Wow Margot I've I've heard alot of many artists male and female sing cover album's but you beautiful you sing each and every song with compassion right from the very deep part of your soul just like the original musician with every word and with meaning My God your words that you speak it really touching my heart when I'm not having a good day or feeling blue when I hear you it lifts my spirit and makes me feel so much happier and puts a smile back on My soul thank you so so much and I'm keep on listening and playing my Harmonica and give other people enjoyment
Fantastic! I have waited four years for your cover of Desolation Row. You are one talented lady. I now await with bated breath an acoustic cover of Positively 4th Street!
Finally my favourite Dylan's song of all times here on Miss Margot's channel, was one of my suggestions from past years... The "grand finale" from one of your greatest albums (Highway 61 Revisited - 1965). Thanks Miss Margot for this amazing cover, and now i want please a cover of "Black Diamond Bay" (from Desire, 1976) and some songs from Slow Train Coming (1979) in your great channel. 👏
You captured the song -- in your own way. It's a song nobody should try because it would be so easy to wreck. But you didn't wreck it and your voice conveys the right emotion and caring. Very well done. And the simple guitar work is perfect.
That voice... ...just wow! I almost forgot how good a guitar player you are, because this voice is just so suitable for a rejuvenated Dylan-interpretation.
Keep them coming please Margot.
I saw Bobby perform this at the Tower Theatre in Philly just a couple, three years ago. Your inflection? Your affect? You are right on. Clearly, you have studied the music. This may be a cover. But, you have been faithful to Bobby on this. 6:17 Sunday moring, that's all I got. Beautiful Dr. Cotten.
Desolation Row - Stephen King's all-time favourite song! It may be long to some, but I always have to listen to it from start to finish. Wow, some rendition! Now looking forward to enjoying your performance of 'Blowin' in the wind' soon, pleeeez! 🤩❤🎸🎸🎸🎸🎤
Lovely Margot ... just listened to this coming from my daughters place near Croydon after building some decking for her and her wee lads ... the memories took me straight back to desolation hill in the Isle of Wight, the last Jimi Hendrix gig in 1970 ... wonderful times ... haha .. anyway what bits I can remember... your dad will no doubt recall similar experiences... as they say, if you remember it all you weren't there ... peace and love ... take care ... David ... xx
PIerre

This is one of the very few covers of this song I actually like! I love the original, and I've been listening to a lot of covers recently, and they almost all seem to miss something that I enjoy about the original. Desolation Row is not a happy place, but it also is not a place to be pitied. The narrator is singing from Desolation Row, and has a lot of fight in them. It's not easy to be in Desolation Row, but those who do survive there have grit and perseverance, and you captured that here. Funnily enough, although it's extremely different musically, the My Chemical Romance cover is the other one I've heard that I think hits this tone well.
Very nice cover, you bring out the emotions in the lyrics. Its all there, the hanging, Dr Filth and his sick patience's , atrocities on the innocent. The human mind in its darkest hour and how easily it can be held captive by evil. God bless America and her allies.
I am probably the greatest Bob Dylan fan in my country (Portugal) 'cause I've listened and sang a lot of Dylan songs. That one is certainly one of my favorite's but I never sang it because of too many words as most of his songs.😅
Right now Mademoiselle you are my favorite RUclips troubador because Margot Cotten + large body Gibson acoustic guitar + mournful Bob Dylan song =🎼🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎵🎙🎸🥇🏆❤❤❤❤🇨🇵🇺🇲😊😊😊😊
Another incredible Dylan rendition from the only person I know who can do them so incredibly well. I did not get Patreon warning, why? Love you just the same, Margot. HI! to Dad.
Always do; but you, Princess, will never wind up there. If it was a bitter cold day and you could see your breath, it would sound perfect.....@@margotcotten
Another very authentic Dylan cover. Passionately interpreted. My question is: How can you memorize so much poetry and text? I wouldn't be able to do that without a note. Kind regards, Manfred
I just listened to an interview with Jerry Garcia. He talked about how strange it felt teaching Dylan his own songs when the Dead were his back-up band. The Dead wanted to do songs he hadn't played in a long time. Garcia asked Dylan if he'd be able to remember all the words. One of those songs was Desolation Row. Dylan said not to worry, he'd remember all the important ones. Great lesson for all of us. There's an amazing tribute from Dylan when Garcia died. He talked about how much Garcia had taught him. That's the beauty of music. It goes out, it's picked up by others and ends up in France. Sitting in a bar outside of Athens - half Greek, half American/British - Yellow Submarine comes on the jukebox. Everyone starts signing. Including my Greek girlfriend, who knows the melody, but doesn't know what a Summer Reene is. One night a Greek radio station played two hours, uninterrupted, of Bob Dylan. Including Desolation Row. It blew my mind. Very nice version of a very great song. Well done. Thank you.
