Back in the day, I remember waiting a month to read the actual tech articles in Super Ford, Pontiac Performance and other magazines. Go to car cruise-ins and try to listen in on engine talk. Ask questions and hope someone is willing and capable to give an accurate answer. It was a lot of leg work, waiting and sifting through to hopefully not make a wrong choice on putting an engine together. Today, instant gratification is at an all time high. It's pretty bad when people can't appreciate learning the amount of info presented in a short video. Then comment that their time was wasted, which goes to show selfishness is also at an all time high. I can say I would have loved to have a neighbor willing to share the info you share. Then again, with the internet making the world a small place maybe our group is not that far apart. Thanks Brent! At 46, I am one of the younger members in the 67-73 Mercury Cougar community.
Hi, I've been enjoying your videos for a year or so via my Apple TV box on my livingroom TV. The Apple TV box has kind of a clunky interface--so it's hard to even leave 'thumbs up', and it does not have a provision for commenting. This is my first attempt at that. Felt I needed to leave a comment considering your initial comments in this video. I am of the older demographic (mid-60's) you mentioned. I'm not an engine builder (although I did build an air-cooled VW engine with a friend back when we were teens). I am just an old Ford fan, from a Ford family, back in the day--we had wagons, sedans, and we even had a Pinto, which nearly caused a divorce from the Ford family. Anyway, ignore the haters and keep on keeping on. I look forward to seeing your work. It's really good stuff.
Hi I am from Argentina. I Am 30 Years old, and I am a Chevy guy. But I like your channel and I appreciate those all people Who make a video sharing their knowledge about engines.. Your videos are good and they always tech me something new about Ford engines or something new about performance technic.. regards from Argentina and congratulation for Your channel and long life for all those people Who love internal combustion engines
65 here , my father teach me to drive on a 1963 fairlane 500 with a 260 and column shifted 3 speed trans. keep doing what you are doing theres always be those that cant apreciate a good thing. thanks again.
Hi Brent I have been watching your videos for about a month glad you're all Ford like you said there is a lot of information out there for a small block Chevys and LS motors I have had a few FEs in early 70s trucks and a handful small blocks in mustangs I currently have a 70 Cleveland 4v in a 57 fairlane. I would like to see you build a clevor on a working man's budget
It amazes me how rude people can be. You provide this content, free to the viewers, and people still complain. I appreciate you sharing your work and knowledge. It is quite impressive what you can accomplish with 60 plus year old engine architecture.
Brent, I grew up on 289 & 302 Fords and then I bought my 1st new car...an '85 Mustang GT 5.0. Now it's getting a 363 SBF/AFR 195 with Magnum 6 speed. 500+ HP in a 3,000 lb Foxbody vs 2+ ton modern 'Pony Cars' = FUN! I'm 62 and my brother is 55 and we have the patience and desire to learn from your videos. Keep the FORD videos coming....Love them!!
I think your videos are unique in the subject matter (primarily Ford focused) and technique. Even someone who hated Fords could learn a huge amount about the value of attention to detail that you show in all your videos. I love it when a new one pops up. Keep up the good work!
I have been enjoying your videos Brent. I am 55 and have my grandparents 64.5 Mustang with the 260....Need to decide what to do with that little motor this year. It doesn't run as hard as it used to after sitting for 10 years in the garage.
I think we really appreciate the fact that GM is not your focus there are so many GM sites I'm not a Chevy fan, I like Mopar and Ford, so please keep doing what you're doing 🇺🇸👍
22 checking in. Haven’t been subscribed that long but love the content. Always been a Chevy and Mopar man, but I have to say I’m more an engine guy than a car guy. Bored of the SBC and LS stuff (Although do love my LS) and I love seeing some different projects that aren’t as common. Never heard of the tunnel port stuff until this channel, and have enjoyed learning and researching it!
Love the videos, I don't comment much but I'm always here watching. I have quite a few small block Ford's and one FE being built, you sir have thought me a ton of stuff! Thank you
To have a RUclips channel, you have to be willing to take abuse. Most times it's not personal at least. Some people just like trying to bring you down to their level. Your viewer analogy is close since I'm 72 yo. I started out at 15 repairing lawn mowers and then to flatheads, LoL. I don't do much anymore but I really enjoy you and your channel.
Thanks for the good info here again, Brant. I have never understood cementers complaining about waiting their time. Why would anyone watch something of no interest to them and then waist even more of their precious seconds by commenting on it? As UTG put it so well, common sense is not a fruit growing in their orchard.
I love all ford pushrod engines. 5.7” connecting rod length. This little 311 should turn some serious rpms. I’m in the process of building a long rod 351 Cleveland with 1970 Boss 302 cylinder heads with the Chris Parker funnel web intake. Thanks for another great video.
Not to get too detailed....but at 19:00 it looks like you still have an air bubble on the RH side of the piston when measuring the volume with the burette....
I'm 57...I got ahold of a u-haul 390 ? 360? ..that from what I understand is detuned to a 330..I'm going to put it into a 54 ford pickup with a c6 auto...it runs great ..are there any Bolton's I can use to gain some hp.??
Hello Brent, I like your videos, especially the FE stuff, However be we will building, a Clevor when those CHI heads arrive. Also the Boss 351 block is still backordered.

Sounds like a winning combo! Your engine should definitely make power in the upper ranges too!!

Looks like it, but I think it’s a camera deal. I watched it fill up and didn’t see anything on that side.
Thankyou for no LS crap . The re-vamped Windsor
Thank god you don't do LS crap
great videos. 49 yrs old here. do you think the 01 block is stronger than the older blocks.
No sir, they are not. The late 60's/early 70's blocks were the strongest. That's why this block has some Hard Blok in it.
I'm 57...I got ahold of a u-haul 390 ? 360? ..that from what I understand is detuned to a 330..I'm going to put it into a 54 ford pickup with a c6 auto...it runs great ..are there any Bolton's I can use to gain some hp.??

Thanks great information.
Love ya
Brent very cool. Do you have a car to put it into or just a dyno motor? Or are you going to sell it after?
Where are you looking for horsepower peak to occur? 7,000?
I'm aiming for a little higher than that. V8's don't sound good until about 8000 LOL
@@lykinsmotorsports I agree!!
I think I have the same yellow engine stand you have there? It's actually my best one. Lol
Some people try to build a stock 5.0 block and build crazy h.p.,without proper machining. They claim foul.
