ok, this was the ANSWER I had been looking for. Ordered your kit, removed print head, flushed the yellow as that nozzle was my main issue. THANK YOU! Saved me from having to buy a new printer after just purchasing new inks thinking that the cheaper inks were to blame.
This worked on an 8600 Pro. I had to perform the cleaning 4 times (the video warns that twice is the max, but I figured I had nothing to lose really) and the head is clean. Much cheaper than a new printhead or a new printer! Make sure to apply enough pressure so that the stream of fluid is exiting the printhead up and down the entire length of the head. My first attempt I didn't use enough pressure because I was afraid of bursting the bladder in the head.
Wow...i did not have the syringe so just cleaned it off with dry towel a lot of ink on the back and bottom of an HP8630 and it worked! I am impressed....will order the cleaning kit though for next time. THank you, saved a printer!
Don't disconnect the print head unless the power is off or it could burn the circuit board, this came from an online instruction sheet just want to mention that
I think this is it. I had to do a lot of printing for a while and then quit for a year or so, but the black didn't work after that. Bought all new cartridge's and it still didn't work. Bought new ones again and it still didn't work. I can print all the other colors, so I new it was the black cartridge's. Saw this and just ordered the cleaning kit. Thanks :)
I would unplug the power cord after getting the printhead where it stops, then remove and flush the head, then after replacing it plug the power cord back in. Never a good idea to work on any equipment with power to it.
Hi - I'm looking forward to trying this - I've changed the black ink 3 times and every time it says K cartridge problem. One thing I couldn't decipher in your video is how much solution to squirt in each ink port (can't remember the name sorry!) Thanks so much! Tina
Hi Tina, If you are having issues with a particular color the just apply solution to the one nozzle. You can apply as mush as you think is necessary the more the better. Hope this helps.
On my HP 8610 Pro, there are small gold "pins" in the printhead cartridge slots, that touch the circuit board on each cartridge when they are installed. One of the pins inside the magenta slot fell out and I got it out, Is there a way to put the small gold pin back in place? I read one tech bulletin from HP-said if the pins are loose you can straighten them up, but it did not talk about putting the pin back in place. Any help Greatly Appreciated!
My error said "out of ink" and even though it had OEM cartridges with plenty of ink, but it wouldn't print. I cleaned the contacts on the cartridges (and what looks like an optical glass eye) and it worked, but I'm thinking there could be similar "receptors" on the print head that could have been cleaned. Are there? Thanks!
Hi I have an issue on my 8610 printhead. It won’t align. Black ink won’t work despite new cartridge. I do find the black cartridge does not spring load like the other cartridges do. Does this suggest I need a new print head, or should I use cleaning liquids to unclog the black nozzle? All help appreciated?
I have this printer and have been printing well. The yellow ran out of ink and replaced it with a new cartridge and I have an error that says cartridge is damaged (I have tried three different cartridges). I tried to clean the printhead 3 times and the fluid flows through the yellow nozzle very easy now but I continue to get the same error message. HP is not helpful at all and the printheads are $140 for an eight year old printer and I don't have enough to buy one or a new printer right now. How can I fix this? Thanks
I have this exact printer. What if my printer just says, my printer appears to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed...am I supposed to see which color is out? It do not see a notice about a specific color. I was using HP's ink program. a message of the printhead is either in incorrectly
I've got the same model but it is dusty... and it says printhead is not detected... what should I do? Is it a good idea to wash printhead with that green tiny board? You just did that
Warning: protect your eyes, or stand clear, during this operation. One of my print heads was blocked to the point that the liquid squirted right back at me - onto the lens of the glasses I was luckily wearing. This video was otherwise great, the other print heads were cleaned exactly as described.

Hers says no printer head or missing printing head. Am I right to go ahead and clean it like you did, and what type of solution should I clean it with.

Same. Just tried the instructions in this video....didn’t work....read another commment stating that multiple cleanings worked for him... guess I’ll try that as I have nothing to lose but time....but if anyone else found a different solution, that would be great.
It looks like you are submerging the electrical contacts into the ink that is expelled from the printhead as you’re cleaning it. Does this not damage the contacts or is it okay to just wipe them down afterwards?
@@BestPrinters Thanks for the video. My HP 8610 printer has the following message “The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed. I took it out and put it back in as you showed in the video and I couldn’t fix it. Can you please teach me how to fix this? Thanks again.

I watched your video and ordered not only the bottle of cleaner from Amazon, but also the compressed air that some of your audience had a good experience with. I was so disappointed in the cleaner from Amazon. The tube is not as large as in your video. It would not easily slide on to the tip of the hypodermic, and also not on the tips of the printer head. Because of that, my effort was only partially successful. I had the same problem with the tube that came on the compressed air can.
I ordered the printhead cleaning kit (as linked) but the tube is sooooo small that I am unable to adhere it to the printhead nozzle end. It was a challenge to place it on the syringe but I did it because no springs were in the way. Suggestions?

@@BestPrinters thank you for the quick response. Do you think it would be worth it to just replace my current printer with a new one entirely or to get a new printhead? $145 is a bit steep and I'm thinking of getting a new all-in-one printer which seems to be roughly the same price anyways.
Unfortunately, the printhead cleaning kit arrived with a piece of tubing that did not go over the syringe tip OR the printhead nozzle. It was completely freaking useless.
The silicone tubing does fit. It is a tight fit so that cleaning solution doesn’t escape. I know it fits because I have set up the kit countless times myself.

This is so wrong. There is a small computer board on the other side. Why are you putting any fluid/ water/ alcohol or anything like that soaking it in fluid. Really. I have a degree in physics and astronomy and I would never do this.
The type of fluid being used is specific for this type of usage. As long as it is dried before reinstalling everything will be fine. I have done it many times with no problem. Also I have a newer method that includes doing the cleaning with a syringe, if you are uncomfortable with this method. Yes, there are receptors on the actual printhead.

You placed the side that has a PC board and the connector down, and it gets ink and water all over it. Is that not a problem?
No, as long as you pat it dry and it dries for 12 hrs.
