Thank you ma for this tutorial its really helpful. My question is that what if I don't want to the front dart? Can I eliminate it by transfer to the side. Bcos I don't like my skirt to have dart on the front line.
Please a quick one, if i take 1.5 for the back waist to above hip slamt at the zip side and 1.5 for the back dart, if im making a gown, im i suppose to take the same 1.5 for the top zip slamt and 1.5 for the top back dart
No ma You can use 1.5 for the back zipper for the top but for the dart, you can use 1 inch depending on your bust size (it must not be the same dart intake for your back)
Nice tutorial please am a beginner and I want to know if there is a standard measurement for the knee or you will just measure it straight on the body thank you ma
The only standard measurement which is the basic measurement is by taking off 1 inch from what you have on the hip and mark on the hem part. For me, when I'm drafting a PENCIL SKIRT (having a fitted hem) I subtract 3 from my hem ( you can decide to divide by 2, remove 1.5 from the front hip and mark on the hem, remove 1.5 from the back hip and mark on the hem) but I usually remove 1 inch from the front hip to mark on my hem and I remove 2 inches from my back hip and mark on my hem, and I usually love the outcome. So, I will advice that if you are drafting a pencil skirt, for slimmer or small size remove 3inches, for medium size around hip 42 above 4 to 5inches and for plus size hip 52 above use 7 to 8 inches for the hem. If you're using 5inches, remove 2 from the front and 3 from the back If you're using 7 inches remove 2.5 or 3 from the front and 4 or 4.5 inches from the back. NOTE: this is for a contoured pencil skirt, but if you are drafting a normal basic skirt, just remove 1 or 1.5 inches from both the front and back hip to add to the hem part Sorry for replying late
Thank you so much for the tutorial, I'm a beginner and I would like to ask is there any formula on how to get the wrist to under butt measurement incase i don't have anyone around to take the measurement for me, please kindly let me know if there's any other way 🙏🏽
There's none ma It is best to take the under-butt measurement Another thing you could do is come down from the hip line by 5, 6, or 7 depending on the size and height of the person involved
GB I honestly love this method and the peace I feel learning from you. Dear pls what about addition of allowance (ease) I normally add 2inches for ease on my clothes how do i go about it just incase I add so weight or is it not neccessary in this method? Thanks ( kindly treat as urgent) much love❤❤
Thank you for this video its really informative. Please my question is: can this method still be applied to a pencil skirt with an elastic band by the sides? bearing in mind that some inches will be added to the waist which will automatically ulter the original waist measurements in other to accommodate the elastic band?. Thank you.
If the answer is yes, Assuming my original waist is "36" and I now add extra "5" making it "41" . So when calculating for the difference between my waist and hips am I to use Hips of "49" - waist of "41" ="8". Thank you.
Good morning sis Pls I just need a quick insight on this back hip been bigger than the front hip My question is When joining the side seam together, I noticed that since the back is bigger than the front it's kinda not balancing well, should we over look it?
Yes ma Just join them on the side seam by the time you wear it, your hip will sit well on it and create the balance Pls, make sure you follow the tutorial correctly Best of luck 🙏
I have sewn mine! It's so so cute! I used the skirt part to join upper body for a dress. Every one love it. No bulge, it's just ok! The way my butt is well shaped to my slim waist is super!. How I wish I can upload the pic here. Thank you GB👌🏾❤️
I just drafted mine now. It's looking so amazing already on paper paper 💃I can't wait to sew it. How I wish I can share the pictures here😜. THANK YOU FOR THIS TUTORIAL AGAIN LOVEY, BLESS YOU 🙏🏽😍💕
To get your hip depth line, measure from your waistline (the waistline you put your skirt) to the hip line (the point where the hip is at the fullest). It is usually 8 to 10 inches depending on the height of the person
Thanks very much maaa❤❤❤please can this method be use in pregnant women if no please can explain or do a tutorial on how to make a skirt for pregnant women 🙏🙏🙏
U just got a new subscriber. Please can wear a hip pad with this method. Like if my hip is 38 n I draft with hip 43 bcos I will wearing a hip pad tight with it
The 1/2 inches you added to the sides, the 1 inches step down you cut off from the center front and the 1 you slanted at the center back to 1 inches above the hip line. Please if I'm to attach a top to make a full gown, do I have to do all those? Please I will love to know. Please you remove 1 inches at the center back waist to 1 inches above the hip if I'm to remove 1.5 inches, do I have to also remove 1.5 inches from my top center back slanted up towards my neck zip line if I'm to join my top to my skirt as gown or I can take 1.5 inches for my skirt and 1 inches for my top before joining as gown. I hope you understand me, your response will be highly appreciated. I'm one of your subscribers 🎉

Adding ease is not necessary but if you want to add, you can add to your measurement first before dividing it.
