Yes, the headphone jack was removed. It’s not as simple as just adding it back. You’d also have to add the audio chip that Helder was using and the hardware for the audio jack. Increases the cost and this was meant to be cheaper, hence lite. The versions of the mintypi prior to 3 didn’t have a headphone jack. You could get creative and figure out how to add it yourself.
Yes, but it's clearly not a small thing people didn't need. It's basic functionality for a lot of people. I play primarily on airplanes, I don't want to be blasting Donkey Kong. Luckily we can at least use Bluetooth if we get the W, but it's still suboptimal.

First of all, the built in scraper tool is utter garbage. did nothing to my mintypi. what you need to do is watch a vid on how to use Skyskraper, which is what I used to scrape *all* my roms no problem.
I dont know if it would fit or if you'd have the resources to do it, but in terms of making this more "approachable", one thing that would help is eliminating the need to solder the pi to the custom pcb. One idea i had was an edge connector with one row of pins longer than the other. The shorter pins make contact with the top gpio row, and longer the bottom row on the opposite side. Edit: half an edge connector sitting above contacts points on the custom board would be more low profile and possibly easier to make.
I think wormy should hold a poll to see how many people think it’s worth it to take out the headphones jack. I think the biggest deal breaker is it’s removal, which is not good.
I dont see what's the problem though, everyone has airpods and bluetooth headsets nowadays, and the jack on the v3 can't compare to bluetooth (sometimes there is a small buzz with the headphone jack)
YES use flux! It is horrible to try to fill up the little holes with solder without flux, and I had a tiny solder tip and small hands 😂. I gave up and bought some flux, which made everything so much easier. for my mintypi v3 I used some leftover wire from a previous project which worked perfectly, so I think you'll be fine. the tape and glue should also be fine, but be extra careful with the glue, any glue on the CPU or ram can ruin your entire project.
