You can't believe how important this video is for me, I couldn't find any of this new Optoma GT2100HDR review, and was already planning to buy it anyway for the specs (4 of them for an installation). But now it's clear that it's not worth it at all, Epson is clearly a winner. Thank you a ton for your review and amazing comparison!!!
I'm glad this video helped! 👍
BUT THE EPSON IS IN THE LEFT, NOT TGE RIGHT
@@theveryeasyway5007 watch from 2:05, it's clearly said that it's on the right
@@theveryeasyway5007 That's what I was thinking too,
In Los Angeles, we organize an elaborate Halloween event, and while searching for a new projector, I came across your company. Your work is truly impressive, and now I'm considering how I can seamlessly incorporate it into my yearly production. Keep up the great work!
Happy to hear this! Feel free to message me through my website if you have additional questions 👍
Probably the best video on projectors ive seen. haha! After hours and hours and hours of digging for a video just like this. ha! Thanks for just showing how they work! Straight forward!
Happy to hear it helped! 😊
Thanks for doing this comparison. I believe one big difference is the max width of an image. The Epson from what I see only goes roughly 10 feet wide. The Optoma goes roughly 35 feet wide. That's a big difference if you have a very wide home. Thanks again.
@@randykassebaum8815 all 3 of these projectors can cover the full length of an average sized house. If you are going based off the projectors spec sheets, this is a recommendation but they can go much bigger as shown in the video. Hope that helps!
thank you for this comparison video, it really helped me . I had to decide between these two projectors for a panoramic installation of four projectors. Your video came in the right time for me!
I've been shopping around and debating between the Epson and Optima. Was already leaning towards Epson before your review and definitely going Epson. It's almost $1,000 price difference between the two.
I'm so happy with this Epson projector! I will say it shouldn't be $1k difference though. They are priced at $1500 so not all that much more.
Awesome man! Thx. I am ordering the Epson now to replace my 1090
You'll be much happier!!
You happy with the switch ? I don't feel like all the colors always pop s much as I like with my optoma. Sometimes they barely show up at all on my house depending on the shade of color.
Very nice video and very helpful. One question, towards the end of the video you use all three projectors at once. How to you split the HDMI signal?
Thank you! So each projector was aligned and warped separate from one another within the software so it wasn't really an HDMI splitter but rather just turning them all on at once through madmapper at the end. Is that what you were asking?
@@fxprojections9769 Thank you very much for your quick response. I was thinking if it would be possible to user two projectors perfectly aligned playing one same video to make brighter. It would be cheaper to get two 4000 lumen projector than one 8000 lumen projector, specially when projecting on non-white surface.
@@trevilights oh yes that's possible! As long as each projector has 4 corner correction, you can use a HDMI splitter to make that happen 👍
@@fxprojections9769Awesome! Happy new year and my best wishes for 2024!
Thanks for this! I too was looking for a comparison like this. Do you animate your own shows or do you get the assets from somewhere?
@@chado6287 glad it helped!! I mainly use AtmosFx characters but a lot of the other stuff/effects is me and piecing it together.
@@fxprojections9769 Amazing! thanks for the tip and response :D
Not sure if I missed it, but how old was the epsons bulb at time of making this video? Would be interesting to see another comparison after a few hundred hours of use on it. I do believe the 3LCD tech is known to show brighter colors as you demonstrated, but not sure how well that hold up with bulb age.
The Epson was brand new. Since it's laser it's rated for 20,000 hours and has a consistent gradual decline over it's lifespan from my understanding
Love the video it helped a lot
Did you keep your laptop attached or did you output to some sort of device to play the content in the evenings?
@@seansalak9516 for the holiday seasons I usually export to a flash drive, plug that into a $50 media player and then plug it into the projector and will loop the shows all evening
Thanks for this
Great vid helpful
Hi, it is confusing a little bit if Epson is on the left side and you tell that its projection is on the right side. Are you sure that projection was configured in that way? Thanks anyway for this presentation.
Sorry for the late response. Maybe i should have went into more detail. but each projector did cover the whole house.. but using the Madmapper software i was able to cut/mask off certain areas. So even though one might have showed only half a side and the other showing the other half, they were still fit to the whole house but just blocking off a portion. So each example (i did many that night) i would cut off a side to show the other next to it for comparison. So in one example the Epson might have been projecting on one side but in another it would be on the other side. Hopefully that makes sense the way i worded this.
@@fxprojections9769 thank you, that does help! ignore my comment above.
I have the optoma 2100. My house is 60 feet wide. I'm having trouble getting my whole house in the view of the projector without loosing clarity. What do you suggest?
@@dodgeman577 interesting.. I'm assuming you've used the focus knob on top of the projector. They're does hit a point where if you are far enough back, certain projectors at certain distance can't focus that far out.. but that projector should be good at 60 feet. Are the projections blurry or just pixelated? It's expected being that far back for pixels to be almost the size of a finger nail.
That comparison was awesome as I had been tossing up between the Optoma but leaning more towards the Epson 210sf. Could you please let me know how far away from the house the projectors were and were there any issues with focus over an extended projection distance? I think you said in another comment that each projector could cover the whole house by themselves. May I ask how wide you were projecting? Thanks in advance.
Happy this helped! My house is 53 feet wide and pretty sure these could cover much more. I would say lack of brightness would become an issue before focus issues
@@fxprojections9769 Awesome, thanks so much for that. It gives me a lot more confidence in the purchase and if worse comes to worse for brightness I can consider stacking another projector.
Extremely useful video! Thank you!
Do you know, approximatively how far away the Epson is from the house?
Happy to help! It's about 25 feet back.. it's just a tad under half the distance back of your house length.
@@fxprojections9769 thanks for the prompt answer!
I'm trying to figure out if I can make a video wall of about 65 x 32.5 feet in size using 6 or 9 Epsons L210SF's.
You seem an expert in this domain which is fairly new to me... maybe you would have an opinion at hand for this.
Did you have focus problems with the Epson at that distance? In their calculator the spec says it can't go past a 49.93" throw distance, but you're way past that in this video.
No focus issues.. I'm not sure why projector central and other websites cut off the focus/projected size at a certain number but from my experience they can usually go wayyy past what it's listed at
@@fxprojections9769 amazing. Thanks for the quick reply.
I read all the comments and didn't find the answer.
First of all, I want to thank you for this wonderful video comparison.
It looks like Epson leaves no chance to Optoma, and the choice is obvious, but for people who plan to map not only at house, but also various objects in a dark room, not only color reproduction is important, but also black levels. (So that there is no ugly black square around your object, like in this video: ruclips.net/video/vXl7mOs1-vA/видео.htmlsi=v9tNAIyZ4oqjl3Ty )
Have you compared projectors on this parameter, because I have no doubt about the color reproduction with technology 3LCD, but black levels and contrast make me worry.
Thanks in advance for your answer!
@@thelasttrip5094 Solid question! I haven't had any issues with this since most of the time it isn't a pitch dark environment I'm doing projection mapping in. Any slight ambient lighting around what you are projecting on shouldn't make the "black square" noticable. I've never noticed it on a house or building but I'm sure in a pitch dark room it would be.
Any concerns about the Epson in cold weather? I'm located in Utah. Also, it seems that nearly all recommendations for projection mapping seem to lean towards the Optoma brand. After reviewing the specs, I thought the Epsons were clearly a good option. Any thought on that reasoning?? Thanks for your content and help.
Luckily living in Florida I don't have this issue lol but as long as when it kicks on at dusk and it's in it's 30s.. it should be ok. Once on it'll heat up enough (if in box/enclosure) and be ok if it drops more. But if it's below that, you might need to put a reptile heating pad in there. (I've heard many that do this).
Optoma is more popular because up until recently Epson didn't have any Full HD short throw projectors at a reasonable price until this L210sf. The only ones they had weren't as high resolution or were pro projectors which are much more expensive.
Thanks so much, you are amazing. I'm missing that Florida weather right now.

I'm just looking to get into projection mapping for the holidays. But do not want to spend a fortune. I can find a ViewSonic PX706HD a decent price on ebay, would you recommend this projector for a two-story home? Any ideas of a better projector for less than $400 used? Thank you
Yep the ViewSonic will still work well for a 2 story house! Also you can checkout the Epson 535w as there's a lot used on eBay.. those are even brighter but resolution is a little worse than the ViewSonic
@@fxprojections9769 found a great deal on a Epson 585W PowerLite, but contrast is only 10,000:1 Is this to low? Although I'm trying to save money, I do not want to waste my time if it doesn't look good. Thank you for all your help
Do you think you could color correct to bring them closer to the epson?
I'm sure it would help but not to the Epson level.
Hey Ryan, if i have a zh406st then to switch to the l210sf do i have to re map or is there any possible way to get the new projector to work with my existing shows?
It's not a guarantee but you might be able to using the 4 corner correction built into the L210sf to make the shows work. I wish i could give you a simple yes or no but it's not always the easiest switching projectors and realigning but it is possible.. I've done it before
@@fxprojections9769 are you able to use that optoma and the epson with the same map with moving iT around?
@@Gravey21 I was able to. But my house is kind of simple so if yours has a lot of depths, it would be harder. But you should be able to place the Epson in the same spot and get it right with the corner correction.
Isn’t the new Epson a “classroom or work PowerPoint type” projector?
It's under the work tab on their website. But I guess classroom would fall under that category too.
hey is this good? Epson Pro EX11000 ? Looks price is good. Thanks for video help
That is a good projector but it isn't a short throw so chances are it would be in the street/across the road in order to cover the house. For every 1.32 feet back in the yard it goes from the house, the projections will be 1 foot wide on the house. Example, for a 50 foot long house, that would need to be placed back 66 feet to cover it.
how far is the epson from the house
It is about 25 feet back
Watches video... Looking for used Epson L210sf!
Great job and thanks for putting this together!
Thank you! 😊
Why? The EPSON is on the left,...
New King?
Definitely the new King! lol
No not really, the EPSON is clearly on the left not on the right!!
@@theveryeasyway5007 Maybe i should have gone more in detail, but each projector was fit to the whole house in each example. Then I would use Madmapper to cut off/mask a section so i could show a side by side comparison. So one example might have had the Epson on the left and in another it could have been on the right by a simple click on the computer software. I did many examples that night so i might have switched sides here and there, but i tried to make sure i verbally explained it in the video which side was which projector. I'll keep this in mind for videos in the future though!
Can one projector do your entire house or you need 3 of them
Just 1 projector works well 👍 I only used 3 for brightness comparison
