It feels less bad if you're dying on purpose than if you're trying to loot things and someone comes along and kills you. Even if your mindset is "It's ok if I die," if you're doing it intentionally it feels a lot less frustrating.
For anyone wondering the "item" is the thing that goes into the "item" slot (the bag icon) the other are "abilities" and "utilities" things

Thank you for this. I'm not a PvPer, so that means I'm nothing more than a one-shot noob mob to be farmed by the folks who enjoy PvP. This has not been enjoyable for me at all. But now you've given me a way to endure it in the least painful way possible. Thank you.

@@johnj4471 But it does bother me even though I'm resigned to it. It's not enjoyable to fuel someone else's glee through my pain. And I genuinely have no beef with PvP'ers. I'm glad that they have a style of gameplay that they love so much. Have fun!! I'm genuinely happy for them, honestly. I just don't find it fun and don't want to participate in any way. Just get my renown through the quest and bounce out.

@@johnj4471 If you don't understand, then I think I'll be unable to explain it to you. I'm sorry. I wish I could do a better job of explaining why non-PvPers hate PvP so much. Getting ganked is not fun - ever - even when you're resigned to it and don't care about PvP.

For what is an "item", you can see as you mouse over before you pick it up. There are different classes of pickup such as Offensive, Utility and Item. Only the Item slot ones count.

@@richtea7868His chat offered that as a suggested solution to which he took as a likely possibility, but not a definitive answer. OP is just clarifying with evidence as to why some drops count towards the World Quest based on the type of drop they are, i.e. the “Item” tag in the tooltip

Well done Soul, nice chilled “don’t sweat it, enjoy, don’t enjoy, it’s cool”. Nice to see a neat little, here’s how you can take part without stressing. Not sure why everyone’s moaning about this content, but that’s wow players for you. I guess some people prefer content they can blast through in a day or two. For me, it’s a swing and a miss, buts that’s because this isn’t the type of mode that fires me up. But it’s different (for wow) and it’s not sweaty, and that can only be applauded
It was announced that this will be a limited event, some bigger youtuber and streamer think of 3-6 weeks.
With sometimes below 50 rep per match you might need 5-600 matches in that time span. That's a very good reason not to like it.
My only real problem with it is you have the ability to get little to no rep for a match if you get jumped early. If this wasn't a limited time event it wouldn't be that bothersome, but being that it is, it doesn't invite the best feelings when you make no progress towards the renown cap. So it probably needs a baseline amount of rep per match, though that would just encourage afk farming, but i don't really see afk farming to be any worse than "do quest and die" if im being honest.
Other than that, it ain't all that bad, though i would prefer the actual game get some improvements.
You get 800 every daily reset = 42*800 = 33k
You need 40 Reknown at 2500 a lvl = 40*2500 = 100k
67k leftover divided by 250 for the match orders = 268 games.
Round it down to 250 for the random amounts you are likely to get.

do 6 an hour and you must literally play this 8 hours straight.
Its a lot that sounds like a little but ITSALOT.
I started playing the mode yesterday, won 3 matches total and am at renown 25, it's a grind but it's not too bad if you enjoy the mode, I usually get 1 renown every 2 or 3 matches.

absolutely. I really wish rewards weren’t locked to pvp or pve. Let high mmr pvp players get access to mythic raiding gear/rewards, idc. Just don’t make me pvp. I hate it with every fiber of my being. I play games to chill out and cooperate, not to sweat my balls off trying to murder people.

It's pretty absurd that WoW gaming has reached the point where the way of playing the game is to "get yourself killed" and "repeat that process over and over again" in order to brute-force yourself through a game mode as fast as possible. There must be some serious soul-searching at Blizzard when this is the epitome of their current game design. I am mindblown. It is a new low. But thanks for the guide, I guess!
Soul is really playing it wrong in this case, you want to last as long as possible, the later you die the more rep you'll get.
I think people are trying to game the system to shorten the grind as much as possible, so rather than focusing on how much renown they can earn per match, they instead focus on the more important metric which is renown per hour. Because the goal is ultimately to shorten the total time playing the mode as much as possible. And doing the quest and dying quickly seem to work best toward that end. There's another strategy with killing the gold elemental, but that's more risky. And generally speaking, when it comes to grinds like this, you want the consistent approach that's easy to repeat. Current? People used to do naked (no gear on) Arena runs in TBC just to quickly lose a bunch of matches for an epic. This isn’t a new thing.
Problem is the grindy mindset of people. I had a ton of fun today exploring the game mode, way more fun than FPS BR's imo :)
Well I would personally expect Blizzard to learn from their own past and improve their game design over a period of 17 years. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I mean, I'll be first in line these days to trash Blizzard for their amateurish game development. @@keithb6344

you can also drag your "item" onto the ground and pick it up 2x and finish the quest. you can do this in Duos too
Apparently this event is for 6 weeks so if you get 1 level a day that would be about 40 days total for the 40 levels?

Sorry if this got mentioned, "item" is the last slot. 1 and 2 are attack and heal. 3 and 4 are "offense". 5 and 6 are "utility". 7 is "item". There are bounties for all of those and they apply only to the slot specified.
Bit late with this but thanks so much. I hate PvP but this makes the prospect more palatable to me. I get my 500 per game, sticking close to the storm, farm as much as I can then hurl myself into the wall. It's ok, but as soon as I hit 40 I'm out. So thank you!

It would definitely be nice if the required renown was squished for ranking up.
After grinding to almost 6 I would say the spells needs a bit of a tweak, fire whirl is op man and I'm not good at all at pvp but I'm on this already so might as well enjoy it and seize this opportunity to get better at pvp(it's frustrating but fun for me lol)at last a challenging and casual thing to do.
"items" are the consumables you find throughout the match they always go in slot 5 or the item slot last on the bar they are things like the bush, the hog, smoke bombs... etc...etc.
Items are the things that go into the 5 keyring slot, like barrels, the chicken coop, the boat Ect

Is there a way to re-map the attack and heal keys to a mouse key. I've been able to remap the optional ones, but why can't I map the attack key to left mouse button.
Yes, that's what I did. Made fighting a bit easier.
"Item" refers to things that are actual items like the barrel or the gun, the things that go into the last slot on the bar, not just anything you pick up.
For those who don't like BR they should speed up the rewards.
I made my character, but couldn't bring myself to endure more torture after that Hearthstone slog this week.
In talking with guildmates, they're stating that they are playing matches, not faring the best, then not receiving anything toward the renown? We're PvE players...
i got a week of Sub time left, so i intend to grind Plunderstorm until that time is up, then take another short break before Season 4.
It's nice only when I land on an elite and gain that edge for the first five seconds, so that all the other assholes leave me the hell alone, so I can open a damn chest...
JFC I can't believe that I didn't consider this as the fastest plunder farming method. Just doing the objective and screw actually trying to be the last man standing. That stuff is for the birds. I wonder if the daily bonus is for just playing a single match or if there's one for solo AND duo?
"Items" seem to be what goes in your #5 spot (the consumables)

The "Items" i believe are looted from the Supply Chests, not the magic chests.
Thank you for not only saying it's okay to die. But encouraging people to die, so you can go on to the next one. This is actually good advice for someone like me who gets angry when I die and angry. If I have to kill someone 'cause I feel like i'm ruining their day.
One of the benefits of this event is that we'll all learn to take death more gracefully 😂

Pay attention to distance, you can see other players' abilities in use. Make your way towards a pvp battle inconspicuously, and gank someone at low health.

Depends on how long the staging time is. If you can collect more than 250 in the time it takes to land in a new match then it’s not worth immediately dying.
The idea is to remove the "if" and just start plowing away
@@SoulSoBreezy it would be worth a good check rather than find out later that time was wasted. I get the whole don’t think about it now, but you’ll inevitably get some indicator whether it was correct or not. Finding out later that it was incredibly inefficient would be devastating for many people. If it’s only mildly inefficient then it’s fine. I’d rather waste 10 minutes now to find out than find out a week later that I wasted 4 hours.
they should hotfix the rep grind.
Items are only the ones that go into slot 5, the one shot powers.
Is it better to do Single or Duo?
Duo is probably better if you’re with a friend with the same goal, but please don’t solo queue into duos and grief people that actually want to play by dying early for your personal rep grind…
According to my friends, duo. Dude from guild tried several times and only got about 3th or 4th. First time trying duo with his little sister they won it. Anecdotal evidence though...

I actually think this mode is pretty fun but I wish the regular attacks did more damage. It’s a bit tedious because people live too long. Fire storm also seems a bit overtuned.
I agree, I think the main attacks are tuned to smack the pve mobs, and I think the pve mobs are tuned too weak aswell. I think they shud buff them both, and also nerf Fire Whirl as fun as it may be when ur the one using it, but man.. the amount of times I have said "oh... he has fire whirl" is too many xdd
the special moves do far more damage than the attacks, try to build up your 1s and 2s as that is what usually kills my character rather than the Rs.
I am so glad I do not have a FOMO personality because after two games and getting one shot by an OP ability I made the decision that this isn't for me because it isn't fun at all and I'm out.
Once dead can we leave match or do we advance more if we stay and observe????
Once you've died, leave the match.
Spectating might be useful for learning strategies and how to use certain skills effectively if you actually care about the PvP aspect, but it would seem most folks just want to get this over with.
I hope Blizzard is taking notes. I enjoy PvP, but I loathe battle royale modes, especially when I can't even use my usual characters and the skills I know.
I'm getting the sense they didn't expect the reception to this to be so cold, and if they didn't expect folks to look for the best way to grind it out quickly, then they are more out of touch than they realize.

Pick two itens is the worst quest. Almost every time I get killed before I can complete that one. REALLY frustrating is you are grinding this method of quest and die.

An Item is an Item, an ability is an ability... u caan carry 2 abilities of each of the 2 types AND only one item (the right most button).
Exactly me as vulpera. Was last 8 by hiding bc I was way under level.

so umm, 7 hours a day over 2 days got me from 1 to 40 (the daily bonus 800 helped too)
for someone playing less then 2 hours a day, that is 110% true, but for anyone sitting all day at a dig, plunderstorm is very easy to do in 2 days at this point
When it says item it means the movement items not spells or abilities
The item one is a pain, best way is to find the supply chests which always contain 1

I might be wrong but this video might just be why the patch was a secret. They wanted to keep people from figuring out how to farm it quickly. They were probably wanting marathon when the players wanted a sprint.
Complicated way to say they want money. That's why they have FOMO rewards on it.
With duos it seems like you get double plunder, me and my bf would easily getting 400-500 every match where id be among the final 10 before getting above 400 in solos

None of the "Dragonflight appearances" have shown up in my DF game
report as a bug, they cant fix what they dont know is broken.
An AI version would be great, kinda like how they do the Arathi Basin holiday event. lol.. I used to love pvping and raiding, but now im just a mom squatch and i just enjoy collecting stuff while my toddler climbs on me like a mountain goat. lol

Items go in your number 5 hot key. I like collectinf plunder for a few more minutes, then I head to the coin elemental boss since it leaves a trail of plunder.
it also lures out all the players, i tend to avoid it for that reason.

Exactly. They know they failed as a game so they put FOMO rewards on everything to show investors "see, they play this shit mode every day, that must mean they like our game!"

I've done 10 matches at lvl 2, and It won't go to lvl 3
I never gained or lost XP by leaving after being eliminated.

I found it kinda fun. So, I’ll hop in for. Few minutes each day, no more than 20-30, and that’s it. It’s a nice little swerve in my routine.
And now everyone and their moms will drop in mines.
Wish you could get back in queue for the next round quicker than needing to go all the way out and back in every time

Ugh, I see this getting patched. There’s no way they’re gonna just let people earn rewards by suiciding matches.
Soul's not doing it the optimal way, that's just his thought process because of the WQ giving a bunch of rep, but lasting longer also gives more rep.
@@UltimateGamerCCnah. After playing it today, the optimal way for me is absolutely just to quest & quit.
I can hop in, do the quest, kill a few extra elites, leave with 3-400 rep and hop right back into the next match. Or I can stay in, run around an area that is increasingly becoming barren of loot, get killed, get stressed, not have fun, for 5-600 rep.

Items are the 5th slot. Like a barrel or motorcycle.
The Item quest is the consumable, so barrels, smoke bombs, etc
Im renown 20 did it in 12 hours . Just dis the quest an some gold around,400-500 per game. Tomorrow i’ll finish and im out of this
I don't super love it but I think this is a great addition to the game (temporary as it is) and I really hope it opens up options or acts as a test bed for what can be added for abilities and modes in retail wow.
Hopefully blizzard won't find this method or it WILL BE SCRAPPED...

Soul, what's the point of doing this? I mean what is the coveted reward that makes this worth while? I'm not a pet man, I don't care about pets. I'm more of a transmog guy or a mount guy or a weapons guy. Is there any reward for that? I don't care about achievements just for the sake of achievements unless they come with a reward even as little as a title. So what is my incentive to do this?

they should have just made it the "Gnolls playable" patch ...or the "Druid Class for all patch"

i think it's total exp, but it could be more a score thing and after the event goes away, Blizzard might award us some gold.
I try to always die in the storm to deny PvPers their ganking jollies and access my collected stuff.
You're denying collectors too. That's actually a very pvp-er thing to do, making sure no one levels after you out of spite.
