everyones been gearing away from a world without the 3.5 mm jack. Guarantee every other single phone company will start to follow suit. and nobodys going to whine as much cause its not apple.
Not for quite a while really. And even if they did, it would be based on the standard usb jack, which any company can make products for without licensing. If samsung invented a new proprietary connector, then slapped it on their phones in place of USB there would be outrage, let alone if they then removed the headphone jack in favor of said connector
I know that I was more asking whether or not it was reusable. Based on how it seemed to be stringing apart like glue on disassembly, I'm gonna guess no.
Yeah but they're also poorly optimised an NEED that much ram just to function properly. Have you seen phone buffs app launch test? The iPhone 6s was the first and only phone to go its entire life cycle undefeated. The test starts with opening a bunch of apps and performing operations. This first part tests storage speed, CPU speed, ram and GPU. Then after completing the 1st round they then go back and reopen all the apps in the same order. If the ram is working the way it should then none of the apps will need to reload. The iPhone 6s with 2gb of ram flew through the test and beat every single competitor including the latest android flagships and even finished both rounds faster than the Note 7 could finish the first round. Just shows that apple know what they're doing when it comes to chip design and software optimisation.
you can buy new adhesives online, like for the iphone 6s. Just make sure that the technician that is going to repair your screen, comply with basic standards (meaning that he's not a cheapskate and will invest in 1$ adhesive)
I was wondering the same. But I'm sure that the better quality third party manufacturers of replacement screens will include some type of new gasket with adhesive on the replacement screen.. That is if your screen cracks. I wouldn't open the phone just for fun since you may make it no longer water resistant by doing so.
i remember fixing the iphone 4 and the iphones 4s. this is childs play compared to what i used to back in 2011/2012. IF YOU CAN FIX AN IPHONE 4(S) THEN YOU CAN FIX ANY IPHONE.
the second speaker is up at the earpiece assembly at the top of the phone the second speaker grill at the bottom is for microphone and valve for pressure equalization
It's basically "coil whine" as it's called. Very common in laptops but now showing up in the iPhone due to the powerful processor it has in it. It happens when either the CPU or GPU (or both) is under high loads.
it's really incredible the performance they're getting out of these chips! apples chip design team is doing incredible work, maybe some of the best considering how intel's focus has switched to battery performance
so you want to throw away multiple new features to have a not-so-much longer usage and a headphone jack? Go buy a Nexus (or the new Pixel as rumours) then?
iphone 6s same way taptic engine is massive I never even used the 3d touch its pretty useless IMO. Maybe if samsung or android gets ahold of something similar it'll become useful but for now it's pretty much the absolute most worthless thing apples made besides the watch of course. I'm glad I got the note 7 I couldn't stand using that iphone for a couple months idk how people do it the software isn't as reliable as it's sold as especially since ios10
Surprisingly that the Taptic engine consume so much of space, i feel it can be smaller for the space for a headphone jack, as it's only provide vibration feedback, am i right?
the taptic engine is Apple doing something new, who else is actually doing something new in a phone? its incredible industrial design matched with technology and marks apple's new trajectory of creating physics like they create software
Jake G Just like when they finally decided to include wireless charging? They'll add some hyped up marketing BS on top of wireless charging and claim it's "innovative", "new", and "ground breaking".
armystrong6920 well if Apple comes up with actual wireless charging, it will be new, innovative and groundbreaking. Because what companies (like Samsung) have right now is inductive charging, not wireless.
Same thing I'm wondering! I doubt it though, since the problem really only recently gained traction. I'm sure the iPhone 7 logic boards were in production long before the problem became widely known..
it seems like just the wide angle. all though it would make more sense to have it on telephoto since a zoomed image is more prone to shakiness (it amplifies the shakiness) but with software iPhone may be able to get rid of the noise by compositing the two images... idk
Yes I'm sure this won't change since it's a security measure. The home button will most likely remain paired with the phone's logic board as it is now. Otherwise someone may find a way to pair a new home button with THEIR fingerprint to YOUR phone and potentially get access if it wasn't strictly paired with the original.
The taptic engin literally does the same the as the previous home button. They should of just stick with the an improved version of the home button and still have space for the headphone jack. And FYI, we don't have technology that's better than the headphone jack.
great video and all but you should have rated repairability on this 0 because there are not replacement screens that i have found that you can buy... and even if i could find them they would probably be outrageously expensive.... the 6 and 6 plus screens are $29 and $39 respectively then the 6s plus screens are for some reason around $100.... CRAZYYYY whyyyyyy????
no. apple custom designs and builds their A series processors and their chip design team has done incredible work so you can't just pick a part off the market, very custom engineering and incredible industrial design. if you can do all of that you should just come out with your own phone!
The switch to 7000 series aluminum in the 6s Plus fixed the bending issue with the 6 Plus. The 7 Plus uses the same aluminum, so it's safe to say it still doesn't bend.
Casjen Schmid Oh.So it's just the normal 6 Plus that has the issue and the 6S, 6S Plus, 7, and 7 Plus do not have the issue? I'm still using a 6 (16GB Verizon) so I guess it'd be okay to switch to the 32GB Verizon 7 Plus then?
Came here because I’m a woodworker and the small speaker holes at the bottom of the are full of saw dust. I’ve used a toothpick and and free handing a tiny drill bit to carefully work it out a couple times but I feel like I am packing it in now. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Wow the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge scored 3/10 compared with the iPhone 7 getting 7/10. It used to be the Samsung's were the easiest to repair. Times change!
when you took it apart I saw some stretchy material. I assume this is adhesive that not only does binding but aids in water proofing? Do you pretty much compromise the waterproofing my opening this thing initially?
I am not a big fan of Apple products but I find it quite impressive how clean and good looking their products are on the inside.
She's back! Let's all hear it for Gwendolyn!
A good video but you should've pointed out that opening the iPhone will damage the waterproof seal around the screen.
we're not all americans you know:))
Voodoo Child Hah, yeah but sadly a lot of iPhone users are american
Pretty sure thats self explanatory.
true but at the same time it should be kinda obvious
then they would not get paid by apple
The iPhone is beautiful inside, especially compared to competition.
whenever I try to fix something iBreakit
Cash Bonanza lmao
^ most under rated comment
I broke the home button on my 5s trying to change the battery yesterday
I'm getting shares in screwdriver companies
Thanks for the tip there
Wow, the taptic engine is huge!
"The 3.5mm jack takes up alot of space" my ass, that thing must be almost twice as big by volume.
Lol, I was thinking the same thing. They got rid of the 3.5mm for that thing?!
everyones been gearing away from a world without the 3.5 mm jack. Guarantee every other single phone company will start to follow suit.
and nobodys going to whine as much cause its not apple.
they put two 3.5mm jacks in there.
Not for quite a while really. And even if they did, it would be based on the standard usb jack, which any company can make products for without licensing.
If samsung invented a new proprietary connector, then slapped it on their phones in place of USB there would be outrage, let alone if they then removed the headphone jack in favor of said connector
so true
I'm assuming the seal around the display will need to be replaced if the phone is ever opened, correct?
yeap, the seal is what gives it its water resistance.
I know that I was more asking whether or not it was reusable. Based on how it seemed to be stringing apart like glue on disassembly, I'm gonna guess no.
Correct, same as the 6s
Yes that is correct, that is if you want the water resistance to be reinstated.
yes of course.....
welcome back gwen!
Great video! I'm so glad the plus now has 3 gigs of ram!
Yeah its a good new feature but have you ever used up all of the 2gb of ram in the 6s/6s+? It's quite difficult to do.
Yeah but they're also poorly optimised an NEED that much ram just to function properly. Have you seen phone buffs app launch test? The iPhone 6s was the first and only phone to go its entire life cycle undefeated. The test starts with opening a bunch of apps and performing operations. why is there background music so loud. it's annoying
He still wants to hear her talking of course.
it's nice to see these kind of videos when everyone is treating iphones like a jewellery for a geek this kind of videos are awesome
That taptic engine is huge!
Sooo... if you tear down and reassemble an iPhone 7, it will no longer water resistant since the adhesive is torn apart / no longer seal the phone ?
Right. That iPhone 7 plus isn't waterproof anymore.
you can buy new adhesives online, like for the iphone 6s. Just make sure that the technician that is going to repair your screen, comply with basic standards (meaning that he's not a cheapskate and will invest in 1$ adhesive)
^
I was wondering the same. But I'm sure that the better quality third party manufacturers of replacement screens will include some type of new gasket with adhesive on the replacement screen.. That is if your screen cracks. I wouldn't open the phone just for fun since you may make it no longer water resistant by doing so.
the water resistant will be gone, have to coating again.
Nice video....thanks
Very well done. I like how you explain the whole process.
Nice job guys! Kind of miss the only music...
The real question is, after a repair is it still water resistant? Or do the adhesive seals reseal properly.
that tictac if cut half can put 3.5jack
i remember fixing the iphone 4 and the iphones 4s. this is childs play compared to what i used to back in 2011/2012. IF YOU CAN FIX AN IPHONE 4(S) THEN YOU CAN FIX ANY IPHONE.
good job
fastest teardown
You guys so rock...
nice information
Damn, what a high quality video.
Excellent quality video.
Very well done.subbed
so... could you disassemble the speaker??
still working waterproff case ??
You,ve earned a sub. Great Vid!
Thanks for teaching us!
I like how the insides of the iPhone are all neatly placed and is all blacked out. Seems better quality and thought out.
We wish and need and hope OLED 4K screen display for new iphone soon
So they took out the 3.5 mm jack to fit in a much larger taptic sensor that will just consume more power and is not ergonomic?
You never did the front facing camera and the speaker right bellow it
Thanks for these tear downs. Your the only I think. But more importantly the best 👍🏽
so second speaker grills are just holes and nothing else? i thought there would be microphone or something :\
the second speaker is up at the earpiece assembly at the top of the phone the second speaker grill at the bottom is for microphone and valve for pressure equalization
So were you able to inspect the phones logic board and see if it is as prone to the multi-touch issues that plagues the 6 and 6+?
Can u make a video of the iPhone 7/7 plus hissing noise? I have seen some videos about it and I wonder what cause that hissing
How much speaker in iPhone 7+
If that new Taptic Engine for the home button was removed, there's enough space for a much larger battery, and a headphone jack!
but the taptic engine is a good thing
so you want to throw away multiple new features to have a not-so-much longer usage and a headphone jack? Go buy a Nexus (or the new Pixel as rumours) then?
They sacrificed the headphone jack and battery capacity for the taptic engine
^captain obvious is obvious lol
iphone 6s same way taptic engine is massive I never even used the 3d touch its pretty useless IMO.
Is it still waterproof after you open it?
if the seal is not professionally re-applied then it is not longer water resistant
Where can I find original Iphone 7 plus camera module?
mega subscribe. this is how you tear down a phone and make a review. very organized. God bless you greatly (::::
does it have a left speaker ?
Great video as always, not sure about the new music tho
Surprisingly that the Taptic engine consume so much of space, i feel it can be smaller for the space for a headphone jack, as it's only provide vibration feedback, am i right?
Yes but it also provides the feedback for the 3D Touch on the screen, not just for the home button. That's probably why it has to be that big.
the taptic engine is Apple doing something new, who else is actually doing something new in a phone? its incredible industrial design matched with technology and marks apple's new trajectory of creating physics like they create software
Jake G Just like when they finally decided to include wireless charging? They'll add some hyped up marketing BS on top of wireless charging and claim it's "innovative", "new", and "ground breaking".

do you have a set of all tools needed to fix iPhone 7/7plus? please give me the part number. Thank
What about the small parts? flex cable on the top right.. is that for NFC?
Will this model suffer from IC diseas?
But did they underfill the touch IC chip?
Same thing I'm wondering! I doubt it though, since the problem really only recently gained traction. I'm sure the iPhone 7 logic boards were in production long before the problem became widely known..
Wait so does both the wide angle and telephoto lens have OIS or is it just the wide angle one
it seems like just the wide angle. all though it would make more sense to have it on telephoto since a zoomed image is more prone to shakiness (it amplifies the shakiness) but with software iPhone may be able to get rid of the noise by compositing the two images... idk
A very good, straight forward video.
Thank you so much
1:52
2 sets of optical image stabilisation? Are you sure? I think only the wide angle has ois
So how do you hard reset the device without an active home button to press?
You don't. It's a feature
You use volume down and lock
Volume down and power button, just as easy.
using power and volume buttons
ala jibril oh so that's how you do it now lol I would still hold the button as well and nothing would happen lol thanks
Thank you
Will Touch ID still be unable to work in the event of the home "button" being replaced?
The iPhone 7 and the 7 plus currently supports Touch ID
Yes I'm sure this won't change since it's a security measure. The home button will most likely remain paired with the phone's logic board as it is now. Otherwise someone may find a way to pair a new home button with THEIR fingerprint to YOUR phone and potentially get access if it wasn't strictly paired with the original.
Is there dual speakers? I didn't see 2.
One is the bottom mounted one, the other is the earpiece that doubles.
Copied from the new HTC10, but K
Well done!!
When will yall be selling screen replacements... I NEED ONE ALREADY 😩
yea, then I wouldn't be able to hear the tear down info... so your little smart ass comment can gtfo
really? OMG TAKE CARE WITH THE PHONE
How the hell did you crack the screen? In drop tests it takes alot to crack an iphone 7 screen. How about be more careful?
7 sounded a bit high considering how much was glued together, but what do I know :)
Dont tear it down just give me them..
The taptic engin literally does the same the as the previous home button. They should of just stick with the an improved version of the home button and still have space for the headphone jack. And FYI, we don't have technology that's better than the headphone jack.
you guys have my dream job
I came here to see the speaker placements.
This phone is fuckin amazing.
Will the phone still water resistance after opening up ?
SAM GH no it will not be water resistant after this because the seal is broken
Awesome video
What about the part that makes the hissing sound?
they used command strips for the battery. Lol
Hi, thank you for this video and i will be happy if you provide us a video about ipad air2 charging port replacement.thanks again.
great video and all but you should have rated repairability on this 0 because there are not replacement screens that i have found that you can buy... and even if i could find them they would probably be outrageously expensive.... the 6 and 6 plus screens are $29 and $39 respectively then the 6s plus screens are for some reason around $100.... CRAZYYYY whyyyyyy????
Does the iPhone lose its water-resistance after a repair due to the adhesive lining being removed?
iphone 7 es mismo iphone 6 (suficientes)
Soooo great explanation :D
smart lady! the water resistant function will be gone after be opened, so not try to drop into water again.
can someone tell me what taptic engine is use for?
thank you for that
Thanks a lot Mam
Can y'all do a logic board replacement.
please stop the annoying music.
Just like the S7, S7 edge and Note 7, once you open the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, it's no longer water resistant.
great job
Can you also do one for LG V20?
Does the iFixit 64 bit kit have the new drivers?
Yes..
The iPhone 7 plus headphones have a gasket on the connection point when you plug it in it seals the port. I just noticed it. On mine.
could I just build this phone
no. apple custom designs and builds their A series processors and their chip design team has done incredible work so you can't just pick a part off the market, very custom engineering and incredible industrial design. if you can do all of that you should just come out with your own phone!
I've heard the iPhone 7 Plus addresses the bending issue from the iPhone 6 (and 6S) Plus.
Is this true?
no
The switch to 7000 series aluminum in the 6s Plus fixed the bending issue with the 6 Plus.
The iphone 6s fixed the bendgate and iphone 7 wont bend in your pocket to
The 6s addressed that issue.
this is like doing surgery to a phone..hahaha biologic class.
Video goes very fast
No indicator arrows for pointing screws
Voice low music louder than voice
Please make videos like jerryrig everything
I like this video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Came here because I’m a woodworker and the small speaker holes at the bottom of the are full of saw dust. I’ve used a toothpick and and free handing a tiny drill bit to carefully work it out a couple times but I feel like I am packing it in now. Any suggestions? Thanks!
How much they pay you for that 7 guys?!
@ifixvideo how can I upgrade my micro SD card 128GB have to take out old chip please contact me back 🤔 on that subject
iPhone 7 using Samsung RAM 😂
I know, right? Almost as hilarious as the Macs that run on Intel processors!!!
Samsung RAM
Toshiba Memory
LG Screen
Wow the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge scored 3/10 compared with the iPhone 7 getting 7/10. It used to be the Samsung's were the easiest to repair. Times change!
can you tell me what screwdriver brand you use? it looks high quality...
iFixit
They sell the kit
when you took it apart I saw some stretchy material. I assume this is adhesive that not only does binding but aids in water proofing? Do you pretty much compromise the waterproofing my opening this thing initially?
Some reviews stated that the telephoto lens does not have OIS
Good keep it up
