- The massed pipes and drums performing 'Scotland the Brave' on the march at Gordon Barracks at the Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, Scotland. This was part of the 2019 Armed Forces Day celebrations in Scotland, after the main parade through Aberdeen earlier.
The parade included Lonach Pipe Band, Huntly & District Pipe Band, Kintore Pipe Band, Ballater & District Pipe Band, Aberdeen UOTC Drums and Pipes and the The London Scottish Pipes and Drums. The audience included many veteran military servicemen and veterans associations.
Always like to hear ‘Scotland the Brave’! Well done!

O my that was our school song in Toledo Ohio. Didn't know much about Scotland but everyone paid attention when it was played.
One of my favorite songs of all time. I heard it as child in the U.S. watching the Black Watch.

The Scots come from Pictish people Vikings didn't impact Scots until middle ages. And Vikings became Christians after landing on Scottish and Anglican coasts and making beach-head camps and running raids inland to find gold and jewels and jewel-encrusted religious artifacts used in Christian services. The Anglican and Scottish Abbys and Monistaries were manufacturing religious artifacts for European countries. The Vikings became interested in conquering, but the Scott's and Anglicans were fierce. Eventually the Anglicans christian-ized Vikings and the famous Eric the Red became a Christian before he was exiled after he killed a man in a brawl. He was convicted of manslaughter and exiled to Greenland I believe. Vikings took sides with Scots against Anglican kings. But the Anglicans prevailed.

Looks a bit chilly; happy the troop is wearing wools! From SO CA, USA with no particular knowledge of historical, political or social attachment; but, the pipes & drums are always heartly stirring & brings tears to the eyes for the dedicated & brave of Scotland.

Imagine, back during the Napoleonic era of war, Civil War or any sort of era where you volleyed at each other with muskets, flint locks, etc. You're getting assigned something and they are like, "Here's your bass drum...good luck."
"But...wait...they've got guns."

"Nope...it is brightly colored. You'll stand out, but don't worry...no one will aim at you."
"Oh, because I'll be behind all the line infantry?"

"Yeah...but they aren't trying to hit YOU specifically."

The COVID-19 Outlander Tam
Are there any craft shops in Scotland that are able to craft an Outlander Tam Bonnet that has a face mask stitched into the Tam? The mouth piece would be fit through a pocket on the right side of the face and pulled snugly from the left. The Hens Tongue is then pulled snug around the mouth a second time and then buttoned to the wing of the Tam. A yellow rooster plume is definitely needed on the left side.
Payment....one 2"x 2" cut and burnt walnut block or stick that is then put into a mason jar of mountain shine or bottle of mountain shine and left to age for three months + a wee bit of banana or other fruit.

But I'm curious that are they serving in Army or have discharged? because some of them look quite elderly and some quite young.
They are a *civilian* pipe band with former members of the Army who have medals on display, hope that helps clear your question.
