I found your channel a few weeks ago and so far, I've loved every video I've watched. My mother was a hairstylist and the first time I saw you do a haircut, I had tears in my eyes because you remind me so much of her. Like you, she was precise, checked her angles and took the time needed to do a good job. It's rare to find that these days when everything is rushed to see more clients in order to make as much money as possible. So thank you. I'd love to see how you go about doing your own highlights if you're ever interested in showing us your technique.
So sweet of you to say! I'm glad you found the channel ☺. I do have, I believe 2 highlighting tutorials on myself that you can find in my Cutting & Color Tutorial Playlist!
Great information. I wear a short bob but prefer it longer. Summer you do great cuts and educate your viewers to help get the most out of their their hair.
I'm not a stylist, but I'm loving your videos so I can know what to ask for when I go for a hair cut. I wish I'd known terms like "curtain bangs" eons ago. I told one of my stylists that I used to go to regularly (before I moved out of state) that I had once gone to one of those $5 hair salons that were popular back in the 80s and I just needed a trim, but I had layers, so the layers all needed to be trimmed. The stylist started out by asking, "So, what are we doing today?" I said that I needed no changes, just a trim. She seemed confused (or maybe just disappointed). I further explained, "The same thing, just a little shorter." There was my mistake. She butchered my hair tight to my head. I asked my future regular hair stylist how could I have clearly explained the simple thing I was wanting. She said she would refer to that as "just cleaning up the ends". (I've used those exact words ever since.) If you could make a video of standard terminology for clients to use, (including terms like curtain bangs), that would make life so much better for us to be able to speak the right language. I always ask what is it that stylists call what we called as kids in the 70s, "feathered bangs"? Your layered curtain bangs are very much like them, but usually feathered has even more layers to it for a wider/taller spray or fan on each side of textured, layered side bangs. That's a lot of explanation that "feathered" always seemed to cover nicely, but I've been told it's not a term that stylists use.
As a retired stylist, I enjoy all of your informative videos. It would be great to see styling techniques, especially for thinner fine hair. Thanks for the wonderful content Summer!❤
Yes Summer,I would love more videos on cuts but especially on how to style as I have always struggled with how to style… Also I am 52 with a round face. I am blessed to have a youthful appearance but the one area that is starting to show my age is my neck & of course I am a tad self conscious so hair styles for round faves that will help camouflage the neck a little would be gr8 😊 I have had many in style cuts that end up in a ponytail. I just went this week and got long layers with a medium fridge similar to the first style… I am determined to keep it out of a pony 99% of the time😊 Thank you for precise info on upkeep and in style looks ❤
I love watching the different styles and education on each Question as we age well mind did anyway really thinned out could you maybe show education on some options for women facing this issue Thanks ❤😊
Why do maintenance cuts and transformation cuts (long to short or mid to short) cost the same though? They both are called “haircuts” and priced the same. Are maintenance cuts easier and faster for hairstylists or do they require the same amount of time and effort as a transformation cut?
A haircut is a haircut regardless if one is chopping off all their hair or just trimming it. There are trims that take me an hr start to finish and transformation cuts that take me an hour.
@@StylesBySummerOh wow 😮. That’s good to know! So neither client or hairstylist is getting the short end of the stick. When you say trim, does that include haircuts where you are doing in to reshape and touch up layers again?
Hi Summer! I have straight fine hair, but I have a lot of it. Can I still do the Traveling Guide? Hopefully, in the next month, I can get my hair cut, and I want to get it cut to my shoulders. However, I want to keep my sidebangs long (tomboyish side tails) with my curtain bangs and then have my bob layered from behind my ears back. Does that make sense? LOL The traveling guide look so cool and the layering is really nice so I wanna do it really bad haha It's really often that all of my hair weighs itself down because of how much I have. So I was hoping maybe the traveling guide would be my best option even though my hair is fine. Thank you so much I really hope you see this!!!!
I love your channel. Quick question: to practice haircut in mannequin, do they need to have natural hair? or could they have sinthetic hair for haircut practice?

Is there any other way to cut my hair
I would like to see the aesthetic part related to choosing a hairstyle for a certain type of head and face shape..thanks
Pros and cons of different haircuts are so interesting!
They are!
I think bobs are less popular from time to time, but never really out of fashion. They are timeless, in my opinion.
I agree, I love them!
Yes, would love that info summer
^^^ yes this is what I need to see 😁👍🏻
Noted!

I appreciate that! What's your typical time between cuts?
Thank you so much for these videos. They’re very helpful and practical info.
So happy to hear that! Thanks for watching!

Fun! I'd love to see you take cuts you've done & show them styled different ways- straight, wavy, etc. I like versatility in haircuts.
Good idea!

Yes and yes! I loved this video and I am obsessed with that first cut! So cute!!
All your videos very useful thanks ❤
Glad you like them!

This is a great idea for videos! The pros and cons of different cuts and dos is super helpful to hear. Hope to see more content like this!
I love the second layer cut. My stylist did that one for me a lot. But she died. She was the only one who knew how to make my layers
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!

I have supper thin and fine hair so I get a one length Bob
I just filmed a one length lob tutorial this week! That along with a bob is one of my favorite cuts to do!
When you said you were starting out with a hair cut you did 3 weeks ago I actually thought “Okay probably needs a trim”😂😂😂🙈
🤣😆
Another great video Sumner. Are you near the orlando area by any chance??? Love your work.

They can be synthetic for just cutting.

I still don't understand why you think someone's hair looks bad... Showing us different perspectives doesn't mean you are right...
I'm giving my opinion just as you are here in the comments
