Without choke it cannot be started by hand. the carburetor has to be flooded until it makes a smacking noise, then it starts immediately. I own and fly this engine since three years.
You may just convince me there is more to life than Watts. That is awesome. Please post when she is flying, that will be one big bird and worth the investment!
@@davidmulcahy4864 It's a very cool engine and looks like it would be a fun engine to own... but for the price, I think the more modern compact jet turbines would be more versatile and interesting for various projects. I figured that this was not his first time starting this one, but you never know...
Я так моторчик 2-х тактный заводил 49 см. Ничего не получалось. Мне посоветовали выкрутить свечу и со шприца бензинчика туда, в цилиндр. И сразу завелось и отлично заработало.

Beautiful! ...If it's half as powerful as it looks, that frame to which it is bolted should be secured via cables to spikes anchored to the ground some distance away aft.
Bill's famous quote I don't know if it will start by hand in between eating through a straw. Animatronics at this present moment are developing robotic fingers for Bill. Friends and loved ones attended the funeral for Bill's fingers 3 months ago it was a beautiful service
That’s a nice engine. But just for the record, a radial engine can be machined out of a single two inch thick steel plate. It would have (almost) square pistons. The plate would contain the crankshaft and combustion chambers, and the cylinder head would be one piece, on the side rather than the top.
Actually it is a lack of contact that you have to have to start an aircraft engine since contact of the magneto is never broken but shorted out to keep it from firing.
i would wear leather gloves for starting as this motor will take all your fingers off and still be running. what a complicated piece of kit....well done for getting it started...scary stuff when in a plane i would only have electric start for this one....at least all you have to do is push a button on the tx and it will start.
I imagine if he'd just wanted something to just make a prop go round he would have done what you do. But nobody would watch a video of what you do. This is a guy with great skills and dedication at the point of bringing something amazing to fruition, and that's what you got. You must have a hard time keeping up with the dinner party invitations.
it has often been said that the difference between man's and boy's toys is the price
I agree
Bill, that is a work of art, sounds bloody awesome
Will love to hear it in the air. I was worried it was going to pull the Workmate over!
Cool....I love radial engines . Flipping awesome.
A piece of beauty I wish I had one.
Super elegant piece of machinery! Wow!
Sounds really smooth. Well worth the wait!

Exactly, obviously dry at the beginning, then a typical RCist grinding away with a electric starter, eventually it suck up enough fuel to pop.
You may just convince me there is more to life than Watts.
That is awesome.

What a sound! Best 115 cc I've ever heard. Or 250 or 500 etc etc...
Outstanding shipmate. Press on. USS Kitty Hawk CV-63. Jan 1980 to July 1983. RC er for life.
VF-51
All I saw at the beginning was that thing starting and pulling itself into this man at full speed.
Very cool engine, wobbly stand, though.
Its fine - hes got his foot on it.

Beautifully engineered and crafted!
When you can get the goddamn thing to run
It was being stubborn at first but you showed it who is boss! lol! Sounds awesome!
Looks like a perfect engine for the bicycle
yea but i think the prop would chop your legs UP.
@@7000fps why do I need a prop on bicycle?
Wow , listen to that thing , sounds beautiful 🤩
Thanks for keeping film running. And you asked for smile. Nice.

Love how the guys in the area just start to flock over 😄
Superb videography.
Incredible engine. Hats off to you
Beautiful, what a lovely engine. 👍
Beautiful engine and so quiet...
TRUE BEAUTY OF ENGINEERING!!!!
Beautiful ‘old school’ engine
I used to work on real radial engines. Machine valve guides for new sleeves etc. Great engines.
Awesome 👍 Someone should make an airplane to go along with it.
Beautiful!
...If it's half as powerful as it looks, that frame to which it is bolted should be secured via cables to spikes anchored to the ground some distance away aft.
Absolutely beautiful thing, such a great sound.
Because our factories would not have anything to build if we never improved
So bad ass wow 👌 I only wish that 1 day I will have this much skills!!
My sphincter puckered every time you swung it by hand😳
same every time they were near the spinning prop
Skip to 4:15....
that's a powerful engine, look how it bent the prop.
Как мягко работает. Просто песня😊

That is a lovely work of art.
Vultee Vengeance Nashville Tennessee production.
This radial reminds me of that aircraft.
I like it, I like it a lot.
Cracking piece of engineering.
That's a lovely little engine
Beautiful little radial engine 👍
brilliant engineering
I'm a woosse, I hated seeing your bare hand flipping the prop, but, I love the result:)
When I was 10 I built and flew model planes, we started them same way.
A thing of beauty!
What a sound from such a small engine, that prop could have your hand off!
I don’t know which is more pleasing to the ear, Bills accent (Welsh?) or the engine😀
Little boys never grow up!!! Only thing changes is their toys and how they play!!!!!
A couple of guy ropes wouldn’t go amiss😀😀😀 Amazing workmanship.
Very cool! I used to beat hell out of my fingers trying to state my little .049. This thing would tear your arm off. Haha.
Hello my new friend this is an awesome video I really like this video.
Wow,beautifull engine!!
Well done! Glad you didn’t go the electric route for the engine as well.
Great sound. Would love to see two of them in a RC Grumman S2 Tracker.
I fell asleep, but woke up when it finally fired.
Incredible job!
Cool engine. It'd be a pain in the butt to have four of those in a plane to start.
Beautiful.

Fantastic!Would be perfect in a motorcycle.
The prop could be a bit dangerous, though. 😅
Well done Bill!
That's awesome it would be perfect in a motorcycle.
Beautiful. 👍🏻
Proper job Mate .
Wow!What a sound!
Perfect Work!!!! .....
Awesome engine👌🏻
Wow.. impressive 👌
Magnificent engine👍👍
Every man should have one
Mine starts first time every time. But i always get my neighbor to do the hand starts .
Nice engine, nice sound, hard to start. Love my OS they start at first attempt.
This was the first time it had been run with test rig.
The first time you start an engine ever in that configuration it's going to have to be tweaked to get the right air to fuel ratios.

You need to prime the motor, like the full scale version. Then it will start easy.

Somewhere around Swansea I guess. Intreage and engineering. Pleasure when things work.
Gelligaer - between the Taff and Rhymney Valleys. Swansea is 40 miles away. Just north of Caerphilly.
Safety? Not about me 😂

A beautiful thing...
Fuse two of those together to make a 1/12 scale Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp.
So smooth:)
Alright I need four of these for my B17 model
I didn't won't one till this video. 😍
beautiful
Nicely done
magnifico!
There should be a law... Use no more than 24 fps when videoing propellers.
🤣
look at the pushrods move too good
👍👍👍👍👍i love it 😍
That's a good airboat motor 😂
Very nice engine
Heck, get much bigger & you'll be up there flying yourself...... nice engine. peace
So cool...😊
Wonderfull...full size uses a pump primer
SUPER COOL!
Awesome maybe one day it will fly.
Хороший двигатель.
