Cancelo fan here but we have to face the facts. Floyd is Floyd. The best in the history. He won that fight with ease. Nothing about being young or inexperienced. Floyd is simply too good.
Yeah it was his first Super Fight. It's another stage in Boxing when you start getting into super fights. Those top draw huge PPV fights. It was Floyd Mayweathers' experience that got him the victory against a 23 year old Saul Alvarez. All kinds of stuff happens different in the weeks and months leading up to a fight at that level. You have to know how to handle all that stuff to have your A game on fight night. Floyd Mayweather even talked about it himself when the promotion for the fight was happening. It's where I learned of this. Also Saul went pro at age 15 so of course he had 43 fights.
What a person that has never laced up and trained don't seem to know, are understand is that this guy mayweather was a very disciplined clean fighter, boxer. Meaning he never drank, at all nor smoked, anything. If you don't no a lot of athletes do have drinks and even smoke but will stop when it's time to train. Its not many other boxers that's as clean a boxer as mayweather. Bernard Hopkins was another guy that was very clean. He boxed at a high level too because of that. Canelo basically didn't have no amateur career. So you'd have to combine mayweather amateur career as well as his professional boxing career. These are facts. Not taking a side. Just putting things in perspective. But My opinion is that what mayweather is leaving out is canelo really was compared to mayweather ,in experienced. If he mentioned that canelo went pro at 16 devin Haney even went pro early to get some monies. Floyd is the son and nephew to prize fighters. That means something. Look how Crawford is ducking Boots. Know why, Boots has pedigree when you grow up in a home with a father that was a professional boxer and then 2 big brothers that were professional boxers you will get it so much easier. If you don't box living in a house hold like that you'd still be above average if you had a fight with guys that don't have that. That's the reason Virgil Ortiz Daddy said his son can't are shouldn't fight Boots for 4 or 5 years. Porter, Shawn Porter Daddy wouldn't allow his son with a belt at the time fight Boots. You can find this. Porter dad is on a video telling the story how him and Bozy are cool, know each other well. But wouldn't. This is before Jaron even had 20 fights. Boots is another guy like canelo but still had more of an amateur career than canelo Boot had less than 60 amateur fights. That's low ,trust Me for guys that go on to have respectable professional boxing career.
Old white media used that excuse that Kid Clembuterol was inexperienced. To tell you the truth, Pretty boy Floyd would have murked him. Money Mayweather just took him to school.
They fr forgot that they begged floyd to fight him. Now its "Oh well he wasn't in his prime". Neither was floyd. His hands were messed up and he was old
Plain and simple Floyd was too damn good for anyone at that time. Also, canelo didn’t ask to fight him, Floyd offered canelo the fight 2 years before which they declined. At 23 they felt ready to fight Floyd and lost , even canelos team admitted that Floyd is too smart in the ring.
@@theentrepreneur607 yeah… though if you watch the “ all access “ May/Alv on show time. They we’re literally saying “ the new king is here” Oscar talkin out of his ass “ I handled the Mayweather play book to Canelo”. Then all the sudden he was a child.
Think about it. No other fighter would ever have the guts to even fight Floyd at 23. Everyone protects their record now. & The catchweight is another thing people don’t ever mention.
To be fair, Canelo's amateur/olympic career was not as expansive as Floyd's. I would think most people use the word "inexperienced" to describe his lack of high-quality opponents compared to Floyd at the time rather than *just* quantity. The number of fights at age 23 doesn’t mean much since he was fighting very low level fighters and just padding his record. It's disingenuous for Floyd to spin it that way, but that’s just what he does lol. We all know any version of Floyd at 147-154 would shut out the best version of Canelo 99/100 times anyway
I disagree, floyd got hurt by a maidana.. got hurt by Mosley .. got knockdown by judah.. he can get caught. Let’s be honest if they fought at 167 both at 30 canelo would get a knockout by round 8
@@jvoo4795But he never said 168, dummy. He said 154, which is the weight floyd stopped fighting at. And being hurt by those fighters mean nothing. Canelo could not even hurt Floyd in their first fight, and canelo had just bested austin trout 5 months prior. Also, canelo ALWAYS struggles with pure boxers. Canelo lacks footwork, his feat are slow, he has no jab, as seen in the bivol & erislandy lara fight, he only beats people imposinh his power against fighters on the ropes, that fight style does not work against someone like Floyd Mayweather, who has a masterful jab, amazing footwork able to maneuver away from the ropes, and also box off of the back foot & front foot. He beat canelo in every category in their fight. And i am going to be frank with you, canelo has not changed much since his loss to Floyd, in terms of skill. Aside from lara, ggg, shane mosely, miguel cotto & bivol, his conpetition just got worst. Which is why he looks like he can just beat anyone, which is not true. Canelo was badly schooled by bivol just using a simple jab, cross. Floyd beats canelo every single time😁😁😁
NOT ONLY WAS FLOYD OVER THE HILL WHEN HE BEAT CANELO, HE WAS FIGHTING SEVERAL DIVISIONS OVER HIS BEST FIGHTING WEIGHT! Mayweather was at his absolute BEST when he was 130-140 pounds (between junior lightweight to junior welterweight). He got slower at welterweight due to the additional pounds and advanced age,and then moved up to the JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT division at age THIRTY SIX to fight the “great Mexican fighter” Canelo Alvarez, and beat him easily!

Looking at it another way, and be honest; can you imagine the type of criticism Floyd would have gotten if he had refused to fight Canelo because he was too young and inexperienced (2-time world champion, 44-0)?
@PhilGood365 no timing is everything, floyd knows when to and when not to, he was getting criticism anyways but money isnt everything it's the only thing, trust me when i say this, canelo was just a very good up and comer, until he lost to floyd he's eyes opened to alot, made him better but I still think floyd is a better boxer, he just didn't fight the best version of canelo, only a young great up and comer

Inexperienced is crazy… He just hadn’t experienced FLOYD MONEY MAY!!
The world has always hated unequivocal Black greatness.

NOT ONLY WAS FLOYD OVER THE HILL WHEN HE BEAT CANELO, HE WAS FIGHTING SEVERAL DIVISIONS OVER HIS BEST FIGHTING WEIGHT! He got slower at welterweight due to the additional pounds and advanced age,and then moved up to the JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT division at age THIRTY SIX to fight the “great Mexican fighter” Canelo Alvarez, and beat him easily!
