Yes, I've never understood why people insist that 'employees' must be lying when they say "I don't work here". Why doesn't it occur to people to take a step back and LOOK at the person *before* making stupid accusations? Especially in retail shops that have a uniform... 🙄 The person dressed in pajama pants and a tie dye hoodie PROBABLY isn't on the clock for the retail store right now even if they are an employee. LOL
It becomes a lot less absurd when you realize they're treating you as if you're acting the way THEY would act in the same situation. I'd all but guarantee to you that the people who go on about stuff like that are the same ones who would be doing everything in their power to get out of work/helping people/etc. And because THEY do that, they assume everyone else must do it too.
Another thought is that they may have a habit of bitching and screaming in all aspects of their life, and when you do that people have a tendency to walk away from you because they are tired of putting up with it, or they avoid you when they see you again. After awhile, it becomes natural to assume that everybodies lying to escape being in your miserable presence.
Yes, Lyft gives not only the make, model, and license of the vehicle, but will send a name and picture of the driver. PLUS, you can see the map in the app to show how far the driver is. PLUS a text message when the driver is within 2 or 3 minutes away. It is almost impossible to get into the wrong car, if you just pay attention to the app while you wait.
Every time I've needed a cab I always ask if they're there for me before attempting to get in. I don't want the driver to think I'm a nutcase any more than I want to worry about getting kidnapped myself.
Story 5: Ah, yes, older people talking about "respect" while treating people like trash, grabbing strangers, and destroying things... That guy is the one who needs a lesson about that.
As a wise man once said you do not earn respect for doing the bare minimum, which is not dying, respect is earned by those who deserve it such as being a veteran or a hard worker that worked threw all their life and everything do you agree with that wise man
"Are you my Lyft driver?" is way more polite than "TaKe Me SoMeWhErE!" I've had people open my door and try to get in, but in their defense, silver minivans are as common as the last names Smith & Jones. I would have told that woman "the gift table is up your ass."

I wouldn't have done the bowing and scraping routine. If I were OP and truly didn't give a damn if I got fired, I think I would have gone the route of, "Oh HELLO NO, not this time! You! Get down there and pick up every piece of flatware and every plate, broken and unbroken and YOU carry it all back to the kitchen. YOU MADE ME DROP IT, NOW YOU ARE GOING TO CLEAN IT UP!', and then just stand there with my arms folded a cross my chest , with a slight tilt to my head while I do the stare with raised eyebrows.
I find it interesting that every american only asks "how can i help you" or variants of that question when a random stranger tries to talk to them in a store. Not sure if it's just me, but when i don't instantly recognize someone my first question is the "who are you"/ "do i know you from somewhere" combo so they would explain themselves and give me time to prepare the best possible response based on the answer they give😅 guess i have different priorities/ engrained instincts than others
Story six.... In all 24 years I was a State IT employee, whenever I'd stop by a store wearing my state ID/lanyard, I never got accosted by wild rabid Karens. Either they're a recent devolution of the pit viper, or my natural RBF combined with my size (6'4" and 300+ lbs.) kept them at bay. 😂

Last story: I had a small karen story here. The old karen and her daughter. The old bat didn't understand anything and got angrier and angrier so I stopped trying to interact with her. I talked to her mortified daughter like she was the mother of the yelling spawn here in the most condescending way. That woman said sorry about her mother's childish tantrum saying she loved her mom but she always was an idiot.
Story 1: They put the make, model, the license plate, and tell you how far they are. There's no reason for that woman to stalk OP's car beyond her mind going Sticker = My Ride.
Story 2: Getting in trouble in another country is one of my biggest fears since the legal system is different in each country and that Karen is best case likely going to be stuck in the country and miss her vacation/flight or worst be prosecuted and be in jail while needing to go call the embassy for legal help.

We in Germany have a strict rule. The moment a police officer, medical professional or other kind officials/health workers hear the words "kill" and "me/myself" we are theoretically required to call the nearest psychological service/ambulance. With great power...😂

Story 2: I hope the staff at the psych hospital were able to assess/treat her, because Karenism is a major mental health issue that is spreading all over and needs to be stopped. Story 6: If I was the manager at that store, after Karen tossed the stuff on the ground I would have told her that she is now banned for life from this store and that she best pay for the merchandise she just damaged or I would call the cops.

For the incident in Germany, Since she's already shown herself to be hostile, after locking the doors, I would have immediately driven a few blocks away and parked somewhere else before continuing with the GPS stuff. Always better to get out of range of a hostile person when possible.
This is why I hate lanyards! They are dangerous because someone can grab them and choke you, they are constantly in the way and get snagged on everything, and apparently they make Karens think you work at places! Seriously every time an employer has given me a lanyard I have thrown it away, I just use a clip or a big safety pins

When dealing with difficult people, respond with open-ended questions, not statements. Questions interrupt their thought pattern and force a person to think (at least a little). “What makes you think I work here?” will work much better than “I don’t work here”.
But the problem with some Karens is that the latch on to some particular action or item that makes them think you're an on-duty employee - i.e. you're wearing a lanyard (apparently thinking that the business you're both in is literally the only organization to issue people lanyards), or they saw you doing something that they perceived as helping another customer (even though I've never worked at a grocery store, there have been times I've helped a shorter person get something off of the top shelf when they've asked politely) or otherwise doing some other action that they think only employees would do (once heard a story about someone get confused for an employee because she had made a small mess while getting food in a gas station and was being nice enough to help the sole *actual* employee on duty by cleaning it up herself).

@@tehdarkswordsman6863 I know that a lot of times in these stories the OP reports not wearing anything that even remotely resembles the company's uniforms, so on the surface gesturing to your clothing while asking "Before we continue, what about all this is giving you the impression that I'm an on-duty company employee?" would seem like a simple enough method to get Karen to recognize their mistake. However, even then that's no guarantee that such a maneuver would work, since in such cases they usually tend to believe you work there because they saw you do a particular action (such as helping another customer get something from a high shelf), and then operating on the idea that *only* an on-duty company employee would ever do such an action.

So, just out of curiosity, has anybody ever pretended not to work at a place they actually do work at? Ever? Even once? From the evidence of these videos it must be something that happens so often that it's quite common for people to think other people are lying when they say that they don't work here. The closest thing I know of is workers at the hardware store declaring that it isn't their department. Which is usually true. The guy in the bathroom and pipes section can give you the way to the gardening or tools section, but they wouldn't be knowledgeable about the details of that section. They can't tell you which drill you need, but they surely can help getting the right pipes for you toilet.
Story 4: Some people just don't want to be wrong. Karen came to the conclusion that OP wants to screw his niece (which, what a freaking wild conclusion to jump to) and is a worker, and proceeded to treat every statement of otherwise being a cover. I just feel bad for the patients in said ward who need actual help and now get additional trauma and have this twat hogging and diverting resources. Emergency psych wards in Germany (as in most places, I guess) usually operate at capacity.
It's an entitlement problem, not a mental health problem. They can't do anything for her in the psych ward, they shouldn't divert resources from the people who need that kind of help
Not an IDWHL story but I worked loss prevention at Burlington Coat Factory. There was an altercation between two customers. One was an old man the other a young woman. The old man was saying how disrespectful she was being and when I asked him to calm down he knocked over a display. I grabbed the back of his belt and his collar and literally tossed him out. I was reprimanded by the manager but it was worth it. Sometimes Karens just need to be shown the door.
Lyft story: While the woman should have had the car description from the app, OP didn't help the situation by still having his Lyft sticker on the car. If your not going to drive for them anymore, TAKE IT OFF! Not a taxi story: While it's been years since I've been to Europe, even back then taxis were pretty clearly marked. And I've dropped off friends at various locations and had them do the same for me. Maybe this Karen doesn't have friends that would take her anywhere, so any car that has a passenger get out must be a taxi? But good grief, if you're a visitor in a foreign country, be polite and ask someone who is clearly uniformed for help if you need it. I'm certain an agent at the train station would have called her a taxi if asked, or at least pointed to a cab stand. Walmart story: Another stupid Karen that doesn't realize that even if the person is an employee, they're not allowed to work on their breaks or time off other than to get an on-duty employee. Otherwise the store runs afoul of various labor laws. If they're not in store uniform or have a name tag, SOMETHING that indicates they're on the job working, leave the person alone or at least be polite if you ask a question. Grocery vs Shack story: What a damned idiot GOM was! Employees at a completely different store simply aren't allowed "in back" to grab stuff for other customers. They're actually just customers too!
Story one: I use Lyft and Uber all the time. Not only do I know the make and model of the car, I know the color and license plate as well as the drivers first name and the picture they upload to the app. Bonus points for the fact that the app also shows you the location of their drivers.

Story 1: An added fairness point, not everyone can tell the difference between car makes and models. I myself am one of them unless said car is a completely different color, or is a four/two-door. I can tell the difference between a car and a pick-up truck, but that is the max of my car knowledge, people.
I actually did that once, to a coworker who was a "he-Karen". He actually looked proud and vindicated for a few seconds, until it finally got through his thick skull that I was mocking his entitlement...
I'm not really here to shake my head, but to just get a better understanding of anti-karen measures so that when it's my time, I won't freeze or pause like most people do. They have an almost uncanny accuracy of getting to people that will hesitate or be off their game for whatever reason.
I've seen several approaches I like, but haven't had to use them yet. FWIW: • When someone rudely says "Excuuuuse me!", reply: "You are excused. You may go now." and ignore them. • Of course, calmly explain why they're wrong, at most twice. • If that doesn't work, proceed on the assumption that they are institutionalized and have wandered away from their caregiver. (That may actually be true.) For example, asking if there's someone I can call to come take care of them.
They're like hyenas. Can sniff out a weak animal in a huge herd. Best not to engage, once it's clear they're off their meds. Two things I'd love to see; Karens being automatically taken to the psych hospital, and victims calling for police/security first. Never tolerate abuse on the off chance you'd feel embarrassed. I learnt that when I was 16. Getting aggressive? "Let me repeat what you just said, really loudly, so EVERYONE can hear what a douche you are". They back off. Always.
Story 1, I take Uber and Lyft 99% of the time the drivers pull up and ask if I'm the rider and match the car, driver and if a front plate on car to verify. Yes, there have been times, when I saw a car or two that was similar to the driver for me, but never accused them of being my driver. Story 4, Why does Walmart attract all the crazies? LOL
Uber Driver here. Couple of considerations: 1) The app does tell you the following: Make, model, color, license plate. Picture and name of your driver.* 2) It also tells you when your Uber has arrived.* 3) All of that goes out the window if you're dealing with someone whose history you don't know. Off the top of my head, getting an Uber means they can run errands whilst drunk or high and not worry about driving. However, they're still drunk or high so don't always expect them to be informed by what's right in front of their face. And that's just one possible scenario. *Not aware of all the parallels to Lyft, so it might be slightly different.
The moment hands are placed upon another, event if no injury occured, this is assault. When an injury occurs it's battery. People need to start prosecuting assault before things escalate
Story 2, that would be awesome if that were the common thing, like: Karen/Ken: You didn't marandize me when you arrested me. I'm getting my Lawyer to get me off on just that. I had an interesting Karen case during my Lyft days. I was in the Lyft Pickup area for the Phoenix Open and I get a ping for a rider. She tried to get me to pick her up at the Uber pickup area (Would have led to deactivation if I did that). I refused and made her walk the 1.5 miles to the Lyft pickup area. During her walk, she was becoming more and more belligerent and, when she finally got to my car, she started talking more smack. She tells me that she's going to make me pick up her friends on the side of the street (another thing that the could deactivate you for) and I had reached my limit with her. I turned into the Taxi lot and drew the attention of a Scottsdale cop. I told him that I wanted this passenger removed from my vehicle as she has been quite belligerent. The officer told her to get out and she said, "Seriously?" I said that I am dead serious and want you out of my car immediately. She went from snarling and growling to an whimpering puppy and got out of my car. I thanked the cop and went back to my pick up spot to get more passengers.

I miss the days when radio shack was your one stop shop for all of your electronic needs. I also miss the days when you could take the back off your television, poke around with a multimeter for a bit, and with a simple tool desolder a burnt resistor, pop down to the RS, pay a couple pennies for a replacement resistor, go home and solder it to the board, and youd have a working TV again. Used to be able to do the exact same thing but for cars by going to the NAPA auto parts store. Now get offa my lawn you little punks.
Usually being sent to ward for an evaluation means there is not set sentence length. You are detained for as long as deemed a threat to self/others, so yeah, it is better in a way.
Yeah, don't just get into someone's car and make demands of them. I worked at the local hospital and someone pulled in fast, gets out of their car with their hands up, and said "Help, I am being carjacked" to security at the emergency department. Except they have real cops as security there so they order the person out of the back with guns drawn and arrest the person. They almost died because they decided to "explain" instead of "comply". I guess the guy was an immigrant and they decided he was a Lyft....got in and said if he didn't take them where they wanted to go they would "End their life"...all on video with one of these new fancy things called cell phones. They tried to plead she meeeeaaaaaaannnnntttt get him fired but there was no indication the person worked for any ride share or taxi service. I'm not sure the end results but they were facing several serious felonies.
Story 5: Somehow, some people get the idea that they're kings and queens of the universe, and everyone else has been placed on this planet to serve them.
Being a woman I always always lock my door because you never know if you stop at a light a stop sign or anything else somebody can easily run up to your car and get in. I have always locked my doors to prevent us from happening and I think whether you’re a man or woman all of us need to understand and learn to lock our doors.
Story 1: Idiot woman. . . . there was a real situation a few years ago where a young woman was leaving a club, had ordered a rideshare, but DID NOT check when a car pulled up outside the club. She just climbed into the back seat, assuming it was her rideshare. The car was being driven by a predator who was looking for easy prey (knowing this was a club ) . Her actual rideshare pulled up a few minutes later, but never saw her. A few days later when police were trying to find her. . . . they found her assaulted/murdered body dumped somewhere (I can't remember where) and eventually security cameras in the area were able to track down the murderer. That man's mother was in complete denial and kept insisting her son was totally innocent even though there was DNA evidence and physical evidence (some of her belongings) in his possession. I saw this on a TV show called "See No Evil" (ID Discovery) that shows how surveillance cameras help police find bad people.
I don't understand these people doubling down when they mistake someone as an employee when they aren't. I've only mistaken a non-employee as one once, but when he told me he wasn't an employee I simply apologized and turned to look for a real one. I think it was an honest mistake on my part. The guy had a pallet -jack and was unloading things and placing them on the shelf. I've never seen anybody do that if they didn't work there. I'm 5'4'' and I needed help getting something off the top shelf and it was pushed back a bit. This guy with the pallet-jack was at least 6'2'' and he was very kind and helped me out anyway. See, being polite can get you help even from non employee's (if possible).
Story 1: I manage a restaurant in my local casino, and I don't have a driver's license due to seizures. As a result, I use Uber to get around. As you would expect, the casino has a lot of people coming and going. I've had a ton of people try to steal my Uber, even though it's not the car type, model, or license plate listed on their app.
#1 Rule #1 if Karening : ALWAYS jump to conclusion no mater what, and stick with that conclusion especially when presented with clear indication that the conclusion is wrong. #2 Aggressive Karen taken to a psychiatric hospital ? WOW ! That's way worst than being taken to the local police station. She may get stuck there for several years. #3 Whenever a Karen snaps her fingers at you, you should grab them and yank down while twisting away, hopefully feeling some snapping... #4 Karen doubled down... Then, got server a well deserved reality check. #5 That Grumpy Old Man is such an entitled jerk... He should get banned, not from individual stores, but from the whole mail.
I've used Lyft/Uber before and they give all the necessary details, including WHERE YOUR DRIVER IS! You've no one to blame but yourself when you don't pay attention. Too many of these people lack critical thinking.

So many of these posts have irate customers threatening to have staff fired. That simply wouldn't fly here, staff cannot be fired just on one complaint and staff have right of appeal to any dismissal through the employment court so employers are very wary of taking such action without it being either a very serious matter (and even then effort must be taken to resolve the issue) or the employee has been cautioned and counselled several times. It must be stressful to work in an environment in which your employment can hang on a single complaint. By the way, I was a manager before retirement and fully support the protections provided to employees, they help to produce less autocratic, inefficient management styles.
The people in the Walmart story and hot topic story have to be right so badly and when they can't be they throw their stuff down and say i don't want this anymore. Why? I was a passenger and my old next door neighbor actually tried to get in where I was sitting, not having looked up from her phone and almost sat in my lap. Lol. /Her/ ride was different every so often so it was an understandable mistake, but come on, pay attention people!

Regarding the cops in story 2, train stations in larger cities pretty much always have cops patrolling them. Not even the state's police (that's responsible for other stuff in the state) but federal police (different from stuff like the FBI though, it's just a job where you could be posted in all of Germany instead of in just 1 state). We don't need an FBI type police since stuff like "Happened in another county/state" isn't a matter here. If you are doing something in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Southern end of Germany) and the cops check your info and notice you are wanted for a crime you committed in Flensburg (Northern End, directly South of the Danish border), you will be arrested and transferred to their colleagues in Flensburg
With ride-hailing service like Uber, Grab or Lyft, the app does tell you the model and plate number of the car that will pick you up. Story 1 is definitely Karen being dumb and not checking her app to see where her Lyft car might be.

Yes, I've never understood why people insist that 'employees' must be lying when they say "I don't work here". Why doesn't it occur to people to take a step back and LOOK at the person *before* making stupid accusations? Especially in retail shops that have a uniform... 🙄 The person dressed in pajama pants and a tie dye hoodie PROBABLY isn't on the clock for the retail store right now even if they are an employee. LOL
It becomes a lot less absurd when you realize they're treating you as if you're acting the way THEY would act in the same situation. I'd all but guarantee to you that the people who go on about stuff like that are the same ones who would be doing everything in their power to get out of work/helping people/etc. And because THEY do that, they assume everyone else must do it too.

Another thought is that they may have a habit of bitching and screaming in all aspects of their life, and when you do that people have a tendency to walk away from you because they are tired of putting up with it, or they avoid you when they see you again. After awhile, it becomes natural to assume that everybodies lying to escape being in your miserable presence.

Yes, Lyft gives not only the make, model, and license of the vehicle, but will send a name and picture of the driver. PLUS, you can see the map in the app to show how far the driver is. PLUS a text message when the driver is within 2 or 3 minutes away. It is almost impossible to get into the wrong car, if you just pay attention to the app while you wait.

Story six.... In all 24 years I was a State IT employee, whenever I'd stop by a store wearing my state ID/lanyard, I never got accosted by wild rabid Karens. Either they're a recent devolution of the pit viper, or my natural RBF combined with my size (6'4" and 300+ lbs.) kept them at bay. 😂

When dealing with difficult people, respond with open-ended questions, not statements. Questions interrupt their thought pattern and force a person to think (at least a little). “What makes you think I work here?” will work much better than “I don’t work here”.
But the problem with some Karens is that the latch on to some particular action or item that makes them think you're an on-duty employee - i.e. you're wearing a lanyard (apparently thinking that the business you're both in is literally the only organization to issue people lanyards), or they saw you doing something that they perceived as helping another customer (even though I've never worked at a grocery store, there have been times I've helped a shorter person get something off of the top shelf when they've asked politely) or otherwise doing some other action that they think only employees would do (once heard a story about someone get confused for an employee because she had made a small mess while getting food in a gas station and was being nice enough to help the sole *actual* employee on duty by cleaning it up herself).

@@tehdarkswordsman6863 I know that a lot of times in these stories the OP reports not wearing anything that even remotely resembles the company's uniforms, so on the surface gesturing to your clothing while asking "Before we continue, what about all this is giving you the impression that I'm an on-duty company employee?" would seem like a simple enough method to get Karen to recognize their mistake.
However, even then that's no guarantee that such a maneuver would work, since in such cases they usually tend to believe you work there because they saw you do a particular action (such as helping another customer get something from a high shelf), and then operating on the idea that *only* an on-duty company employee would ever do such an action.

From the evidence of these videos it must be something that happens so often that it's quite common for people to think other people are lying when they say that they don't work here. Which is usually true. The guy in the bathroom and pipes section can give you the way to the gardening or tools section, but they wouldn't be knowledgeable about the details of that section. They can't tell you which drill you need, but they surely can help getting the right pipes for you toilet.

Not an IDWHL story but I worked loss prevention at Burlington Coat Factory. There was an altercation between two customers. One was an old man the other a young woman. The old man was saying how disrespectful she was being and when I asked him to calm down he knocked over a display. I grabbed the back of his belt and his collar and literally tossed him out. I was reprimanded by the manager but it was worth it. Sometimes Karens just need to be shown the door.
Story 2: it must have been a wake up call for police to think you're crazy.
Lyft story: While the woman should have had the car description from the app, OP didn't help the situation by still having his Lyft sticker on the car. If your not going to drive for them anymore, TAKE IT OFF!
Not a taxi story: While it's been years since I've been to Europe, even back then taxis were pretty clearly marked. And I've dropped off friends at various locations and had them do the same for me. Maybe this Karen doesn't have friends that would take her anywhere, so any car that has a passenger get out must be a taxi? But good grief, if you're a visitor in a foreign country, be polite and ask someone who is clearly uniformed for help if you need it. I'm certain an agent at the train station would have called her a taxi if asked, or at least pointed to a cab stand.
Walmart story: Another stupid Karen that doesn't realize that even if the person is an employee, they're not allowed to work on their breaks or time off other than to get an on-duty employee. Otherwise the store runs afoul of various labor laws. If they're not in store uniform or have a name tag, SOMETHING that indicates they're on the job working, leave the person alone or at least be polite if you ask a question.
Grocery vs Shack story: What a damned idiot GOM was! Employees at a completely different store simply aren't allowed "in back" to grab stuff for other customers. They're actually just customers too!
Story one: I use Lyft and Uber all the time. Not only do I know the make and model of the car, I know the color and license plate as well as the drivers first name and the picture they upload to the app. Bonus points for the fact that the app also shows you the location of their drivers.

Story 1: An added fairness point, not everyone can tell the difference between car makes and models. I myself am one of them unless said car is a completely different color, or is a four/two-door. I can tell the difference between a car and a pick-up truck, but that is the max of my car knowledge, people.

I'm not really here to shake my head, but to just get a better understanding of anti-karen measures so that when it's my time, I won't freeze or pause like most people do.
They have an almost uncanny accuracy of getting to people that will hesitate or be off their game for whatever reason.
I've seen several approaches I like, but haven't had to use them yet.
FWIW:
• When someone rudely says "Excuuuuse me!", reply: "You are excused. You may go now." and ignore them.
• Of course, calmly explain why they're wrong, at most twice.
• If that doesn't work, proceed on the assumption that they are institutionalized and have wandered away from their caregiver. (That may actually be true.) For example, asking if there's someone I can call to come take care of them.
They're like hyenas. Can sniff out a weak animal in a huge herd. Best not to engage, once it's clear they're off their meds. Two things I'd love to see; Karens being automatically taken to the psych hospital, and victims calling for police/security first. Never tolerate abuse on the off chance you'd feel embarrassed. I learnt that when I was 16. Getting aggressive? "Let me repeat what you just said, really loudly, so EVERYONE can hear what a douche you are". They back off. Always.
Story 1, I take Uber and Lyft 99% of the time the drivers pull up and ask if I'm the rider and match the car, driver and if a front plate on car to verify. Yes, there have been times, when I saw a car or two that was similar to the driver for me, but never accused them of being my driver.
Story 4, Why does Walmart attract all the crazies? LOL
5. Standard reaction: Look at the hand, "You're positive you no longer need that hand?" Stare at their face.

Uber Driver here. Couple of considerations:
1) The app does tell you the following: Make, model, color, license plate. Picture and name of your driver.*
2) It also tells you when your Uber has arrived.*
3) All of that goes out the window if you're dealing with someone whose history you don't know. Off the top of my head, getting an Uber means they can run errands whilst drunk or high and not worry about driving. However, they're still drunk or high so don't always expect them to be informed by what's right in front of their face. And that's just one possible scenario.
*Not aware of all the parallels to Lyft, so it might be slightly different.
The moment hands are placed upon another, event if no injury occured, this is assault.
When an injury occurs it's battery.
People need to start prosecuting assault before things escalate
Ignoring Karens is not ideal. Calling the cops on them is wise.

I had an interesting Karen case during my Lyft days. I was in the Lyft Pickup area for the Phoenix Open and I get a ping for a rider. She tried to get me to pick her up at the Uber pickup area (Would have led to deactivation if I did that). I refused and made her walk the 1.5 miles to the Lyft pickup area. During her walk, she was becoming more and more belligerent and, when she finally got to my car, she started talking more smack. She tells me that she's going to make me pick up her friends on the side of the street (another thing that the could deactivate you for) and I had reached my limit with her. I turned into the Taxi lot and drew the attention of a Scottsdale cop. I told him that I wanted this passenger removed from my vehicle as she has been quite belligerent. The officer told her to get out and she said, "Seriously?" I said that I am dead serious and want you out of my car immediately. She went from snarling and growling to an whimpering puppy and got out of my car. I thanked the cop and went back to my pick up spot to get more passengers.
"I don't work here sir."
"I don't care! You're going to help me anyway!"
"Well I DO! I DO CARE! I CARE MORE THAT I DON'T WORK HERE THAN ANYTHING ELSE I'VE EVER CARED FOR IN MY LIFE! DO YOU UNDERSTAND SIR?"

I miss the days when radio shack was your one stop shop for all of your electronic needs. I also miss the days when you could take the back off your television, poke around with a multimeter for a bit, and with a simple tool desolder a burnt resistor, pop down to the RS, pay a couple pennies for a replacement resistor, go home and solder it to the board, and youd have a working TV again. Used to be able to do the exact same thing but for cars by going to the NAPA auto parts store. Now get offa my lawn you little punks.
Usually being sent to ward for an evaluation means there is not set sentence length. You are detained for as long as deemed a threat to self/others, so yeah, it is better in a way.
The girl from the first story is a killer's DREAM!
Story 4: I like to think that that Karen will not be stepping into another Walmart any time soon.
Yeah, don't just get into someone's car and make demands of them. I worked at the local hospital and someone pulled in fast, gets out of their car with their hands up, and said "Help, I am being carjacked" to security at the emergency department. Except they have real cops as security there so they order the person out of the back with guns drawn and arrest the person. They almost died because they decided to "explain" instead of "comply".
I guess the guy was an immigrant and they decided he was a Lyft....got in and said if he didn't take them where they wanted to go they would "End their life"...all on video with one of these new fancy things called cell phones. They tried to plead she meeeeaaaaaaannnnntttt get him fired but there was no indication the person worked for any ride share or taxi service.
I'm not sure the end results but they were facing several serious felonies.
Story 5: Somehow, some people get the idea that they're kings and queens of the universe, and everyone else has been placed on this planet to serve them.
Even if an employee was lying about working there, why not just move on and find someone else to help you?

Being a woman I always always lock my door because you never know if you stop at a light a stop sign or anything else somebody can easily run up to your car and get in. I have always locked my doors to prevent us from happening and I think whether you’re a man or woman all of us need to understand and learn to lock our doors.
Even guys should lock their car doors, just because (as the Germany story shows) you never know what kind of nut cases are out there.
Story 1: Idiot woman. . . . there was a real situation a few years ago where a young woman was leaving a club, had ordered a rideshare, but DID NOT check when a car pulled up outside the club. She just climbed into the back seat, assuming it was her rideshare. The car was being driven by a predator who was looking for easy prey (knowing this was a club ) . Her actual rideshare pulled up a few minutes later, but never saw her. A few days later when police were trying to find her. . . . they found her assaulted/murdered body dumped somewhere (I can't remember where) and eventually security cameras in the area were able to track down the murderer. That man's mother was in complete denial and kept insisting her son was totally innocent even though there was DNA evidence and physical evidence (some of her belongings) in his possession. I saw this on a TV show called "See No Evil" (ID Discovery) that shows how surveillance cameras help police find bad people.
I don't understand these people doubling down when they mistake someone as an employee when they aren't. I've only mistaken a non-employee as one once, but when he told me he wasn't an employee I simply apologized and turned to look for a real one. I think it was an honest mistake on my part. The guy had a pallet -jack and was unloading things and placing them on the shelf. I've never seen anybody do that if they didn't work there. I'm 5'4'' and I needed help getting something off the top shelf and it was pushed back a bit. This guy with the pallet-jack was at least 6'2'' and he was very kind and helped me out anyway. See, being polite can get you help even from non employee's (if possible).

Story 1: I manage a restaurant in my local casino, and I don't have a driver's license due to seizures. As a result, I use Uber to get around.
As you would expect, the casino has a lot of people coming and going. I've had a ton of people try to steal my Uber, even though it's not the car type, model, or license plate listed on their app.

I've used Lyft/Uber before and they give all the necessary details, including WHERE YOUR DRIVER IS! You've no one to blame but yourself when you don't pay attention. Too many of these people lack critical thinking.

Story 1: Sticker or not, the app shows you where your driver is via GPS like door dash XD Use your freaking eyeballs lady.
So many of these posts have irate customers threatening to have staff fired. That simply wouldn't fly here, staff cannot be fired just on one complaint and staff have right of appeal to any dismissal through the employment court so employers are very wary of taking such action without it being either a very serious matter (and even then effort must be taken to resolve the issue) or the employee has been cautioned and counselled several times. It must be stressful to work in an environment in which your employment can hang on a single complaint.
By the way, I was a manager before retirement and fully support the protections provided to employees, they help to produce less autocratic, inefficient management styles.
The people in the Walmart story and hot topic story have to be right so badly and when they can't be they throw their stuff down and say i don't want this anymore. Why? Bc your made a total ass out of yourself and can't swallow your pride and stand to be looked at while the person who supposedly embarrassed them checks them out. Seriously the only person that embarrassed them is THEM 😂😂😂

Regarding the cops in story 2, train stations in larger cities pretty much always have cops patrolling them. Not even the state's police (that's responsible for other stuff in the state) but federal police (different from stuff like the FBI though, it's just a job where you could be posted in all of Germany instead of in just 1 state). We don't need an FBI type police since stuff like "Happened in another county/state" isn't a matter here. If you are doing something in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Southern end of Germany) and the cops check your info and notice you are wanted for a crime you committed in Flensburg (Northern End, directly South of the Danish border), you will be arrested and transferred to their colleagues in Flensburg

With ride-hailing service like Uber, Grab or Lyft, the app does tell you the model and plate number of the car that will pick you up. Story 1 is definitely Karen being dumb and not checking her app to see where her Lyft car might be.
