When I was a kid there was a B-25 and two P-51's kept at our local airport this is mid 1960's, sometimes they would team up and fly around the area in formation, a sight I have never forgotten.
My Dad was an Instrument fitter, RAAF. Was at Bankstown NSW, WW2, was working in the hangar, heard this aircraft taxie to a stand Looked outside and said the was the sweetest sounding most beautiful aircaft he ever saw, say no.more. fond memories ❤
I am surprised in not reading One Comment about Jimmy Doolittle and the Tokyo Raiders. Sixteen B - 25s with 80 Men carried out a very daring but, successful Bombing Raid over several large Industrial area of Japan. The last Raider, Richard Cole, passed away just a few Years ago at 103. He was Doolittle’s Co-Pilot. Fergieman
My father was a B25 navigator / bombardier, and nose gunner, and flew 20 combat missions in the type over Italy and Yugoslavia in late 1944. On to Okinawa in early 1945 swapping planes to a Martin Marauder in same role for further 7 combat missions over Japan and China, passing 120 miles south of Nagasaki on August 9 1945 while returning from a mission and saw the explosion. I have his survival kit flight gear in my closet with unopened chocolates and cigarettes from 1945. Went into Air Force reserve in 1947 and left the reserves as Lt Colonel in the late 1970's, passed away age 93 in 2013.
I can't ever see one of these without recalling "General Dreedle's" beige colored B-25 with whitewall tires and flags flying (like on the front of a general's limousine) in the movie Catch-22.
Or the opening scene from Midway and the carrier launch have love B-25’s ever since. I’m lucky enough to live close to Urbana Ohio and a few times a year they fly out of the airport there and there’s no mistaking the sound of a B-25
My father in law was a B25 pilot. Not much is known about his missions because he never talked about it but I would love to learn more to pass on to my kids about their granddad.
Oh, splendid show! Such a pleasure to see a video of propellers where the chosen shutter spreed doesn't turn propellers into spastic bananas. Well done and all, etc.
Wow...beautiful...what a glorious sight, love the polished aluminium finish......I fly this aircraft in my X-plane 12 flight simulator, so flying the real thing is just a dream for me. But thanks for uploading this amazing start-up and take off, showcasing the great sound from the two Wright R-2600 Cyclone 14's....with 28 cylinders in all, from the two engines all working to get this beautiful bird in the air. Nice to see the J's transparent nose, it definitely suits the polished aluminium finish of the aircraft. Checking out your other vids, looks interesting, Subscribed.
B25 in camo at the Springfield, Ohio National Guard Base yesterday. Doing laps right over my house. We're in the race track. So much fun. Nothing like radials. During the flyins we park on the road at the end of runway and read the rivets from a hundred feet.
“Here’s Johnny” Introducer Ed McMahon of the Tonight Show w/Johnny Carson was an F4U-Corsair instructor in WWII and got orders to the Pacific but was canceled after the A-bombs were dropped. The Corsair was called “Whistling Death” by the enemy by the sound they made.
back in 1975 i was flying one of those across the Gobi desert delivering it to a company in China for the Inda government. halfway across the desert we lost all the electronics! i had to sit the old bird down on the sand. me and the flight engineer were the only 2 on the ship. with no radio we were stuck! in about 2 hours a caravan of Kazakhs desert dwellers happened along. we were saved! the chief took one look at the old Mitchell and was quiet taken with it! i speak some Mongolian, he told us that he would be glad to take us back to civilization if i would give him the old bird! well, i had no choice but to agree. so he sent for a team of camels to come pull the plane to his lair. on the trip across the desert on camel back i noticed the chiefs young daughter, she was a striking beauty! the chief noticed i had taken a liking to her. he felt bad about taking the plane so he told me that he was going to throw in the daughter on the trade! there was no way i could refuse because that would have been an insult! so i took a wife that day in the hot sand. when we got back to America i got a job with an airline and my wife Altansarnai got pregnant. we soon had a girl. then she got pregnant again, this time she had twins, but something was funny, the twin girls looked a lot like my old flight engineer! i had noticed he kept in close contact! mostly with Altansarnai! then she got pregnant again! but this time the kid looked black! and a lot like my co-pilot on the airline i was working for! so i started to drink heavily! then i wrecked the DC 10 i was flying on the runway into a parked 747, i was drunk out of my mind! i was fired. i took a job at a small airport cleaning out hangers, it was a sad thing. i lost my home and had to move into an old c54 parked on and old abended runway at the airport that i work at. the wife's dad gave us a camel and a few goats for food. the girls all got married and then all of them with their no-good husbands moved into our plane home! i became so depressed that i am a full time drunk! as i type this i am looking for a rope to throw over one of the propellers of the c54 and end it all!
There is a B25 at Willow Rum AP in MI that I have seen takeoff many times, and it uses very little runway during takeoff. Must have very good power to weight ratio. Explains why it was used in DooLittle Raid.
Gen William ( Billy ) Mitchell is my cousin in whom the Plane is named after. I'm also related to the Wright Brothers as well. Pretty Cool if I do say so myself!
Not far from me is Fleming Field , South Saint Paul, MN. Home of the Minnesota Wing Confederate Air Force and it's B25-J "Miss Mitchell" love to see it often.
It is great seeing the clear images of this gallant war bird. Closing my eyes in my historical imagination I can see these leaving Gander Newfoundland for the European Theater. 🙂
To think that in 2024 Boeing’s are falling apart as they takeoff, parts popping off in mid-flight, wheels malfunctioning, what is happening to this once proud company?
WWII produced some of the most sexy aircraft. Of course the P-51 but also the P-47. P-40, P-38, F4 Corsair and the B-25. Don't forget the A-26 and the A-1 Skyraider.
Absolutely beautiful. There's a historical aviation organization restoring a B-25C at KCUB in Columbia SC. The restoration is coming along. It looks good so far despite being recovered from a lake.
Credit where it's due, don't know how they're doing it but, that's the best sounding pair of 2600s I've heard in a LONG time. Nice job and a beautiful airplane, guys!
I sat in the cockpit of a Mitchell 30' underwater in a Bay in Papua New Guinea. The top of the cockpit was missing. Shot off or erosion ? US was trying to take PNG away from the Japanese.
It's when they placed those twelve or more .50 caliber Browning's into the B25 to play h**l with the decks of the enemy ships in the Pacific, that the B25 took on a true sense of beauty too me.
It always impresses me how the WW2 fighters and bombers looked so slick, sleek, and beautiful, while our cars in the same era were so phrumpy and downright ugly looking.
It must have been somewhere between 1975 and 1980. I was at Tri State Airport in Huntington WV. When I heard the sounds of engines. I turned and looked at the runway and there came a bright shiny B 25 Mitchel. I was a young man of 24 in 1975. I had never seen a B 25 Mitchel in anything but film. I could scarcely believe I was looking at one and one that looked so good.
“100% original sound.” How else are twin R-2600’s suppose to sound?! Anyway, the high polish is absolutely beautiful on U.S. WWII warbirds. Way to go Red Bull!
An ageless design. And very lucky pilots. No narration required. Thank you.
When I was a kid there was a B-25 and two P-51's kept at our local airport this is mid 1960's, sometimes they would team up and fly around the area in formation, a sight I have never forgotten.
That must have sounded great too 🤩
One of the best looking aircraft ever made
That shot of the port engine starting with its reflection in the fuselage is fantastic!

B-25’s, British Mosquitoes and P-51’s are my favorite WWII military aircraft ever. Great video of the most polished Mitchell I have ever seen. Thanks
Spifire was decent.
You didn’t mention the most advanced plane of the time, the Me 262.

Miracle any survived. Most didn't hav enough fuel to get to China. Was a HUGE US morale boost just 6 mo after Pearl Harbor.
They do such a good job keeping these planes looking perfect.
IMO, the most beautiful and meanest looking plane from WW2. Been up in Tondelayo a few times and it's always an intense experience. Keep 'em flying!

The Martin Marauder never flew over Japan and China. Were you thinking of the A-26 "Invader", sometimes called the B-26???
God Bless You !!

Awesome. restored to perfection. Never came off the production line like this.
This plane is a work of ART😊
I love that Red Bull salvages all these warbirds. Mad respect 🫡
civil oldtimers would be even better, at least they saved the DC-6
Their art could be better.
Confederate Air Force Salvages many old war planes.
Many Bases throughout the U.S.

amazing video- the unpainted silver looks so incredibly classy and timeless. great video production also. This is perfect
Adore the music of those radial engines ❤
The mass Mitchell takeoff in the movie catch 22 is poetry.

Got into one on startup and taxi years ago. It was loud and proud sitting behind the cockpit.

Beautifully shot !. Thank you ! :)
MAGNIFIQUE...total respect....
One of the best medium bombers ever produced Doolittle will agree with that ❤
The nicest B25 I have flown so far
