Sooo in other words, just get an ev got it. For all the gear heads that are going to get triggered by this,I already drive an ev that I traded my petrol in for an will never go back for a multitude of reasons. And my main reason is this there is a very good reason petrol vehicles are cheaper than diesel and you having to close in on red line with the a petrol vehicle which wears the parts out much faster due to the use of lighter materials speaks volumes in itself.
No, not in other words. Get what suits your wants and needs. Smiles per miles. :)

C&D brake torqued it, and used rollout, to get 4.5 in the Supra 2.0
Yep, was gonna say the same thing. Get through that turbo lag faster!
What is rollout?
@@dubber4life usually is giving the car a foot of movement to get the engine going. Something a half well-built EV doesn't need since electric motors have instantaneous torque. So it's essentially the only edge ICE cars can get over EVs.
@@funkyfreak97 Not quite. Its the standard used in the US to mimic times from the drag strip. The two staging lights system used there account for differences in tyre diameter, nothing to do with engines. 1ft rollout benefits both ICE and EV times. In fact, performance model Tesla cars always quote the rollout 0-60 time so they look faster than they really are compared to non performance models.
Great video though, good length , good audio , great video , thank you so much seemed very fair , just want to know the battery SoC maybe even the SOH as well to know where the tesla is at
awesome video!
The Supra sounds so dramatic, but the 0 to 60 times don't look nearly as dramatic. 😅
Seems underpowered for something that's trying to live up to the mighty 2JZ of the prior Supra.
If it's getting beaten out by Tesla's slowest model then there's concerns.
But at the same time, Tesla is a little insane. The Model 3 SR+ (The slowest model) is still 320hp, Model 3 Performance is 490hp, Model S Performance is around 750hp, then Model S Plaid is 1,024hp, with the Model S Plaid+ being over 1,100hp.
That Supra is the base model 2.0 version. The 3.0l in-line 6 is a completely different beast.
Also the only other thing that I think you could have done to make it slightly more even would be a waiting cool down period for the tesla batteries and to know the SOC per each launch and make sure you start out at the best or slightly above the charge of the best SOC
I wonder how the 3.0 Supra would fare against the Long Range 3
At the end of the day an electric motor is always "better" because there are less entropy losses. There are more losses (i.e. heat, combustion, friction, etc..) in a combustion engine compared to an electric one so one should never really be surprised. More power is loss that can be used for usable work (i.e. hp) so the combustion engine will always be less efficient As long as the battery can produce the high current and the motor can handle the high current and translate it to kinetic energy the electric motor should always win.
However try modding your electric motor to make it go faster. Lol
Ok, I'll just wait another few months for a free software update while I sleep. Also, there's a guy who buys used Teslas and can turn them into beasts. Just because a traditional car mechanic can't do it doesn't mean it can't be done. It's just a different field of expertise.
@@funkyfreak97 sigh...realistically nobody is modding a Tesla at the coding level for better performance.
Sure, if you knew a guy/gal that worked for Tesla and had knowledge of the code than yes!....you could modify the control logic to enable the car to perform above its design specs. However, there are limitations, pros, and cons to this approach. Ideally you are detrimentally degrading the service life of the battery and the moving parts on the electric drive motor by turning your car into an electric sports car with parts that it wasn't originally designed to operate to. Sure go head....that's if you have the engineering to know how to do it....safely.
I have seen people modify their Tesla's for higher speeds by basically gutting the car of any excess unnecessary weight. That's a cheap effective idea, however I don't want to drive around in a Tesla with no passenger seat, backseat, carpet, glove compartment, seat rest, etc...
🥱
nice job
What was the Battery charged at when you did this test???
This exact question is one of the many reasons why internal combustion will always be better.
@@Draegon86 not at all. With a few years, electric will probably outperform ICE in every possible way. ICE has been around for many years. EV have only a decade ish under their belt and are already pretty much on par with ICE.
Give it a bit more time and you Will see EV with ridiculous range, an increase to their already stupid fast acceleration, and the will go from 30-45 minutes from completely dead to full in most likely half that time. Speaking of which, nobody drives their EV till 0, you usually charge from 25-80% and in reality only need a few minutes at a supercharger.
33k vs. 44k. Not exactly a fair comparison I'd say.
Not bad for the Supra
It's a 2.0 4cylinder model tested not it's bigger brother supra
@@denero4735 I know
I've gotten 4.9 0-60 in my SR+ I weigh 125 pounds. Normally get flat 5-5.1. How much extra weight you got in that thing doing 5.6?!!
Using rollout?
Not the same car. That is a Long Range RWD, you have dual motor AWD.
His is SR, not SR+
@@Scnottaken LR RWD not SR. The original car that came out in 2017-18
@@AdamWood @ 0:57 he starts describing the car, sounds like he's describing the $36000 SR.
WOW
Brake torque!!
nice video, ill take one tesla and one supra please, both are great cars
You gotta use launch control in the supra man 🫣
Why are they comparing the cheapest/slowest Model 3 with a Supra that is double the price tag 🤔
That's what I had available at the time.
@@everymandriver Then why even do this video in the first place this is a pointless comparison haha
@@jerryj009 not to me it isn’t.
@@jerryj009 it's not pointless. We know the model 3 LR gets just above 4 seconds in 0-60 for about the same price as a supra, and is twice as fast as a supra if you go for the performance. Meaning, the supra lost to the slowest and cheapest Tesla. So supra if you want engine noise and an exotic looking car, or Tesla if you want faster, beautiful, more reliable, cheaper, higher tech, environmentally friendly, low maintenance, etc, etc.
Someone nearby go let him test drive the long range model 3 or Y
Try using the 3.0L and use launch control next time :)

God daily drives a 2021 Porsche 992 Turbo S.
I get almost 3 flat in my M3P
A 2004 Lexus LS430 is as fast as this Supra. It does it in under 5.9 sec.
I didn't know Mexico had evergreens!
Yep
Should of use launch control even the Supra 2.0 has it
Get the Supra for looks and sound and driving feel or a gr86
Wow
I got 4.7 in my stock Ecoboost mustang...
Why not compare against the LR or Track version of Model3?
You can only compare what you have available.
He has to use the cheapest tesla so the Supra will have a chance.
Why doesn’t he have another driver and just race side by side? The way he is doing it is so boring.
Sorry but I’m a one person RUclips channel. Thank
Tesla just looks so boring... nothing special though even if it is a good family car.
Why arent you brake boosting that turbo? That said all that pathetic wimpy noise and barely matching a family sedan, mehhh
Wpw
Such elegant & beautiful farting sound from the Toyota.
The Bupra is in trouble when the new Z comes out to play. It's sad because the Supra and GTR were very comparable back in the 90s. But now the Bupra doesn't even come close. I still say Toyota would have been better redesigning the 2JZ to a more modern state. But then again Toyota has lost their mind teaming up with other manufacturers for powerplants for the GT-86 and Bupra. There's a reason why the JDM of the 90s had some of the greatest cars. To think about it Toyota and Nissan had multiple performance cars in the 90s that were on completely different level.
Nissan's are garbage. Too many recalls from the factory. Toyota is the better buy regardless of off the line performance.
@@Robert5185 lol apparently you didn't comprehend the comment. And I've always owned Nissan and Toyota and I have never had any problems with any of my Z's, 240s etc.
Sorry, but if we don't know the battery level... the value of battle it's almost null.
And compare the sport car with less powered Tesla... just to give a chance to win Supra.
Performance vs. SUPRA, even at low SoC(I think! ) will be 🙈🤭
Not bad supra, peppy lil number
Bad startings.....you need to know how to use a drag timer driving before do that man
My 3 says 4500 or close to that
Team Tesla!!!
Cant just put Model 3 in the title lol. There is more than 1 model 3.
Yes I can
@@everymandriver *Shouldn’t
and there’s also more than one supra trim. this is also just the 2.0 which is why it’s so slow lol
wondering how it looks like competing two car at 80 MPH for 200 miles.
😴
Yikes my dad's rav 4 prime is faster
0-60 is great comparison but supra was made for track. it shines in the turns.
Come on man. You can't get in a turbo car and just slam the gas and expect to have no turbo lag. You need to launch that baby. Who sends it from a dig and doesn't launch it. 4 sec easy!
Not a very fair racing using a 2.0 Litre 4cylinder ', underpowered model supra'????
The Tesla they used is the underpowered one too.
I buy the Toyota i want to hear the sound of the engine for me is waste of money for the Tesla.
Spending substantially more for something that performs worse simply because of the noise it makes. Sounds a lot like buying anything from Apple, i.e. a really stupid reason.
For the sake of uninformed people, why not put that it's a 2.0 in the title or description.
Got to keep the titles short and sweet.
EXACTLY I have no idea why he's used the 4cylinder supra against this car.
@@denero4735 Because he can and no one can stop him from doing it again…
l thought the supra would been faster then that.
It's the 2.0 4cylinder litre model tested not the bigger Twin Turbo 3.0 6 Cylinder model
@@denero4735 twin scroll, single turbo
@@OG_Castro 2.0 4cylinder. The 3.0 Twin Turbo is almost 2 seconds faster to same speed.
@@denero4735 well aware. I own a 3.0 and wanted to clarify the 3.0 is not a twin(2) turbo engine. No B58 has two turbos, that's the S55. Look up twin scroll turbo and twin turbo. Come on do basic googling. Doesn't take an engineering degree to understand this stuff.
@@OG_Castro that's why they call the BMW engine Twin Power.
Too marginal. Too many factors involved to say, but my gut feeling is the Supra 2.0 and you don't even have to charge it. LoL
They're not comparable. Supra is a small fun coupe and the tesla is a small fun sedan/family car. Yea the Tesla is faster; but... so what? They shouldn't be in direct competition; you won't generally compare them with a goal of buying one or the other as they're both being sold to different people for different use cases.
Hmm, gas shortage effecting millions of Americans says otherwise. Better stock up on plastic bags so you can fill your slow, expensive supra while paying upwards of $7 per 20 miles vs mere cents on the dollar for the same distance.
The Tesla is just meh. That sound piped in for the Supra is fun and exhilarating when achieving 0-60mph
Even if the Tesla went 0-60 in 2 seconds ... a Tesla is gutless.. It is electric power ..just a conglomeration of battery cells ... That is the truth like it or not ! No exhilaration ,no sound .. The same as a one speed golf cart and still plagued with many electrical problems .It is way down on the list in reliability !!! Reliability issues drag the cars brand down .. Read about it on the ~Insider~ and many more ...
It's also the 2.0 not the 3.0
@@charlesjackson1700 Golf cart? Boy are you clueless. hahaha
@@prestontucker1687 You are the one that is clueless.. Just listen to the Tesla from the start, it sounds just like a golf cart the same whine from the battery...What is exciting about riding on a big clunky battery with a car body attached to it ?😆 It is totally gutless and soulless.. They ride like a pickup truck with a bed of cinder blocks in the back.
@@charlesjackson1700 I guess you're from the generation that grew up with Need For Speed. :D
Sound is interesting only for the ones sitting on their couch in front of the TV.
You have to try an EV before talking such nonsense... Even the "reliability issues" you talk about is complete BS!
The yellow one sounds better. 😉
Yes, compared to the car body bolted to a heavy battery pack ..
@@charlesjackson1700 weighs more, yet still faster and much cheaper 🤣

The Tesla slid 6 spots in Consumer Reports 2021 to number 16 due to Reliability issues !!!
JD Powers Dependability Study put Tesla near the bottom of the pack !!!
Buyers Beware !!!!
I've had my Model 3 SR+ for 2 years. So far: Zero maintenance. Car has gotten faster and better since I bought it. Free charging the past 2 years (Yes I charge for free, can you fill up gas for free?) Consumer reports is pure bullshit. Don't let to car sites paid for by legacy auto
so much passion lol Model S here, 8 years, sure small things break but nothing serious. will drive for another 8.
