"at this point you're probably thinking 'what in the hell is he doing?'" - That really made me laugh. I'm always impressed at the way you go from what looks like a mess to something really cool by the end of the video.
I know Im randomly asking but does someone know of a method to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my account password. I love any tricks you can give me
@Franklin Kyrie I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
wow... that looks FANTASTIC !!! All the little details we think about "fake-improvising", meaning we want to have 100% control and try to make it look haphazard, you just made it actually improvised, faster, in a much more fun way and looks just incredible! Congratulations, man!!!
This Mimic will be in the "Bard's Bountiful Bosses" (custom monster manual), what should we call it? I make stats & lore for custom minis I craft on the channel, so far I have published one "The Bard's Craft Bestiary". The mini monster manuals are part of Patreon rewards. Writing these is a fun way to at least give something back to the supporters of the channel.
I spent about 3 hours working on this today. I ended up using some leftover reaper mini material (cutaway) to create a keyhole above the mouth. It even looks like it could be the mimic's eye. Thanks for your channel. Honestly, within watching two of your videos you became my favorite RUclipsr. I can't wait to see more. Please continue creating content.
The broken wood makes it feel as if its an ancient mimic that was disturbed, and when i came to life the planks broke apart to revel the creatures true form. Epic boss for sure
The trick with mimics is never to stop at one! Everyone expects a single mimic, no one expects the mimic to contain more mimics. Or a room where every single item of furniture is a mimic. Well no one except my players 'cause I ruined them :) Also really good job on the build btw!

These scratch build minis are the best stuff. I'm always experimenting on how to get decent looking minis for cheap. I built a Burrow Worm just a few days ago and posted the tutorial on my channel also. Too few youtuber crafters do things like this.
Very cool. Discworld luggage! I love how nanchalant you are. In the midst of crafting all looks sloppy and messy but you confidentiality proceed to an amazing finish. You paint bravely. I willing to try anything crafting but I seem to be afraid to dig deeper into painting you are inspiring. Keep up the great work!
Very clever, very creative, highly original. Suggestions: embed tiny splinters in the tongue tip to look like teeth or barbs, give it another appendage, say a ropy 'arm' with a balled fist, and go with the googly eyes.
Mindblowing! I follow your chanel week by week and i cannot stop looking in total awe, what you can achieve with cardboard, random sticks, glue some foam and a bit bark...
This is looks fantastic as always! You should make bunch of regular chest and when your players investigate them, you tell them to roll for initiative >:D
You can speed up crafting with hot glue by dumping is in cold water - it also helps with locking in shapes. If you use a big bowl or similar and add water a little at a time, you can even form whole miniatures out of hot glue just like an FDM 3D printer - but lots less precise ;-)
I also crafted a mimics from hotglue and sticks once, spent hours trying to cut the exact measurements for the parts, and tried to make them look similar to the one in the monster manual. Seeing how it also looks amazing when broken in messy pieces makes me regret that decision a bit...
Luke, I need you to pick up two things, a hot glue gun with two temps, and the second is some cheap makeup brushes for dry brushing. If you do these two things your quality of crafting life, will be better. You might not make better stuff, but you will burn yourself less, and spend less time waiting for it to cool-down. Also the makeup brushes are just fantastic for dry brushing, and they are super cheap. Great video as always.
Quick note on the hot glue tongue: I've had good results with similar objects by dunking the glue in a bowl of cool water as soon as I get a shape I like.
i have and idea if you wanted to go after a 5e dnd mimic you could make a base for the gums and eye sockets with hot glue to look very gooey and put some beads for the eyes, and long rice grain for the teeth i think rice could make for some gnarly, sharp teeth.
You need a dual temperature hot glue gun. Just throw a switch and you have hot or.... Errr... Less hot glue. I find it pretty handy. Also a can of keyboard duster turned upside down is a perfect way to instantly cool hot glue.
I like to think theres something to the extended lore of these monsters all having the same purple blue teal glow to them; and if not i would add it as soon as your players catch up on it
Hey Lucas man, why don't you get a bowl of Ice Water when you're trying to sculpt the glue so you can get it to set instantly? Obviously it wouldn't work for verything but I bet it would have helped with that tounge.
Terrain and miniatures, you do it all! Looks amazing once again. I am starting to craft my own terrain soon, is there a way to make it so that terrain can be used again in a different form? For example: floor tiles with "holes" in them and walls with the same size but added on? Very curious about this! I'd also love to see some of your sessions sometime, is there a live stream or something like that?

One question, the paint of your hot glue has'nt come off? Cause i have heared a lot about that painting in hot glue can make your paints come off after a few days. But appart from that AMAZING miniature!

@@BardsCraft Well, it's just a box with teeth. The neat thing is I can close it so it looks like a normal treasure chest, and then open it for the mimic effect.

well considering it looks like a mimic from hell that the devil made why not call it "devil mimic" or "hell mimic"?
Call it the Greedfull Snapper, or the Trove Warden
I'd call it hungry box
Call it "Ferocious Mocker"!
I'm happy to see another miniature build. You have amazing miniature ideas.
I really liked this one; a classic done extremely well with a minimalist approach. That's what I call EPIC.

He’s totally cool ,a few sticks ,and leads of glue sticks ,who would have thought this would appear ..brilliant 😀
Thanks for the löve
Simply amazing, that it is totally improvised is awesome in so many way. Would’ve loved those googlie eyes. 👍🏻
