  • Coming up with topic ideas for your podcast can become daunting after a while. Whether you have been podcasting for a while or you are just starting out, it's going to be a grind to come up with topics for your podcast on the weekly basis.
Today I talk with Addie Saucedo, the creator of The Podcast Planner, and she talks with me about coming up with podcast topic ideas that will translate into great content.
When it comes to podcast advice, Addie shares a few tools from her Podcast Planner guide on how to come up with some of the most creative ideas for your podcast, how to structure your podcast to support those ideas and even shares a depiction of some of the tools you can use to come up with more podcast ideas.
We also dive into how you can get your audience to engage in your topics for your podcast. Addie suggests that podcasters utilize the ability to have listeners "call in" or leave messages through the voice recorder on their phone and email it to you. I also ask her if there are any specific tools that podcasters can use other than the voice recorder.
The one tool that we have both recommended is Speakpipe. This tool serves as a "voicemail" recorder that has a tab that hovers on your website for listeners to record and send messages to you.
To get started, go to www.speakpipe.com and set up an account.
Once you have set up an account, go into your Wordpress account, go to Plugins, then go to Search, enter "Speakpipe" and upload the plugin to your site. Use your login credentials to enable the plugin and you are good to go.
If you wish to change colors of the plugin, you may need to fine-tune everything in your Speakpipe account.
Addie and I talk about so much more in my full interview with her on my website. You can check it out here:

Hey Shannon, new youtube creator and aspiring Podcaster, thank you for these vids and tips. Doesn't make that mountain seem as tall lol!

    • @ShannonHernandez
      @ShannonHernandez  6 лет назад

Definitely not as tall as most think. A lot of times it is just mental. As long as the steps are in order for you, then you can pretty much launch a podcast in a few weeks if you prepare the right way.
Keep me updated on your process. I'd love to help where I can. And thank you for watching these videos!

    Hey Shannon,
Thanks for your videos..We have a difficulty in the flow of the speech being Indians while we have great technical content to be podcasted to the world. Though English is popular in India, I strongly feel flow should be fast enough to create energy and interest in the whole pod-casting experience. I see big difference between the native English speakers and Non-natives in the pod-casting arena.
Sometimes I feel that I have to write the whole speech in order to avoid the missing of flow. But I don't like to do that as I am really good speaker outside the pod-casting environment.
How to overcome this? Will this be a big problem for successful pod-casting? Please give some tips for Non-native English speakers.

    hey Shannon,
I was thinking about starting my own podcast, I'm very new at this type of work. For now I'm just interested in doing it on the side for now unless of course I begin to notice that it actually is something that i want to do for long term. I just don't know what type of hardware and software i should be using to start a podcast. And are there any strategies on how you can get paid to be a podcaster, or to market my podcast. Thank you so much for the video. I'm heading over to watch your interview with Addie right now. Thank you so much for the tips.

I believe you would still have to use a service like www.libsyn.com or www.blubrry.com to host your audio. When you set up your service in one of those services, you should be able to set the language for your podcast. Also, when you submit to iTunes, you will be able to specify a country.
I have a whole set of videos on how to start your podcast all the way to conducting interviews here: ruclips.net/p/PLq0-2tkvKoErkF6g4RzpWU2jcgFF0ELwC
