    My calendar server stopped working for my Mac Mini. But we continued to add events in our iPhone. There are 8 calendars on the iPhone. They have not been updating to the server for a couple of weeks to months. But the updated events are visible on the iPhone. QUESTION: How can I export the calendars from my iPhone to my Mac Mini? Once there I plan to create an iCloud account for the calendar so the calendars will be current on our Mac Mini and two iPhones. I listened to your discussion about Apple access to the data and that concerns me also. But my 3rd party internet provider does not support anything beyond their webmail program so I have to make a change. I look forward to your reply. -Randy

    I also use Proton mail and calendar. Recently, I saw a popup on how easy it is to sync or transfer google calendar to proton. I t would take some time to manually recreate events.

    Hey Sun how do you manage your photos without iCloud? Also could you please make a video on how you use spotify privately? Since spotify as I know is a huge data mongerer which they are using for serving targetted advertisements.

    (1) I almost exclusively update my contacts on my phone, is there a easy to do the reverse of this process? Where the phone is the master and it pushes sync updates via hardwire connection.
    (2) What is you have multiple computers, how do you sync between them without iCloud?

    This sync only works in ONE DIRECTION, however. If you input information onto your iPhone, there is currently no way to have said information sync to Calendars on your Mac - as was previously possible under earlier operating systems. I contacted Apple to discuss this, and they verified that sync from iPhone to Mac is now only possible via iCloud. I would love to be wrong about this however, so if anybody has a workaround, please let me know.

    I would like your opinion regarding updating the ios & the apps. Everywhere its stated that you should do it. What do you think?

    Yes we in europe care about our privacy and therefor cant use icloud for that very reason!
    Unfortunately our iOS devices will not sync contacts and calenders to the mac but they do in between iOS devices. Apple can‘t tell us why 🤷‍♂️

    Great video.. I have a strange question. I have a MacBook Air with 1/2 the storage of my iPhone. Is there a way to use iPhones as a sort of external hard drive?

      Hey Christian, yes but storage would be very slow given slow Lightning interface… you can add files to iPhone using Finder. That said, beware of lost iPhone… you would typically want to back up the files elsewhere. Using a Samsung T7 might be a better alternative.

    Hey Sun, I was wondering if your research has ever led you to look into applications such as Fantastical by Flexbits. Their website’s privacy policy states that they are privacy focused and use E2E encryption for most features. And features that could disclose some information (such as “Openings” where you can share a link to allow people to book appointments directly to your calendar) are disabled by default. I ask because your insights into privacy on MacOS and iOS has been invaluable.

    What happened if you change something on the same events or contact differently on the Mac and on the iPhone and than you plug it in for sync? Which one has the priority and overwrites the other one?

    • @beaubastion
      @beaubastion Год назад

      I would infer the Mac overwrites the iPhone as he set that up as the "master"
