Surprised you didn’t mention the best advantage of the RS4/R8 4.2L V8 over the other Audi 4.2L’s, it doesn’t have the cheap timing chain guide/tensioner known for causing catastrophic engine failure.
I’ve been dd’ing my RS4 for the past 2 years in Canada (Toronto) and is by far the most reliable car I’ve owned (as opposed to B7 A4, 06 jetta, ‘12 Corolla) in terms of issues and maintenance. I just hit 200k km but they’re BEASTS! Literally take anything you throw at it in any weather regardless of how many times you push it to the limit. Gives you a strong inspiring feeling of confidence behind the wheel to keep pushing her as she loves to rev out 🤙 aside from failure prone factory DRC suspension, rusting oil cooler lines, and occasional carbon cleans; one of the best cars to own!
To be honest a lot of this information is misleading, he just reads what he looked up, obviously this isn’t making less than any other ls3 so actually 460ish hp
I have a 2008 RS4 and it's an absolute blast to drive. Not to throw shade on the SS, but the wide hips on the RS4 take the cake specifically from a looks department.
Picked up a b7 rs4 last year. It’s an absolute blast to drive and listen too. The styling is still good by today’s measure. The high revving v8 is purely visceral! Sure it’s not the fastest but shifting the 6 speed makes up for it. Nice video and great content!
Low projected depreciation definitely played a part in me choosing the sleeper SS vs a scatpack 392 charger, I bought my 2015 ss 3 years ago for 36k, I could sell it now for 42-45 despite putting 30k miles on it, which is pretty awesome I must say. It's a great car, but it isn't perfect.
Tbh $35k sounds really expensive for a nearly 15 year old car that will probably just accumulate problems. It's a nice engine tho. My friend had the S4 and it was a pretty nice daily, but even back in 2012 the maintenance was pretty bad
Hi something you didn't say was the ss is very low maintenance they don't break you can treat them like shit I have an SS ute it's my work car full of dog hair and paper work no probs just get it serviced and no probs I also have Vf cluby Check out the vf maloo for a work vehicle
@@Zygrene If you are ever down in Orange County, let me know and I'll let you drive my 2008 ISF anytime. It is basically stock, low miles. I think you would really like it.
I'm in new zealand. These two are cross shoped in my book. I am an Audi RS fan but also love the LS motors.. Have owned multiple eras of Holden commodores / HSV. Recently I found myself shopping again for a manual v8 and looked at multiple examples of both but ended up being the B7 RS4 though I wouldn't hesitate to add another Commodore SS if I had the space and funds to get one more
Good video, just one thing, this is not the only RS model with a high revving NA V8, the RS5 and RS4 B8,5 had the same engine but came with SCUM instead of Elite so B7 or B5 is the best IMO
Any updates for 911? Also, i think it will be a great content if you do ‘what you should look for when you buying an used car’. Specially, pcars, s2k and nsx etc.. Youve bought plenty of cars and have experience with them. Also, those cars are most interested cars to buy todays. The Chevy🇺🇸2013/17 SS (Holden🇦🇺Commodore VF SS-V Redline Series 1 & 2) "SLEEPER" front & rear end can still be "AWAKENED" with the Holden🇦🇺2017 HSV GTS-R Gen-F2 body🏁kit!!!
SS has terribly tacky ugly styling with excess cheap chrome trying too hard. The RS4 has those timeless lines and wide wide fenders that make it look mean without being obnoxious
If you preffer to enjoy you car just a quarter of the year.. yes, your conclusion seems fair enought. Otherwise the audi is the car which would bring you in tte city, at ski, or at your niece in canada or uk, remaining as fast as was on summer dry surface.. as that chevy will be sluggish as a bus on the snow, rain, dirty country roads or anyting than PERFECT conditions. Keep in mind.. a year has FOUR SEASONS!
The Audi is 420 bhp so me knowing that I know the numbers for the Chevy gots to be wrong too. 0:00 your also way off of the weight on the RS4 I like watching videos with people talking about things they don't know anything about other then Google search stuff. 😂😂 3:47

I had to pay 8k to fix my S4s timing chain. Sucked
I have a 2017 SS with a 6-speed manual. What a blast!

Oh yeah + brake rotor/pad replacement ain’t cheap
So glad we get the option of the wingback and flat bottomed steering wheel. Transforms the inside compared to the US versions.
We're jealous of that too. The Euro spec seats are legit.
The SS owner will get a much cheaper ownership experience with little mechanically to go wrong.

The background music in the first minute is distracting and unnecessary
Noted and thanks for the feedback
Didn’t even notice it
RS4 B7 all day long 🙂🙂🙂🙂
No contest, SS all day

Rs4 all day!!
Amazing how well the SS has held its value, especially the manual. The main negative for me was the SS chrome fest.
I am regretting not getting one at the 20% discount at the end of 2017. But I really did not had the money lol.
@@sohaibyounus Who would have thought they would have held there value though like this. V8 Chargers are plentiful, even Scats and SRTs.
There are factory blackout parts that can be installed in place of all the chrome. They're spendy for all the pieces but well worth it, in my opinion.
@@carsarethereason7111 Agree that would be worth the $. I kind of like the sleeper exterior.

Where can I find a pristine ss for 40k?
You need that sweet tremic manual transmission for the SS
Great video. Picked up my RS4 a few years ago, best decision I made in life
I’ll take the SS. RWD manual V8 ftw.
Would take the SS for the fact that i can beat on it more without fear of a major mechanical failure

I would like your thoughts on the SS vs the ISF comparison. They are both RWD family sedans. Which one is better drivers car?
I'll see if I can test an ISF soon!

SS all day
I'd take the SS auto or manual.... easy decision
Was the video taken between San Jose and Pleasanton? Looks very familiar. I taken my 2008 B7 RS4 out that way if it is.
Good eye. This is on the Dublin side.
RS4 any day of the week over the ugly ass SS.
Had a VXR8 6.0L Now RS 4 in UK ..But do love the Aussie V8.both GOOD IN there OWN ways
“This is the only one that has a high revving, high pitched, naturally aspirated V8”

Good catch - I knew the RS5 used the same 4.2L but forgot it was in the B8 RS4 as well
@@Zygrene All good! I agree with u on most points of the video, i would also get the SS with a manual if we could get them here in Sweden.
B7 is the only version of the RS4 to get the high revving V8 in America, so that makes it special here in the US at least.
@@asathomas84 Oh really? That kind of sucks but still got the RS5 even though it's a SCUM only
@@MrZyLeXx Yeah, the B7 is the only RS4 we ever got here at all.
We need a sound off on these two best of the v8s
Aint a true VW/AUDI without a sagging headliner haha

lol 2007 Audi RS4 compared to a 2016 Chevrolet SS. I would still choose the RS4.
Ok, now you gotta do a Lexus ISF to compare!
Might have access to one soon!

Put lowering springs on the rs4 and bigger wheels and some toyos or Nittos. Its gonna handle way more better.
It has coilovers already. 19s on the RS4, performance wise is the best set up.
huh, this rs4 is already on KW coilovers...
Bigger wheels do not make cars handle better lol. Plus R888R is a trash tire.

why so monotone
