- Hans Pees is one of the most influential people in the chess world. He is the CEO of DGT projects, the company which makes chess sets that projects the games live, chess clocks, and much more. Hans visited India during the IIFLW Chess 2019-20 and we caught up with him to ask him about the new plans of his company. Hans discusses about DGT Centaur, what the future plans are, upgrades and much more. He also talks about DGT Echo which will soon be released in the chess world - a clock to help visually impaired chess players.

They might not have had competition when this video came out but that's not true now. I am surprised at the lack of new DGT boards, they've had the same ones for years now. Where are are the board colors, new piece styles etc

Got a DGT board 1 year ago. Use it with Arena chess to twitch stream my club's OTB games. Best money in chess I ever spent.
I used to think DGT equipment was overpriced, until i purchased a board/pieces and DGT PI. The value i get from it are worth the price. The BEST investment i've made in my chess equipment for study/practice, and play. Another souind investment has been the Chessbase products.

Buying DGT Board is waste of Money
Easy and bad technology (it was great maybe 20 years ago), overpriced for sure.
how do you setup a digital chessboard setup tournament with 100 digital chess boards?
To stay ahead of this game, is be both an avid chess enthusiast and at the same time a software engineer, to use smartcards and cryptography for authentication and digital signatures etc is the next phase
@3:00 I all the dgt boards allowed you to broadcast the games live. Don't the wooden Dgt boards have technology to detect moves? So can someone tell me what he is talking about?
Talked about the pieces but did not show them hardly at all.
Old and overpriced thechnology
I own at home a wooden DGT USB e-board with Timeless pieces for study, the same used in this tournament as many other competitions. While I can say that it's certainly a nice piece of "technology", on the other hand I cannot list all the problems I had with the PC drivers and how it randomly disconnects from the chess program (eg Fritz) and stops registering moves or inputs the wrong ones... So many years of DGT e-boards, which are clearly overpriced, and the same old technical faults still remain.
Interesting. I havent' had any of those issues. Are you sure it's not your PC/Operating system? Have you tried using another PC or with a DGT PI? You may try creating a New User or Profile, on your PC, and see if the issue follows. The board itself is simply transmitting a signal, not too much to troubleshoot there. Hope this helps.
Hi. How do you play with black on dgt chessboard with pi chess clock? It seems like the dgt chessboard with dgt pi chess clock always play the black pieces. Thank you in advance for replying this inquiry.
Simply set the pieces up, proper. Black on your side, and White on the other side, then press the clock lever for the other other side to begin. It should say "user black' . Or set it up under "position' in the menu options.

Do the dgt boards show the moves on the board, like the other boards or does it have to be hooked up to a pc or clock?
REGIUM Chess board is way more advanced I think.

Yep. Royal pieces (knights) are much more interesting.
