2.0L from the Corolla Hatch may have been better. 1.2L feels inadequate to merge with traffic on the highway.

I'll be honest I don't really like the direction all these new SUVs and cars are heading. At first going down from big engines to smaller turbocharged I4 engines was okay.. but now things are getting out of hand, I mean shit a 1.2?... no wonder the thing accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 2 seconds slower than my 10 year old N/A 2.0 Hyundai Tucson. They need to realize there's a point where sacrificing power for fuel economy starts becoming an inconvenience. This vehicle looks so good and aggressive, it looks like it'll blow the doors off your car at a red light, but then you'll probably beat it with a 1990s VW Polo

Need something with more power, get a focus rs or an sti but these things aren't made for racing, I saw it and fell in love with the styling but fell flat on my face when I saw it was a 2.0 for the US and for everyone else was a 1.2?!?! It's getting expensive to go fast but they do this on purpose.
Geez, what an absolute weapon, I hope you wore a neck brace. Next time try the test with that thing fully loaded with a tissue box in the back and one small lettuce, that should knock the edge off, will save you from having to wrestle with the steering.

85kw in a 1400kg car.. I keep thinking this is some kind of bad joke from Toyota. I mean, this is a turbo, and it gets out-accelerated by the 1.8L hybrid. It is slower than a Picanto for Christ sake. Shame on you, Toyota.

Jovan Bethel I wish it was that easy, no point making it a twin just a bigger single but than you need a bigger rad Aka intercooler and plumbing, than a tune, and you would need to run a higher octane of gas, etc...

Putting the 6 speed manual gearbox in there instead of the CVT would decrease the acceleration to 10.5 seconds.
I'm sorry but an 85kW 1.2L with a turbo the size of my fist does not deserve to have a massive 'turbo' badge on it. Please.

Turbo and Koba-san's name on the back, cool! This version is so much nicer than the crap we get in the United States. And, the 2.0L 4-Cylinder in the US is still slow at 10.5 seconds 0-60 mph!
2L Port and Direct Injection should be better than this tiny turbo in terms of durability? This small turbo will be working hard all the time.

Irvan Isaacs that's a small motor for such a large SUV. Plus the CVT transmission doesn't shift (or fake shifts) which takes the fun out of the drive.
Irvan Isaacs a 1987 Corolla AE86 does 0-60 in 10.5 seconds and the NA engine has a very sweet sound for a 4 pot.

What is worse than a CVT gearbox? One that so desperately tries to feel like a normal automatic and "simulates" gear changes
CVTs serve one purpose and one purpose only: getting great mileage. They suck at literally anything else...acceleration, enjoyment, durability, towing, etc... anything other than shuffling you and maybe 2 other people to and from the mall.
@@toyotabrony CVT is terrible it cripless the car in this video, it accelerates almost 2 seconds quicker when fitted with the 6 speed manual.

Shouldn't you actually give some results while vehicle is in normal mode and then some more results while in sport mode?

How is that useless? first off their AWD activates using a magnetic system based on need so not much power is spent, in addition some people live in snowy/rainy areas, we need AWD.

Phenomenal1_Gaming lol ur wrong man. It aimed for everyone. I would legit have this gorgeous C-HR.
The main issue with this is the hideously weak engine, and shocking size of the crossover on the inside. The second row will not fit 2 adults, even children would hate the dark, the boot is also too tiny. This was designed for people who want something edgy and good looking, if you are going up a slope with 2 people in the car it limps, you feel it is under powered for its weight most of the time.
Again, so many people buying these crossover garbage piles because they want room for their families need to be buying vans or wagons, instead of these glorified hatchbacks.
The main issue is the weak CVT gearbox, this engine is a lot better when paired with the 6 speed manual gearbox. I have this engine with a 6 speed manual gearbox in the toyota auris and doesn't limp with the boot fully loaded and 3 people in the car it has no problems with hills at all. It gets maximum Torque at 1500RPM yes the car is lower and lighter than the C-HR but even so the engine is good on fuel and performance. The setup in the car on this video is all wrong.

They really got the engine choice wrong with this car, could of used the Lexus NX 2.0T and downsize it to 1.8 or something.......
Its not the engine choice thats wrong its the transmission, the CVT is rubbish, this engine with a manual transmission is different.
A Hyundai Kona Turbo is heaps faster and better.
