- Swadeshi Indology conference-5 titled ‘Karnataka Shastriya Sangita - its past, present and future’ held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore on 30th March 2019.
The presentation by Dr. Arathi V.B. deals with a fitting refutation to the allegation of the Carnatic music field being a ‘Bastion of Brahminical Patriarchy’. She starts by explaining that like most Indic terms, the meaning and scope of the very term 'Brahmana' has been gravely distorted and goes on to give the real meaning and significance of the same. She highlights the contributions of the Devadasi community, who were neither Brahmins nor men. She also gives a comprehensive list of Non-brahmin, Non-Hindu and Women musicians in history as well as in the recent past. She effectively counter-attacks all the false narratives created by the likes of Sri T.M. Krishna.
Beautifully articulated. Kudos to the speaker. The need of the hour is definitely putting down the demon of caste and creed.

Great presentation.TMK's work is to gain cheap popularity. He can never achieve famous or awards through his music.
