I suspect this guy has been paid by competition to come and say bad things about the car..i love driving mine, the handling is fantastic specially in country roads and so comfortable to drive. I quite like the engine noise when I put the foot down 😊it just comes alive ❤

LOVE, LOVE, my CHR! Bought new in 2019 with 17 miles on the odometer. It just barely turned over to 31,000 in 2024! I have several other vehicle's from luxury down to my CHR. Would definately buy another CHR❣️
Had an 18 plate Excel for the last three years and about to upgrade to a 21 plate excel this week. I absolutely love this car, suits my needs very nicely having driven Yaris' since 2005.... Despite other people's grumbles, the one thing you can guarantee and that's the Toyota quality and reliability... Back in 2005 I was told I would never look back and would always be a Toyota driver. The new C-HR I collect this week will have a further 12 years warranty on the batteries... I plan to get the 5 year HP over, and keep it a further 7 years when I reach retirement at 67, and it will probably keep it beyond that, but then I'll see if there's another car to treat myself to at retirement. The C-HR has given me three years of joy, and I look forward to many more.. Love it..!!
As a CHR owner, i relate to this. Most unliked aspects: visibility ❌and the claustrophobie feeling in the rear seats. Liked: the exterior shape 😎 and the economic fuel consumption. Thx
I’m really surprised to hear this. I’ve just swapped mine for the Yaris Cross as my company car, I absolutely loved this car. Had no issues with it at all. I was sad to see it go back to the lease company.
2022 CH-R XLE 2.0l, I've had it for over a year and I love this car. It's absolutely the best sporty car I've owned. My only downgrade was trunk space, going from an Xterra to this trunk is a big step down.
I love my C-HR I watched this video before buying and i totally disagree with this video. The car has good rear seat room, excellent braking and this car moves! If im being fair, I'd say my only problem with the car was the horn. If you owned a VW, the horn is very nice but they used the horn from the yaris in these cars. Imagine a muscle builder with a tiny man's voice. My second issue would be the lighting inside. The chr came with an all black interior but the dome lights and trunk lights were yellow. I got these switched to while LED lights, the car looks A-M-A-Z-I-N-G with the new lights in. FYI I got the 2019 model made in japan. I was told these are better than the american made ones.
hahah. When it says "depress brake pedal" it means you needs to apply more pressure on the brakes. The word "depress" in the message "Depress Brake Pedal" may seem counterintuitive at first, as it might be more common to say "press" or "apply" the brake pedal. However, in the context of automotive terminology, "depress" is a standard and accepted term for activating or engaging a pedal, particularly the brake pedal. Thats why you was having trouble starting the car!
Perfect car for a couple who don't need crotch goblin / luggage carrying space. C-HR is reliable, safe, comfortable & decent on fuel, I'd advise getting one with the excellent blind spot & rear cross traffic alert safety systems fitted. The adaptive LED headlights available on the higher spec versions are excellent at lighting the road ahead. The JBL audio system is also worth seeking out.
Great car , I have the CH-R (GR Edition ), great milage with a lot of features . For it's size it works for me , blind spot is not an issue my car has 4 cameras .
This video is misleading. In reality, the valid complaints someone can have from CH-R is that 1. it doesn't have the biggest boot -should be bigger- 2. it is not super fast, yes it is not a sports car! (but faster than my 2012 ford focus though) It is the e-cvt feel and way of operation. 3. Yes it can be a bit claustrophobic at the back. ...and that's it. All the rest you 're referring to is nonsense. Built quality is excelent. I can make 3.8-4.0 l/100km (72-75 mpg) driving in the city, without over trying. It corners superbly, it handles amazingly, it rides over bumbs amazingly, it is such a smoot, comfort ride. The noise of the thermal engine is minimal, it is just that is so quite when it is going electric that you notice it. But to be honest I can barely hear mine... Up to 120-130 on the motorway is silent after that yes you hear some noise if you are such a sad person and driving without music on. I have the JBL version with a woofer on the back and the sound is superb! My infotainment system is updated by Toyota (Greece) for free and it contains maps and it is not slugish at all. My battery guarantee has been extended to 11 years. My basic service (check, oil, filters) is dead cheap. I do not believe only 29% would buy again.
We have this car,in the USA,talk about an awesome little car on the interstate in Atlanta Ga,It navigated the traffic and at 80 miles per hour it was so nimble and accelerated for easy passing, We had a huge glass 35 gal glass Aquarium and stand in the storage area, the car is also great in mountain curves .very stable. The braking is good, and the mirrors alerted us if there was another vehicle along side of us so that the blind spots were no issue.I love this little car. I would buy it again.
I still got my 2017 and i never wanted to replace it because so far i never had any issues at all. Internal space wise i am 5’5” so it does suits me well, when travelling away for camping i install roof bars. No problem at all. So far so good. Fingers crossed.
My only complaint with C-HRs (I've had two now) is the lack of equipment compared to other, often cheaper, cars. The shape I think is its biggest selling point, and the ride quality is nice enough and it's a really lovely car to drive (for an SUV), but I just picked up the newest Nissan Juke Hybrid and the level of equipment on that makes the C-HR look very very basic now.
I have the similar 2 litre P711 hybrid drive Lexus UX 250h. It does 0-60 in 7 seconds and returns just over 53.5 MPG. Its quiet, smooth and comfy. Its big on the outside and small on the inside! Most modern cars are like this for safety.
I have a 2020 I wouldn't sell for a million dollars. Best car I've ever had and I always have new cars. I'm 58 and this might just be the last car I'll ever need. Gonna see how many miles I can put on her. May take a while..I'm retired and only drive about 8k a year.
I have a pre owned 2019 (2018 model) I love it. Only thing is no Apple CarPlay but I can get that fixed easily enough. Comfortable drive and nothing to dislike really
I think your missing the point, Admittedly mines the 2 litre and that can shift. It's style over substance, just as it was meant to be. I rarely carry rear passengers. It's not aimed at the average family man. It was basically a concept that went into production. the way to drive it properly is to accelerate and keep the power meter just on the edge of the power/ economy band and let it pick it's pace, floor it and you just waste fuel and the power unit sounds harsh.
I see what you mean. I think one issue is that many people bought the car for the style and just assumed it would do all the practical stuff simply because it’s a Toyota and then were surprised when it didn’t, which contributed to the results in the survey.
I personally think you made this car sound so bad when it isn't bad at all. This car for me is a joy and I'm an owner who understands that there is no perfect car which fits budget, performance and practicality at the same time. Every car we own has its bells and whistles which makes most of us change to different car models when time comes. Although I'm really surprised a lot of people (in C-HR groups) have kept faith in the C-HR and replaced theirs with another C-HR. Fascinating.
I used my first 2019 1.8 Hybrid CHR for almost 5 years (72.000km) Obviously I never had NOTHING issues with it. I just replaced it to the new generation, I’ll see how it will be the quality. What I can tell, it is a huge upgrade the 2.0 PHEV with adaptive suspension and almost double the horsepower related to the old 1.8 Hybrid. Both of them are with Excel package, but the new have included front sport sits, 360 camera, panoramic glass roof, UV protected windows, remote the car from your phone, much better led lamps, and a lot more driver guidance.
I rented one while driving around Ireland. My first impression was, it looked like a stubby toe. But then I sat in the drivers seat, truley the most comfortable seat I ever sat in. This car impressed me so much that if I was to buy a new car, I would give it serious consideration!❤❤❤
I love this car for being CHR itself. Not try to be sporty like its look, not try to be specious like it's called. And the fact that this is the start of the new era of Toyota design shift from oldy to younger generation. Designer team as I know from England studio, put every detail on this car and I can feel every part of this car is specially designed. not like other model that copy from the other model in the line up and paste to the newer model. This is one of the first TNGA platform and Toyota really focus. One more thing. This car is developed from the concept to be a real mass production car. what else do you expect? how many concept cars developed to be sold really in real life? This CHR design is special. What's not so special to some hater because they don't fit to CHR design concept. They prefer bigger cabin, brighter cabin, more powerful engine...Which this CHR doesn't meant to be.
This cars surely crashed into him personally on a few occasions, there’s no way you dislike THIS much of the car 😂 , and if you can’t fit in the back just saw your legs off mr 6 foot 1
I love chr. There's no problem with this car. The problem is with your perception and what you are looking for. Tbh, it's one of the best selling car in NZ atm. Also the best car I have ever owned.❤
I love this car ???? as a Senior would love it in a Convertible model......brakes are fantastic ... and has the race car feel......senior Lady 79....also its shape and design....only thing should have 4 wheel drive and automatic trunk opening and closing.. Love this car first new car I have ever driven..its a winner........
This review is really accurate. I agree with most of the observations he makes. Got rid of mine after a year. Not only a boring car but it broke down after 6 months & was in for repair for 6 weeks. Useless piece of metal.
Coming back a whole 7 days later? I must be good. And I see the unnecessary comment RUclips deemed too inappropriate to publish here. So I’ll say this. You’re shit at playing the guitar. Stick to reviewing bike lights pussy
I've got it as a courtesy car and I can't believe the lack of space inside. It looks way bigger on the outside, there's so much more space in my 2015 ford focus I really can't believe it ...
Surprisingly, this car is sharing too much thing with AE86, even if it not looks like that. Its chief engineer Hiroyuki Kobayashi says the same. It's an handling and grip masterpiece but with a terrible 1.8l atkinson cycle spiritless engine. It's like designed to be a high ride coupe sportcar but in the last minute updated as a hybrid family car. Toyota should offer upgrade packages from 1.8l to 2.0l 😅 The best thing about this car is very comfortable soft springs but still agile on handling, plus premium level sound insulation, and also ultra reliable with low consumption. Actually if you don't like it, you can't like prius or corolla as well. Basically 3 of them are almost the same car.
He is talking rubbish. I have one and my wife has one. We both love it. It's a pleasure to drive CHR. I am waiting for new models arrival next year to change the cars.
We just took delivery of our third CHR , and i cant agree with anything this guy said. Its stylish with great economy and ultra reliable. 1.8 dynamic 2.0 orange edition And 2.0 GR series
I am an owner of this model and therefore driving experience, in summary it is zeer comfortable, smooth road contact & steering and relaxing for touring longer distance or city trips even when driving on the German highway the performance where above my expectations, im impressed about the design but agree the smaller space in the back(what is not relevant for us) other and more serious negative issues are the back door is limited to open due to a small angle and the rear windows are too high and provide poor visibility
Denmark/ Owned a RAV4 for years til I closed my Self Employed business ....then the Danish government stuck a 1400£ /YEAR Green Tax on my diesel RAV4 😞 Bought a Yaris.....good car... But I still look for a larger Toyota....RAV4 changed style to Large and Luxurious..crap. Been to the dealer a couple of times looking at the models. The C-HR was the most comfortable, but the styling is crap as you say, and I hate to try to pass with a dog of an engine. I'm waiting for Toyota to put some comport into the Yaris Cross and then I may buy. Thanks for the review.
I am not just NOT regreting, but inam actually buying new model this year cause CHR is best car i ever had (and i has also bmw and audi in past).. love it a LOT ..
Hmm. I am not sure how many of the downsides would really be downsides for me … I drive a smaller Toyota car now, my second, and am thinking about a C-HR PHEV next time around. This has not really changed my mind, though it does maybe give a little bit to think about.
if u need (rely on) a reverse camera to aid you for reversing. seriously time for you to brush up your skillset. also @5:32 not as if you able to heel toe technique on a automatic 😅.
I drove a very new Corolla hybrid recently and had same issues. Noisy CVT gearbox, lots of road noise (Excel) and Stereo was shite. Very disappointed. Pushy and slightly smug salesman tried to talk me in to buying it with BS comments like 'The road noise will fade away in time, you wont notice it' and 'Is the stereo really that important?' Er yes!
Just have ours over a month. Traded in a VW Tiguan for a 2021 CHR. Absolutely amazing car, great driving thing and solid. Love the hybrid system. I don't agree with these statements at all from the video
For someone who claims to review cars. The reason you 'had' to put the key next to the start button is because the keyless start was possibly disabled. Also since launch these are everywhere. The plug in pruis is the one that claims over 200mpg. Seriously get your facts together properly. The GR sport has tighter suspension and is a good drive and tight round the corners compared to the dynamic which was my previous model.
Since a bus smashed into the rear of my BMW X3 a couple of days ago I got this one in the meantime. Parking the Toyota is a nightmare. You just get no feeling where the front but also the sides end. It is nuts. Never had this in more then twenty years. Much bigger cars (latest Audi A6 or the Skoda Superb eg.) were ways easier to handle than this one.
What's your version? My version is the Square and it has sensors at front and rear. It doesn't allow you to crash the rear, since it stops the car for you prior to reach the obstacle. I believe the Comfort series has no sensors, but take a look at your settings if it's another version. This car is the easiest thing to drive and park. And, believe me, my garage is the smallest you can imagine. I only have some centimeters to park and never had issues with it.
@@sinfoniasdeaco5959 The version was called "Germany Edition" and was pretty well equipped with parking sensors and a reversing camera. The problem here was parking forwards in a narrow garage. In my garage, literally every centimeter counts and makes the difference as to whether the driver's door can still be opened or not. You probably won't believe it, but it really is much easier to navigate the X3 into the garage than the Toyota because the dimensions (although larger) of the BMW are much easier to judge.
I don't worry about the backseat space as I drive in the front. So no problem, so don't understand why people who drive these have an issue with it. But yes the engine noise is the only reason I'm not happy with mine.
Compared to lets say a Prius3 how easy or difficult is it to get in and out of the car? Are the front seats higher rhen in a Prius3? Can an eldely person easily get in and out of the car?

Blind spots nearly caught me out a couple of times, so much more observant now. Otherwise a great car.
Bought 2019 hybrid for my wife for city driving..55mpg in city is perfect. Even on longer journey I never seen the mpg under 50. Wud buy again defo
I suspect this guy has been paid by competition to come and say bad things about the car..i love driving mine, the handling is fantastic specially in country roads and so comfortable to drive. I quite like the engine noise when I put the foot down 😊it just comes alive ❤
2020 chr owner here, the only thing we wish it had is the push button to close the boot. We love it to bits!
I bought a 2021 model used car but before buying I don’t know about this car performance and comfort but now I’m very much satisfied with the performance and mileage.super amazing performance, it’s my one of the best car so far.Toyota shows the quality and ability…..
LOVE, LOVE, my CHR!
Bought new in 2019 with 17 miles on the odometer. It just barely turned over to 31,000 in 2024! I have several other vehicle's from luxury down to my CHR. Would definately buy another CHR❣️
I bought a CHR recently and I love it.
Everyone has their point of view.
That's not true at all. Most people who buy the chr, love it. I don't know where you got your stats from 🤷🏿♂️
From ConsumerReports.org as said in the video. I don’t make up random data
Love it..!!
I appear to be in the 29% because after almost 7 years' fantastic ownership, our new 2024 model will be delivered in a few days' time.
Why didn’t I think of this! I’m so silly!
I’ve owned this car for A year & I love it, best car I’ve ever had and driven, I don’t know what this guys going on about.
Same.
Great car , I have the CH-R (GR Edition ), great milage with a lot of features . For it's size it works for me , blind spot is not an issue my car has 4 cameras .
This video is misleading.
In reality, the valid complaints someone can have from CH-R is that
1. it doesn't have the biggest boot -should be bigger-
2. it is not super fast, yes it is not a sports car!
I got the CHR 2.0 dynamic. Brilliant car. All the mod cons and retuns around 50-55 mpg. 👍
WADR, I couldn't disagree more. We've had three of these and it's a great car!
well i think the cabin is a little cramped but overall its a great car and i am really enjoying driving it
I still got my 2017 and i never wanted to replace it because so far i never had any issues at all.
What does the Juke have, that this one hasn't?
@@Ghostrex101Apple car play, ambient lighting, leather seats, Bose sound system, heated seats!
Bought mine in 2021. I love it!! Scratching my head over this review
Think that’s dandruff
I have a 2020 I wouldn't sell for a million dollars. Best car I've ever had and I always have new cars. I'm 58 and this might just be the last car I'll ever need. Gonna see how many miles I can put on her. May take a while..I'm retired and only drive about 8k a year.
the car its just great, i love it,the desing, the pedals, brakes, seats, entertainment system...all is great!!!
I have a pre owned 2019 (2018 model) I love it. Only thing is no Apple CarPlay but I can get that fixed easily enough. Comfortable drive and nothing to dislike really
I’ve had one for 3 years from new.great car no problem getting the new 2.0 in 2024 can’t wait to get the new one
Sorry dude but I love this car ❤ no doubts about it 😊
No need to apologise! We all have different likes and tastes 😁
1.8L is good, just put your foot on the accelerator and push …
I LOVE the rear of this car, that’s one of my fav
You have nailed how to drive this car. Exactly how I drive mine. I love my CH-R,
I used my first 2019 1.8 Hybrid CHR for almost 5 years (72.000km)
Obviously I never had NOTHING issues with it.
I'm astounded. I've had one for 7 years and I still love it.
After nearly 2 years I still love my 2022 CHR GR sport. It's used as a secondary car in my household.
I only crash into deers 😌😌😂😂
I love chr. There's no problem with this car. The problem is with your perception and what you are looking for. Tbh, it's one of the best selling car in NZ atm. Also the best car I have ever owned.❤
You asked the wring people, almost 6 years in we love this car,it is so nimble on the Atlanta interstates.
The start battery won't hold charge is my only gripe.
Where I live, this model has great resale value. It’s very popular with the younger generation. So, your assessment is more geographical.
This review is really accurate. I agree with most of the observations he makes. Got rid of mine after a year. Not only a boring car but it broke down after 6 months & was in for repair for 6 weeks. Useless piece of metal.
I own this car, and am about to trade up to the new 2024 version. It's a great vehicle.
We just bought one … and we love it! 🥰
The Best Car I ever had…
Coming back a whole 7 days later? I must be good. And I see the unnecessary comment RUclips deemed too inappropriate to publish here. So I’ll say this. You’re shit at playing the guitar. Stick to reviewing bike lights pussy
Shtty content & attitude to match.
on my second CHR , the money i have saved on petrol is unbelievable. Love the car and will be buying another.
I've got it as a courtesy car and I can't believe the lack of space inside. It looks way bigger on the outside, there's so much more space in my 2015 ford focus I really can't believe it ...
You're just bitter because you can't afford one 😂😂
You stick to your crapy old focus mate.
Basically 3 of them are almost the same car.
very accurate🙏🏽
He is talking rubbish. I have one and my wife has one. We both love it. It's a pleasure to drive CHR. I am waiting for new models arrival next year to change the cars.
I love my C-HR too.
We just took delivery of our third CHR , and i cant agree with anything this guy said. Its stylish with great economy and ultra reliable.
1.8 dynamic
2.0 orange edition
And 2.0 GR series
Your supposed to keep your foot on the brake when starting?
our wind noise is insane on highway like if a window is open , compared to glk we have previously
Thx for that video. I owe one and was afraid there were an issue that I overlooked. I know now there is no and I'm still happy with that car.
You are most welcome
Love mine , 2.0 getting 50 plus and no complaints
New subscriber here...all the best for your channel..keep making these kind of videos
I suppose you hate the new shape as well. People look out for these cars second hand as well. Good resale values so that speaks volumes
Denmark/ Owned a RAV4 for years til I closed my Self Employed business ....then the Danish government stuck a 1400£ /YEAR Green Tax on my diesel RAV4 😞
Bought a Yaris.....good car... But I still look for a larger Toyota....RAV4 changed style to Large and Luxurious..crap. Been to the dealer a couple of times looking at the models.
The C-HR was the most comfortable, but the styling is crap as you say, and I hate to try to pass with a dog of an engine. I'm waiting for Toyota to put some comport into the Yaris Cross
and then I may buy. Thanks for the review.
Prius 200 miles per gallon. Bro.are you talking about prius Prime ???
I am not just NOT regreting, but inam actually buying new model this year cause CHR is best car i ever had (and i has also bmw and audi in past).. love it a LOT ..
Hmm. I am not sure how many of the downsides would really be downsides for me … I drive a smaller Toyota car now, my second, and am thinking about a C-HR PHEV next time around. This has not really changed my mind, though it does maybe give a little bit to think about.
I’m satisfied with my CHR 2020 model. But if your looking negative of course you can find? But it’s you to satisfy.
Beautiful words to live by. Thank you Socrates.
if u need (rely on) a reverse camera to aid you for reversing. seriously time for you to brush up your skillset. also @5:32 not as if you able to heel toe technique on a automatic 😅.
i live my chr only one thing i dont like is the fact that i cannot change my fron light without taking off the front bumper
In addition, I plan to try the new juke soon...
Just have ours over a month. Traded in a VW Tiguan for a 2021 CHR. Absolutely amazing car, great driving thing and solid. Love the hybrid system. I don't agree with these statements at all from the video
Love the car since I have it, from 2020. Now thinking to buy the new CHR model, but I'm just not decided yet.
Actually, this man waffling to get more views and comments.
I own CHR no issue with parking. It's.super easy to park
Those figures are absolute rubbish...the C-HR is a beautiful car...I should know, I'm on my second one in 6 years 👍
Just bought one yesterday and it's very satisfying
I love my CH-R
I don't worry about the backseat space as I drive in the front. So no problem, so don't understand why people who drive these have an issue with it.
But yes the engine noise is the only reason I'm not happy with mine.
Toyota makes very good cars they are up there for most reliable cars
Compared to lets say a Prius3 how easy or difficult is it to get in and out of the car?
Are the front seats higher rhen in a Prius3?
Can an eldely person easily get in and out of the car?
Had mine for 5 years now. Its a great car.
This is his opinion. Not fact
I have the same car and I love and proud when walk to may car
