These poor dolls either look stoned or having a PTSD flashback. I really think I had that Ariel with the rubber band in the bangs/fringe. I guess they assume kids won't notice? Its like big creepy mascots of popular characters at childrens parties, they think kid brains won't be able to tell and perhaps I couldn't cause I don't remember some of my dolls looking that bad then I look back like OOOF!
I loved Ariel *so much* as a kid, but not enough to get her doll from Disney ‘10 Princess on Ice for $25 - $30 😩 that cursed face haunts me on my darkest days
Dishonorable mention: All of Mattel's attempts to do the Frozen characters. I don't know what Mattel's problem is, but they just can't get Anna and Elsa's faces right. (Kristoff is just as bad.) They always look so unhinged. The bootlegs do a better job. The recent collector frozen dolls are the only time Mattel has made remotely decent Frozen dolls. and they still got upstaged by Hasbro's collector Elsa doll. It's absolutely baffling.
Agree. Hasbro did better Frozen dolls than Mattel imo. Also a thing I noticed is that Hasbro made the Frozen 2 dolls have smaller heads than the first Frozen dolls they made.
The style series Elsa by Hasbro is truly so stunning, and they manage to capture the spirit of her look really well. And I so agree with the Mattel problem. It’s unforgivable to me that the dolls always look so bad when they have 3D model references from practically every angle of the characters. The new Mattel dolls are just so soulless. Their eyes are so beady and dead and their faces are so pale with no blushing or makeup they look sick. How do they fail so badly?
@@ten-ze1pq Its really baffling because with Mattel, if nothing else, they can usually make a good face sculpt. The doll could be just a hunk of disposable plastic with the most bare bones of articulation but it will at least have a nice face. Half of the appeal of Mattel's budget princess dolls is their "cute" face and saran hair. You can pop that head off and put it on a made to move doll and have the doll you want. But with their frozen dolls you really can't do that because they are so uncanny. The other thing that kills me is that the disney store Elsa doll doesn't have a nice face either. (Disney Store Anna is pretty she is fine.) So if you want an Elsa doll that looks good you really are stuck looking for the old hasbro dolls.
Aurora has to be the most underappreciated Princess. I love her. To me she´s the most beautiful of them all and the fact that she comes from the definitive fairy tale movie is a huge plus. Besides, she gets to have a pink and a blue dress. Plus a mix of both (if well done) when the fairies messed up the dress. She can have a purple dress (if we go for red instead of pink and combine the colors). And, she can even have a pink to blue gradiant dress. Also, her peasant dress is really beautiful. More so than the peasant dress that Snow White and Cinderella have. And MUCH more pretty than Cinderella´s rags dress. And I mean the pink dress. It was awful from the start. If anything, the stepsisters imroved it.
I collect Disney dolls and can guarantee not once has Aurora ever been faithfully captured in doll form. All her dolls back then had tiny heads with faces that looked more like Barbie, but nowadays all her dolls’ heads are huge, her face screening is overly stylized, and her torso is never super cinched like the animation. The angular and graphic art style of Sleeping Beauty is so stunning and unique which makes it such a shame that no doll has ever properly embraced it. All her dolls are just so *round* in the art style so it never looks right

She looked like a vintage ponytail Barbie, if Disney had created her instead of Mattel. she had face that looked like vintage Barbie meet Disney princess face, and Im not mad at it. Plush if you dipped her hair in red dye she could also pass as that looney tune cowgirl pin up girl that that wolf character was crushing on but every time he tried to get near her she'd either hit him with a frying pan or something else which just made him love her even more lol! Also she could easily be made into a female centaur from fantasy. her whole look could of gone so many ways for a pinup cartoon character.

My aunt gave me the Aurora and my cousin got the Cinderella. when I was growing up, until Mattel made the line, we knew not to get Disney dolls..they were SO UGLY. I did get a Cinderella/Prince Charming set in the early 80s that were decent...but those "Made in Hong Kong" dolls weren't doing it. I also had the first Tyco Ariel doll and would try to dress Barbie up in the village dress to make her Aurora but her chest was too big :( So yes, Thanks to Mattel and Disney FINALLY finding artists who could sculpt for these new dolls! Now if they could just put Aurora in BLUE instead of that pepto bismol pink...all would be right with the world!

As weird as most of Disney on Ice dolls are, I remember following doll repaint artist on flickr, about 10 years ago and other than molded eyebrows, Disney on Ice Rapunzel face shape was actually closest to movie Rapunzel from then existing doll, sad that awful painting hide it.
I’ll literally never understand why Disney doesn’t just sell the Disney store 12” dolls at Disney on ice! Like u can buy them anywhere and for some reason Disney doesn’t want them sold at their ice shows like WTF are they thinking?!?! Why even pay another company to manufacture this kind of quality when they could just sell their regular dolls at the ice shows and for the Disney parks mark up like I can not wrap my head around it! I’m convinced the company manufacturing the ice show dolls has some major dirt on Disney and if they don’t renew the contracts they’re gonna spill everything… I mean what else could it be?!?!

DOI Elsa's face mold is actually one of the best Elsa molds I've ever seen, they even managed to get the nose right! So how tf did they manage to mess it up that bad with the screening haha!

ive the exact same ariel doll you showed near the end with the sphagetti arms. I only have her head. I found a solution that made it better. I repainted the eyes to look more evil I cut the hair and she now has become the diamond loving villain Madam Medusa from the disney film The rescuers
