I really like Bob Evans sausage.
I think that the taste is so much better than other brands.

That's the food I grew up eating at my grandparents farm in North Carolina. When they killed hogs or a chicken no parts were wasted. Miss that food now.

All prices of things you need around the holidays have gone up.
About the only things that you can get on sale are turkeys and hams.
They are still so much higher that even 5 years ago.
I went to Walmart to get cinnamon, apple pie spice, and pumpkin pie spice.
They were all over $2.50 each.
But the rest of daily spices were a dollar.
    Talk about price gouging.
    It's totally ridiculous.

hi, chris. wow. i guess some foods are expensive because holidays increase the demand and people are willing to pay for them. i hope they are delicious and you enjoy them. we need to figure out what we are doing for christmas. my dil will be in canada so it's just my son & me. he works acute care so not sure of his schedule. i've been wanting to make sauerbraten but looking for a gf recipe. we'll see. ham would be much easier. have a wonderful day.

Hi Uncle Chris, my mom says that when they first got together, my mom and dad that I should have said that. I realize that I didn’t now, lol But anyway my dad worked at a turkey processing plant, and they would give away tons of free turkeys! I guess it’s all kinda items like that and who ya know.
Now I also want to say this too, and I found this out by volunteering at a small food pantry.
The vegetables no matter what they are here, as long as they are fresh vegetables. Are free to the food pantries to take and give out to the clients. I don’t know about where you are? But it’s that way here. I just wanted to give you an fyi. And just by looking at the labels on some of them. We learned it’s because they were mislabeled.

$20 for chitlins?! Good gravy but I’m sure they will be beyond delicious.

I can't believe it either. And just think they used to be given away for free

I was thinking the same! Even beef suet, tongue and heart is expensive when it used to just be throw away.

i find it interesting how the original poor people foods like chittlins and wings and livers have become the upper middle class foods. I probably wouldn't mind as much if the stuff that only the well off ate when i was kid was now the cheap food. unfortunately though it is all now out of the reach of poor people.

I had to google chitterlings. Had no idea what they are. Now I know. Have a supercday!

      @unclechristhefoodpantryche7959  18 дней назад

Exactly, so why are they so much more than lobster? That's crazy. Anything that is considered a holiday food is so expensive.Do you know why people used to eat Turkey's chicken wings chitterlings And things lifestyle not to mention catfish, because they were cheap LO.L and fed so many people now good luck with that

I know your kidding. 20 dollars a bags for chitterlings? Thanks for the tip about that brand being clean. I don't think a lot of people have tried chitttterling. You know it's like ox tail and beef tongue. I grew up on a farm and the butcher in town always butchered on Saturday. My Dad would go into town on Monday and buy beef tongues and the whole cows tail for 49 cents a piece. Of course this was in the 70s

I know weren't those good times LO. L. And here in the city, the slaughterhouses would give away beef tongues. Oxtails chicken wings pig's feed pig ears. They didn't sell that stuff now. It's a delicacy and they put a delicacy price on it too. It's crazy, chitlins cost more than lobster.

@unclechristhefoodpantryche7959 I live in Chicago now. I still try to cook things we grew up on when money permits. I made rabbit stew and white rice and the neighbors kids and my kids ate it up and were mad when it was gone. I told them it was rabbit and they were mad for a minute but still ask me to make it. (and chitterlings)
