This 1998 Mustang needed a suspension check after years of sitting. It has low miles for its age but needs a rebuild in a few ares. We need to check the ball joins, sie rods, rack and pinion, as well as the shocks and struts. The customer states that the steering is binding, a little disassembly will help to diagnose the issue by isolating components.

I honestly like the voice over Ray. You are in a different emotional state and have the benefit of hindsight so the commentary helps us know what was going through your mind, and your wit is a great tool here, you can evaluate your own work and make it entertaining, what mistakes were made etc and most importantly how you could have done it better. That is like a bonus video especially for the DIY audience. I would do one of these each week or every other week. It works.

Maybe one or two videos a month, of course at your discretion Ray, but going over a video or two, talking about the repair, installation or whatever you decide and how it could have been done differently in order to facilitate the speed, cost or longevity of what was done to the vehicle. Also, updates as far as how a certain part was modified, (due to no replacement part available), or the modification done for performance gains, etc., etc.!
No matter what Ray, we'll continue to watch your videos brother, your wit, humor and knowledge is truly why we always come back for more..... You've simply become a part of everyone's family!

They say he, here's the bolt, take it off, you can see for 5-10 seconds they are struggling, then all of a sudden it's off. Really? I understand they can't put that in for time sake, but at least say so. Doing an alternator on my V6 Camry, it was a nightmare reaching the lower bilts, yet, they zipped them off on the video 😂.yeah, editing.

What's truly most important though, is the information we learn about the work being done, I've never worked on this generation of Mustang, so your mention of bolt head size vs nut size is very helpful, also the fact that the axle is relying on the shock absorber to hold it in place, and many other useful tidbits of information we gain, as you go along throughout the video!
I'll be sixty four years old tomorrow, and have been working on cars and dirt bikes since I was ten, so even after fifty four years of wrenching, I still listen intently to what you have to say as you go along.... I'm always in the learning mode!!!👍

The voiceover is a good backup solution. On stuck balljoints i find it useful to apply some heat after you have applied some tension. Inductionheater is a awesome tool for rusty and stuck bolts in general, you can heat up nuts close to rubber bushing or booths without damage them. Great video. Keep up the good work👍🏼

Now that my truck is approaching 8 years old with front-end work soon. 110k miles, I'm assuming I'll have to do some front-end work soon. I live in New England. Would you recommend buying an induction tool like the nut buster if I only use it a few times a year.

Hey Ray, here’s a suggestion, use the puller to only apply pressure but whack it with a hammer while under pressure. You can save your pullers life by only applying slight pressure and let your hammer do the main work. Most of the time, any mechanical bind can be solved by applying kinetic energy such as a hammer or your impact punch.

Most of the video's that you do produce are quite alright even without the editing and you're
voice over's are quite succinct also! You're voice overs' are direct and on point for the most
part and without error because at the time of doing so, you are NOT trying to do 2-3 things
at once and it is shown to us with CLARITY!!

Cresent Wrenches and Claw Hammers are tools . When I went to work for the railroad as a Mechanic for the track working equipment I was given a crescent wrench , hammer and chisel . I was in the Air National Guard as a mechanic in the motor pool and I took a crescent wrench to put in my tool box . The motor sergeant asked what the hell was I doing with a crescent wrench , turns out my crescent wrench got used a lot while I was in the guard . Tools of all types have a purpose . Great video .

I did the shocks on my 2001 WJ. I saw a guy attach the bottom of the shock first, with the strap still on it. He put the hardware on the top of shock. Cut the strap and aimed it into the upper hole as the shock expanded. Worked well.

It's always nice to see a pro struggling with things that ought not to be so difficult. I don't have all the tools that you have, but almost. A while back I replaced the upper and lower ball joints on my '57 Fairlane and on one side, I was lifting the car off of the jack stands when trying to get the nuts on. I had the upper bolted in but could not start the lower nut. I loosened the upper nut to give me room to start the lower nut then tightened both nuts and all went fine. I guess that one spring was a little more tired than the other one. I don't live in a area where rust is a problem and that is a bonus when working on old cars.

Just to let you know, Bob Ross had a quiet confidence, no pride at all. That's what made him awesome, and I feel you have the same qualities. It's the main reason I watch your content as you break down the process of troubleshooting and overall approach for those of us that are Not professional mechanics (which struggle to do more than fluid exchanges). Keep up the great work bud!
