Reclaiming Old Barn Wood & HUGE Beams!

- Hey y’all!
If you remember from a few weeks ago, we found an old barn and homesite while turkey hunting. We got permission from the land owner to get the old barn wood, tin, and the huge beams! So we did! We’ll use them in my house I plan to build one day and some of the projects Dad will build too!
When the smoke blows over from Covid-19, we’ll take a trip to Kansas to tear down some old barns that have fallen in to reclaim the materials for the camp house we’ll build for our Kansas guide service!

I don't know if this has been said, but I really appreciate the fact that you and Jeff recognize and enjoy the beauty of that 100 year old lumber. That's a special thing. In most of this country, folks consider it junk, whereas you're salvaging history.
It's cool you guys are gonna be heading up north! I live in NE Kansas and the deer population here is incredible. I was out walking on the farm the other evening and saw trails and tracks all over the place. No one lives on the farm anymore and most of the neighbors are a few miles away so the deer have pretty much taken over. It will be nice to have someone come up to Kansas and help manage the population!

Rick Buck my family and I have worked good together all my life. I’d guess they r just like everyone else, they have their spats. Just get over it and go on. Bet those don’t get recorded tho
I always wished my dad and I could have fun, relaxed times together but finally I had to accept that he hates my guts for no reason and will never simply be nice to me but I like seeing others with better relationships.
I guess Im kind of randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to stream newly released movies online ?

Where he’s talking about your beauty, which I agree inside and out. The young lady that had the bad things say if things went south, and had survive, she would be in some more trouble. I am impressed with you, I’m a 56-year-old man that’s a jack of all trades. You remind me of my mother who was also a jack of all trades. Drove semi trucks , pulpwooded, and a little bit of everything. Proud of you young lady. Keep your head up don’t worry with nothing. Anybody that has anything to say bad about you. Really enjoyable watching you Hannah help your Dad all you Both are able to do and accomplish. Both of you enjoy lifes experiences which is great. Also you both come across as humble, honest , trustworthy, just down to earth people. All good qualities ! Hannah your a keeper, some man some day would be lucky to have your heart. I certainly would like to hang out with you guys. I don,t bow hunt, have not deer hunted in years. I would be interested in gator hunting, or hog hunting trip possibly down the road. If you would happen to offer either of those down the road. Also when the time comes to watch your dad build any house look forward to watching that, also see what they will sell for. I wonder if it's heart pine? It's so hard, that it's difficult to drive in a nail or pull one out. Can't get it anymore, since most of the virgin forests have been cut down, and pine trees aren't left to grow big enough for the heart wood to get big enough to use, before they are harvested.
Fascinating to watch and full of admiration for you folks. I recognise a lot of myself in your Dad's determination. Bet when you dropped these logs you felt as heavy as a feather and your legs took a wobble or two. " nothin' to it, " Love it.

Hannah, after a good rain find those green briars and look for the very tips, the newest growth, they are very flexible and quite tasty raw! Kinda tastes like asparagus or you can also steam them like asparagus, been living off them for years! If you're brave enough to believe an old man let me know if you like them!

Hey, Hannah: So glad to see that sweet smile, and watching You and Dad working together on them old logs. Cleaned up, pull the nails, and once dried, put a good coat of sealer on them, and they would last forever. I am 70 years old, and have taken down some old barns with my Dad, we had several of these at one time. You and Dad stay safe, and buy some gloves to in, your Dad is going to run out of band aids!!! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To me these look like old scrap firewood. City Slicker here. I realize that someone with a good imagination can probably do something very creative out of them. I can't see it. Antique furniture to me is just old furniture. I hope that you will show the results of what you use these posts for.

Your dad is stubborn and resourceful. I can identify with that. I should add I've spent my share of type recuperating after accomplishing something someone told me I couldn't. I may have proved them wrong but I occasionally spend a month or two healing after. :)
