I've had my "Diamond" for 2.5 wks now and OMC, I'm in ❤️!!! I've had no problems with power or blind spots. I love the safety features, and the seats. I've had so many looks and questions from random peeps. Certainly an eye catcher. My only complaints would be the Toyota Link app. It's tricky to download. Also the talk button feature can be twitchy. I don't have any issues with the head unit besides that though.
That Yellow paint with the Black roof looks KILLER ! Love the looks of this small SUV. Now a turbo engine lowered suspension and TRD exhaust would be dope !
Love how the North American version lacks the nice color combinations, Led tail lights, led headlights, newer head unit, leather seating option. I just don't understand how Toyota could think it's cheaper to manufacture different versions of the same parts instead of making them all the same. I'd buy the car in a heartbeat if they would add leather option, some engine options (US only gets a 2.0 i4 that doesn't even sport direct injection) and ditch the bloody incandescent taillights. Really kills the sporty look in the back.
I completely agree with you. I've been looking for a small SUV to commute with daily in NYC and this crossover really has everything I've been looking for in terms of pricing, reliability and just a simple everyday commute. I am one of those younger more image cautious people and this would have been my first Toyota. but now..I'm leaning towards not purchasing a CH-R because of the lack in options. I wouldn't mind paying for options such as leather, awd, heated seats, I could do without the nav but they can throw that option in there. I do appreciate the automatic windows and and blind spot monitor system and the automatic key entry is a nice plus. But seeing the Euro Spec CH-R vs the US Spec CH-R really makes me not want the US Spec one. Untill Toyota does something about the current options I will not be purchasing one. Same goes for an uncle of mine who just purchased a RAV4 and likes the design of the CH-R.
totally agree dude, and even so, i hope toyota gonna add sunroof, power seat and 360 cam to this chr, that should be perfect. Maybe have more options on engine, i dont think 2.0 i4 or 1.2 turbo can stay alive in canada, holy cow. At least, i need 1.5 turbo, same as Civic tho.
So he says the engine does not have enough power, the trans is no good, the rear visibility is terrible, the steering wheel is too low, the drivers seat is too high, the noise in the cabin is too loud, but overall he likes it!
The chassis is excellent - the ride is great, the handling is good. Plus it looks great. I can forgive the visibility and not quite right driving position. That engine and trans tho.... Still the good really outweighs the not so good. RB
Hey Richard, next time you're testing a car's uphill performance in Wallace Street Marrickville, don't forget to do a rollback. For those that don't know what a rollback is, it's when you drive the car halfway up the street, then stop the car in the middle of the road, put the gearbox in neutral, release the brake and let the car roll backwards until it reaches a speed of at least 20 kph, press and hold in clutch, select first gear, rev and hold the engine revs to redline, drop the clutch and keep the foot on the accelerator pedal. You can possibly do this in a car fitted with an auto transmission, but I wouldn't recommended.
Ha! Oh crikey, sorry it's a good hill and no other incline in the area exposes the weakness of a drivetrain and traction capabilities quite like Wallace Street. As for the rollback, I'd never be so careless to give that a go ; ) Richard Berry
Come on mate, live a little he he. That's how my friends and I use to test all our car's drivetrain. That street was well known for doing roll backs. We even named it "Roll back street" back in the good ol fun days. I'm sure the neighbours from back then don't miss us lol.
Very nice review. Entertaining and informative. I like that he didn't spend so much time talking ab the engine and transmission. Nothing irritates me more than when a journalist states power outputs of economy cars. Like who cares about 130hp?!
I test drove it and while its CVT was better than Nissan and Kia, CVT needs more frequent maintenance and is less reliable. I loved the C-HR design but it really needs more power. I heard that a manual transmission is offered outside of the US which would have encouraged me to consider it. Ideally, it needs the Camry's 2.5 litre engine and needs a manual transmission version and a sunroof, and Apple Carplay.
But it does have a small suv... the Rav 4 is one of the best in its class, helped lead the way over a decade ago.... love your funny role playing though! I am SOOOOOO curious about this ride- I heard the Euro version has AWD available .... I want one! :P
RAV4 is anything but small these days, it was when it was first launched. Hence why CHR, Corolla cross and Yaris cross launched. There’s a huge gap with great demand in those smaller segments
We are empty nesters (but not old and stooped) and have had lots of new Corollas for many years. We have just ordered a C-HR over the new Corolla. Why? It has a higher seating position, more features in the base model and seemed to be more practical. Umm, did not notice the reverse park vision, ooops, so hopefully we get used to that. We gave it some welly on the M1and it was fine.
alright, great review style and video, and you're funner than DeMuro, so I'm giving you a follow. You better be doing reviews for this channel, no one else.
In Canada we have 2.4L with 150hp and it goes ok aside from back door darkness there are no issues with it, but we wish it would come with AWD here, oh well
I think it's a 2.0-litre you get in Canada - but it's still a much more powerful engine than the 85kW/114hp 1.2-litre we get in Australia. Quite jealous ; ) RB
Vintage Eagle Tell those idiot Honda fans always critized how Toyota copy them. Toyota made the concepts first then Honda took the idea. Well here is the answer.
No i think the trend of the tail light was started by Proton with their Gen2 later with their Persona which comes out 5 years earlier than the Civic FB.
Just discovered your channel and great video. Will give you a sub. You mention the reversing visibility but with a camera and door mirrors why on earth would you look over your shoulder. Even with thinner pillars you won’t see as well as you will with a camera, or the curb in the mirror.
Nice car! Looks beautiful outside and inside but it doesn't have that power that a SUV should have, I took it out for a test drive last week, it's smooth, no sound but I wish it had more HP and bit quicker
the 1.8L Hybrid better model than 1.2L Turbo unless the turbo swap for bigger one with some forged internal and remap ecu tune, provided the CVT can keep up and hold up....
An AWD and a peppier engine would definitely give it more appeal. Now it´s just a taller Yaris with quirky looks... but hey, that´s what people like...
Youthfull stylish car . I love it's crazy design that makes toyota contomporary car producer and very responsive for youngers demands. People who deslike some of CHR design like its small back window etc can go to buy Rav4 that fit them and let this modern and lovable car desighn for youngers and teengers who have cruch on it. Keep it up toyota and never transform this stylish CHR to normal poor RAV4 ^^
Koba is actually one of Joseph Stalin's nicknames. His closest friends used to call him like that, like president Mikhail Kalinin or marshal Kliment Voroshilov.
I saw it from my Passat's Syncro g60 driver point of view: " August 2017 #19 vs Toyota C-HR Going, loosely, at home, having 100 kgr load into the trunk, saw suddenly this new Toyota flashing lights. The road, a challenging one, mentioned in my previous stories, since, usually, is traffic free with two rows per direction, having a wide islet in the middle, and with very few and insignificant side crossroads. But, most importantly, is an uphill road, so many drivers, rather unintentionally, are trying to check their drives. It is very interesting and exciting, for sure, to be in a shiny new car, with all the late fancy technology. Now if the same feelings persist after you have met a 25 years old car, which you don't know exactly what it is, apart the VW emblem, is questionable. You see, flashing your lights at this geriatric VW, in order to free this wide and challenging road to check your new car, going uphill, you have the feeling that something is wrong, your car cannot follow, and most importantly, in a few minutes the geriatric, (according to your opinion), old thing, is far-far away in the front of you, at the top of the low hill, having no hope to catch any more. (But you cannot follow, at least, even with the highway blues, because your SUV is not a real SUV, is not a 4wd car. You see, when you bought it, the hipsters didn't know what it is or what to do with the 4wd. That's why there are now manufacturers which produce SUVs without 4wd at all, not even as an option!). With 1320 kgr. (about), and 140 hp at most, (best case scenario, at least for the moment), there was, really, no chance, even me having 100 kgr, extra load into the trunk. love it but I don't like how small it feels in the rear ..and how high you are and how the steering wheel is positioned..im as tall as you ..ill get mad and sell it right away lol
So glad it has four doors.... that means it will qualify as a ride share ride :) make it all the more worth it.... I’d LOVE to pick up my passengers in that ride 😍✨ so gorgeous!
Your old man is wise and it would have been much more preferable if Australia got the 2.0-litre engine, but the 1.2 is grunty and produces 185Nm of torque which is plenty. It all depends on what you'll use it for - if you're planning to load it up all the time with people and cargo that'll weigh it down and make it work hard, then I'd suggest something else. A Hyundai Kona could be the way to go - these a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.0 petrol. Both a great. Hope that helps, cheers Richard
I don't know what snow you are talking about but I have driven a Corolla, Volvo, Porsche and Celica - all of which had less power and torque - to the snow, and never had a problem loaded up with 3 people and gear for a week.
I'm not really into car reviews but this guy really knows how to keep someone engaged. Well Played Sir!

You're fantastic.
Great review.

Yeah, put a Toyota 86 drivetrain in it - that'd go off RB
This is the best video ever out from this channel
Thank you. RB
This is my favourite C-HR review, and I've pretty much watched them all.
Only a month until I get mine now. 👍🏻😁👍🏻

Bro you are on another level 💪
Your first describe and impression was speechless
You have created an unique vibe
What a brilliant presentation, you nailed it man!
Due to the popularity of the Toyota C-HR worldwide, there is currently about a 4 month delivery waiting time for this car in Australia.
it surprisingly sells really quickly... saw 2 in penrith, and 2 in peter warren. the next day tho, they were both sold....
best car review so far in 2017
Thanks Benjamin!
agree. Love your review
You guys got ripped off for an engine. Our version here in Canada comes with a 2.0L 144HP VVT-i engine. Works on hills just fine.
What a review. Very well prepared. You're an upcoming talent. Keep on producing this kind of content.
Awww, you're too kind, thank you. RB
Hey Carpe diem, I think you'll like my Jeep Compass review which went up a couple of weeks ago. Richard Berry

thank you mate. i enjoyed this review. almost like a little car tv show on it's own

Hey, I'm getting this car soon and I'm on my Red P, is this card P plate legal to drive??

I wish I get this color combination for my Toyota
I love ❤️ the color and design, beautiful 💕 great for small people.
I LOVE those door handles
why C-HR use previous generation infotament system???
i like the feel you talk really comfortable
they better put something soft pillow like thing on the door curve so it can function as side head rest...than just blocking the view
I am not sure you are correct with Toyota being the second biggest car maker in the world. Toyota is bigger than Volkswagen at the moment I think.
Volkswagen overtook Toyota in January 2017 as the world's biggest car maker. RB
This is not hybride ? Just petrol powered ?
The car and the host 😀✌✌
A decent review 👏

You make the review lovely
To me it's not a small cuv if it doesn't have awd. Like it says it's just a big hatchback.
There is an AWD version, too. RB
Beautiful reporting I loved it.
Thanks Rahul. RB
Very cool review!
So glad it has four doors.... that means it will qualify as a ride share ride :) make it all the more worth it.... I’d LOVE to pick up my passengers in that ride 😍✨ so gorgeous!
Leah, I reckon it's pretty darned gorgeous too. You may have to tell your passengers where the door handles are hiding though ; ) Richard Berry
Needs a 1.6 turbo
If I could take the engine and dual-clutch auto out of the Kona and put it in the C-HR - that'd be perfect. RB
very nice make it bigger i love it
doesn't australia have the rav4, thats a small suv
That car is beautiful!!!!
It's the hero colour combination - you shouldn't have any trouble getting one just like this. RB
Bad ass introduction !
Hell yeah, glad you like it dude RB
Help: I want to buy one, but my old man reckons the motor is too small and will have issues in the future. Is he right ? Or trying to deter me. Lol.
Your old man is wise and it would have been much more preferable if Australia got the 2.0-litre engine, but the 1.2 is grunty and produces 185Nm of torque which is plenty. It all depends on what you'll use it for - if you're planning to load it up all the time with people and cargo that'll weigh it down and make it work hard, then I'd suggest something else. could u preview... FJ 2017...it's look impressive....!!!!
I would buy one if I could get a hybrid one that gets 50 mpg. Here in the United States
while we all whine and moan about all its issues, Mr Toyota is counting his millions looking at the record sales !!!
we are trading in our old car and only paying little for this car, i was thinking of getting this color im just driving from school to home
This is a beauty. Bring it to kingston, jamaica. I just wish it had more horsepower. This lady loves to drive...
Nikki Andy girl you sound like somebody mi can touch road wid.
I love the design. Oh btw I'm male. But hi fellow Jamaican ;)
I was sold on the Ford Ecosport until I saw this C-HR!
The colour combinations are cool, too. I saw one last week that was black with a white roof. Cheers Richard Berry
I hope they make a larger version with a diesel engine.
Does this car have apple car play?
nice review. i would consider that car up until i heard 85kw
Um yeah... 85kW is a bit wussy. RB
Put 2.0 turbo and 6 speed auto transmission from lexus nx.
Hell yes.. That would be great. Richard Berry
I notice the infotainment system has a volume knob. Good work Toyota. Too bad the engine is too weak to take to the snow.
I don't know what snow you are talking about but I have driven a Corolla, Volvo, Porsche and Celica - all of which had less power and torque - to the snow, and never had a problem loaded up with 3 people and gear for a week.
