Instead of slowing down to navigate those choppy lips, accelerate through the first one and use the momentum and compressed suspension to jump the next one up on to more favorable ground. This is as far as I've gotten so far, someone may make it, I just had to point that out before continuing 💯👏🏼😂

Most bikes using crotch rocket engines and such generally only use second gear. It's pretty common to not even have a way to shift them outside of having another person click it into gear for the rider at the start.

You know what would be a good idea is if they attach a thin paracord rope to the bike and have a pulley system at the top of the hill that pulls on it as it comes up. Not enough pull to add any assistance but just enough to hold the bike up before it tumbles back down on the rider. Similar to how a rock climber can go up the face of a mountain without assistance but if they fall, the rope catches them.
14:30 was an amazing backflip and a good save too. Awesome race and a difficult hill to conquer. I have done hill climbing but on a 4x4 truck, it gets scary when you only see the sky on your windshield and not knowing where are you going to fall is something else, anyway awesome challenge
Do you mean the event staff wearing pretty much no protective gear? yes, that's nuts but I assume they have a certain level of 'safety training' at least, haha. But I think the spectators themselves are seen at some distance behind barricades, are they not? Now I'm sure some of those spectators would like to be right in the mix of the action, safety be damned just like they do in the Tour de France!

I ran 5th gear nadir toward a paved road in England using dark soil as my traction. I kicked down to 4 and hard leaned left as a road bike and I merged. We went full throttle together. My roost was minimum 30 feet of churn. The road guy nodded and gave me a throttle nod as I matched his speed before I had to stay in my farmland boundary. Pin the throttle and ignore the clutch! go go go

Back in Utah in the late 70's and early 80's they had a Hill Climb called Widow Maker. They had Harley's, Hondas, Suzuki, you name it. (1200cc) Those were street bikes converted into hill climbing. They would be a good competition for this Hill Climb. They might just Kick their asses... Just saying. I love this Shit!!!
I believe they moved the Widow Maker out there in Morgan. Just off I 84. They still run it twice a year. Cycles in the summer and snowmobiles in the winter.
Im sure that these guys know what they are doing but I can't see the advantage of stretching the motorcycle. And keeping the engine closer to the front would help keep the front end down in theory first bump on the incline you hit and it is working against you. It would be awesome to have one of these bikes designed with the self balancing technology like the Hoverboard or the Segway.

50 years ago I looked like these poor souls while trying to ride my older brother’s 250 Suzuki dirt bike on level ground! Didn’t dump it but the torque almost jerked me free from the handlebars! These people are fearless!

Need a smaller front wheel, an engine with great torque at lower RPM and smoother throttle response, stand on the pegs, lean forward, keep speed just enough to carry through, and make sure your hospital insurance is paid up.
One has a feeling that an electric motor cycle with suitable battery placement could be a winner. You get the insane torque of the electric motor at all RPM's and the weight of the batteries could be used to keep the front wheel in contact with the ground.

I remember being with my father and his friend way back in the woods on trials we used to ride. There was one very steep hill that wasn't part of the trail really, but it was just a challenge. I was on a Yamaha TTR-125 and I was just a kid, but they were both on quads. Robbie I think had a Blaster and my father was riding a Polaris of some kind. They both tried to climb that hill. Robbie fell off and the bike came back down and my father ended up getting stuck up against a tree. The hill wasn't nearly as long as this one, but it was every bit as steep.
From my bed on this rainy day off work, this looks super easy.

Some hills have workers who try to grab the bikes with a hook on a rope. But the bikes dont tumble down nearly as often or as far as you'd think.
