  • Round-3 of the NSW Hillclimb Championships was held at Historic Huntley Hillclimb, Dapto.
Wayne Penrose in the WPVW Sports Sedan sets a new track record for Sports Sedans 2001-3000ml.... the record that Wayne set way back in 2000 was 24.45sec in this same car. New record is now 23.95sec with the WPVW prepared and tuned 2842ml VW Type-4 Haltech injected engine pushing this awesome little Beetle up this very steep hill at Huntley....

As a Brit, I have always felt that the Australian VW scene has never received the recognition it well and truly deserves.

How are you getting that beam front end to stick so well?

No this is not 'Phoenix' , this is my original VW Sports Sedan that I built & logbooked back in 1997. Everyone knows it as the WPVW Sports Sedan. I had an accident in it last year & it required all new front body panels, so I updated it with a 'Phoenix' style front end. 😉🤙
