. By the way, the antonov is the biggest biplane in the world.
The second plane you mentioned is a 1935 Waco YKC. It has a 7-cylinder radial engine (R-775).
4:14 bys just trying to have a relaxing round of golf and this guy turns up...
1:05 The propeller was about the start the engine turning left but it turned right instead.
Sounds like my old 1964 Mercury Comet... cool video, thanks !!!
That had a straight 6, didn't it?
1.22 reminds me of the Jimmy Stewart movie Flight of the Phoenix
Surprised on how fast the Antonov started. Harleys on steroids. Priceless.
Nordberg built radial two stroke diesel engines with a even cylinder layout
1.40/ THATS SO DAM NICE SOUNDING
what is the reason that one has to laugh hysterically about the Beech Staggerwing?
My A&P instructor was a fabric man. He spent years restoring a Staggerwing. I remember that he mentioned he couldn't find parts for the expando tube brakes. When the airplane was finally finished, he ran down the runway, locked up one brake and looped it, destroying years of work.
only wings is missing 👌

QUE PEDAZO DE TOTUNERIA DIOOOOOSSSSS
That's cool. Thanks mate
By the looks of those planes I wouldn't be caught ten feet off the ground without a chute strapped to my back
Imagine air to air combat, no aids whatsoever
Awesome!
So healthy breathing that exhaust.
Thanks for the video!!
0:05 odd... the starter sounds like a Ferguson tractor, hmmmm.
3:50 wonder if any Swift drivers have driven over the yellow hydrant in the driveway to the left and rear?
The y all loves the environment
It might have been helpfull to tell us what engines we are looking at!
Great video
nice video!
I wanna take one of the big old WW2 double wasps to the next event that Green Peace is hosting.
Why stop there? Get a Wasp Major or Duplex-Cyclone: "Belching fire on takeoff is totally normal. I swear."
@ Airtunnel ?!!
Excellent film footage and sound.
At 1.50 sounds like a Hemi
That’s a whole bunch of danger fans
FIRE in the HOLE!
Imagine if those propellers had hairline cracks, and everybody's standing around it close, acting as if their life couldn't be over in a matter of seconds!!🤦😳🤣
👍👍👍 🇧🇷
How's one supposed to read the description
I see environmentalists crying
3:43 wth was that guy letting out a girl squeal for
Even came in his shorts. 💦
Do these engines even have any efficiency?. And also they should produces as much less pollution
Efficiency goes out the window when you're designing engines for aircraft going to war.
These engines are in most ways just large versions of the common gasoline automotive engine. And as such, efficiency is about the same - around 25-30%. Maybe a little bit more since larger engines often have a higher thermal efficiency than smaller ones. Efficiency may not be GREAT, but it is not horrible, either. At least when compared to other gasoline reciprocating engines.
Pollution is a whole other issue, though. The smoke you see is actually normal for startup with a radial. Since the bottom cylinders are upside down, oil makes its way past the piston rings into the combustion chambers when the engine is sitting. This oil burns off when the engine first starts, creating a large cloud of smoke. But this smoke clears after the engine has run a few seconds.
Of course, unlike modern automotive engines, these engines have no electronic fuel injection, oxygen sensors, or catalytic converters. They therefore create a good deal higher emissions than a typical modern car. But the same is also true for other engines of the time, including ordinary automotive engines.
These engines also create fairly high lead emissions due to their need for high octane leaded fuel. Currently, aircraft piston engines still burn leaded fuel. So there have not really been any improvements in this area when it comes to aircraft reciprocating engines.
he must have inhaled much oil-gas exhaust.
I did not know the British had TBF Avengers.
Potato Potato Potato
Sounds like they need gaz
In British (correct technically) English there is no such thing as an 'airplane' . It is an aeroplane. An AEROdynamic mainPLANE aircraft
Brits can’t spell tire
1:50 sounds like the intro to Hot for Teacher by Van Halen ruclips.net/video/bMPlPJP2brw/видео.html
Lets get him a pile of Dislike for the click bait pic.
Electric starters are for sissies!
Awesome!
